Little back story. I have salvage title car thats been through a lot. For some amazing reason it keeps on going. In its most recent fight to keep on going the engine mounts failed and the engine literally dropped on the axle while I was doing 65 on the freeway. After replacing the axle and mounts to my surprise it fired up however it wouldnt shift (auto transmission) into 2nd and 4th gear. I took it to transmission specialists along with several other regular shops and every time they came back with something different. From $300 worth of repairs to $1200 with no guarantee they can fix the issue. This was frustrating but since the car still ran (albeit not well) I decided to just run it into the ground. It wasnt worth a potentially thousand dollar repair. Finally I decided to ask some friends for recommendations on a good shop and thats what brought me to University Automotive. I took it in and told them nearly nothing of the problems. I let them discover it themselves. I paid $140 for the standard diagnostic and they spent a lot of time under the hood looking over the issues, much longer then the other places I dropped it off at in the past. I was okay with this. A week later I got a call back saying they replaced an O-ring on the mass airflow housing and it seems to be running fine. They tested it longer to see if any codes would fire and everything was running smoothly. What was going to cost me several hundred to over a thousand in repairs ended up costing me a simple diagnostic charge. Nothing more, nothing less. This car had so many issues they could have come back with anything being wrong and needing repair. They didnt. They were timely, and most importantly, honest. They made a customer for life. I couldnt be happier.

I have always given a good review and raved about UA to everyone. However, this is my second disappointment with UA and I have to say something. On July 17, I made an appointment for July 29 for an 8 a.m. appointment. I arrived for the appoinment early. A guy met me in the parking lot and said, "You have come at the right time." There were a number of things I needed to have done. When 2:00 p.m. came and no one had called to tell me about my concerns, I called. Of course they had all the standard excuses: Another car was on the rack since last night and so they couldnt do the oil and filter change; "You should see the cars in the parking lot to be done." Fine, well, my reviews have partly been responsible for that. Besides, I HAD AN APPOINTMENT and when I arrived, it was almost vacant. Then he blamed it on me. "If you had told me you wanted your car by a particular time, we could have had it done." Really?? Why do you have to know my reasons. I made an appointment weeks ago and was in early. Why bother to make an appointment, then get up early and have it there before everyone else, if they arent going to call and let me know what needs to be done and how long it will take. While they may not have been able to put the car on the rack, they could have at least driven the car around to find out if the brakes sounded Okay. Its the old adage about the squeeky wheel. I dont know yet what is going to transpire. Dont give me excuses like everyone else. Just take responsibility and say you goofed!

I used to got to Jiffy Lube, but have never liked the price for the service received. After reading reviews online, this was one of the best rated ones, so I decided to try this shop out. Needless to say I am always impressed with: -The friendliness of "Doc" at the front desk. I would have to say that he is probably the number one reason that I come into university automotive. He always remembers my name and genuinely asks how I am doing, and I never feel like he is pressuring me into buying something I dont need. He is comfortable advising me on where to get a specialty service that they dont provide. - A free car wash is a really nice perk because the inside and outside of my car both look great. Its not just a hose down and then send the car on the way, they actually do a nice job. - The price is really great. I get several mail offers for a discounted oil change if I bring in the coupon and I received a ten dollar rebate for the next time I went in. Referred my girlfriend and I received twenty dollars in the mail with a thank you, so that was very nice. - I always forget they leave a bag of candy in the car with a thank you. Always makes my day. Overall, I would definitely recommend this shop if you are on a budget and want a smaller place that will pay more attention to your car.

Exceptional customer service, reasonable prices and even better repairs! I had my very abused and broken down Chevy towed to University Automotive. I didnt know what to expect, because Im mechanically challenged and typically rely on the "idiot lights" to get in for service. The two year daily commute to the Bay Area WITHOUT maintenance finally had taken the life of my old faithful...I was already looking at new car options with dread. They received my car efficiently, even without me there; diagnosed and communicated their findings to me in a VERY timely and complete manner...I made arrangements to pick the car up within 1 day!! The price at a little over $900 was my down payment for the new car I was SURE I had to get. When I picked it up, they had cleaned it (NO small feat with dogs, mud kids and years of neglect), replaced the battery, fixed a flat tire, and installed a new Ignition Coil and a Serpentine Belt. When I drove out, they left a thank you package and my car that was sputtering and immobile...runs strong as the day I bought it! You cant even hear it idle...At 112,000 miles and years of neglect...she purrs again! WOW. THEY ARE AMAZING!!

After my husband and I reached the end of our rope with our previous technician, I was referred to University by a friend of mine. Even though University was a little out of our way, I trusted her judgment and decided to check them out. After a few conversations with Donald (on the phone and in person) and Craig (on the phone) about my situation and services, I found them to be, not only knowledgeable, but trustworthy, timely, and responsive. Thats basically what I want in an automotive service; I dont expect much more. However, University takes it to the next step. Their shop is immaculate (outside of the dealership, Ive never seen an immaculate automotive shop), their employees are genuinely polite and helpful, they have a shuttle service, AND they left me with a thank you note and tasty goodies in my car. Highly recommended.

Just had oil/filter change along with 40-point inspection completed today. I must say, I was absolutely pleased with the friendliness and service received. The front staff, "Doc", was very helpful and courteous. Beyond my expectations, I also received a free car wash for my SUV, including vacuuming, tires were checked and topped off with air. I also received an unexpected package of girl scout cookies to express their appreciations. This complete service was performed under a $10 Groupon offer purchased nearly a year ago. This is the first time Ive use them and am so glad I found them. I found their staff to be trustworthy and took the time to explain the results and current condition of the vehicle. I was completely satisfied (A+) and do highly recommend University Automotive for future work.
