We got this membership because of the free childcare. I took a Pilates class and left my two daughters there. When I returned from the class, my baby (then 12 mos. old) was crying sitting next to a toy while the caretaker stood on the other side of the room with her hands behind her back. I was LIVID! How do you watch a child cry and not go over to comfort them?! I ran straight to my child and picked her up. The woman said, "Yeah, she was upset." THEN COME GET ME FROM THE CLASS IF YOURE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP HER!!! The woman is older, with long gray hair. I have never taken my children back. I have to wait until my husband comes home from work and miss out on time as a family to go work out. I do LOVE the Zumba classes Ive taken and try to make it on Thursday nights! Great instructors and nobody cares what you look like, so its a fun time and a great workout without feeling like it! I just wish that they would have qualified caretakers in their child care area, and a larger room. The room is teeny tiny!

The poor reviews by folks who fell cheated are way off-base. They are super clear on how you are charged, the automatic renewal, and that you need to cancel in person. They literally could not be more clear. Take some personal responsibility people. As for the gym, they fulfill a niche market that many people prefer: a no-frills gym with a lot of equipment and a sense of community. Think "Average Joes" from the DodgeBall movie, but with more equipment. If you olympic lift, they have great facilities. If you can think of it, they have it. They dont needlessly replace perfectly good equipment. If youre looking for a gym where you can eat off the floor, have a luxury locker room, and aromatherapy, find another gym that fills that niche. If you want a hyper-functional gym with great people, go to SCPF. Moe, if you read this, I swear Ill get back soon. Got busy and out of my groove!

Run away from this gym. Or, be ready for aggressive sales tactics, a dirty locker room, sad childcare facilities and unauthorized charges to your account i.e. FRAUD. The manager Moe and is a sleazy salesman. His sales people/ trainers work on commission, and its obvious. The childcare room is tiny and only open limited hours. Childcare workers are not required to be CPR certified. The classes are too crowded to move around. The gym is unbearably hot on a warm day and freezing on a cold day. Locker rooms are gross; I saw clogged plumbing and piles of hair. Parking is bad. NEVER GIVE SANTA CRUZ POWER FITNESS YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER. Ive had 6 unauthorized charges from them so far. Plus, it is extremely difficult to get money back from them once theyve taken it. Read the yelp reviews, it happens a lot with this gym apparently.

Absolute sleazeballs. The workers are weird as f@#$k. And they pull this scam where they sign you up for a year at a promo rate and then they keep billing you the next year when you dont come back (because their gym sucks complete @#$SS and most people who go there are complete meatheads or too broke to afford a better gymn. Ofcourse its all written in the fine print but they never tell you about it because nowadays every bank, phone company and business is out to rob you of as many overdraft fees and unexpected charges as they can. BOYCOTT THESE WEAK @#SS B@#$THCES!!! Oh and by the way they will offer you ongoing discounts if you resign for the next year, but even if you refuse that offer, they will continue to bill you anyways. HAH #F@#$KWADS

Ive been at this gym for a while, and while I spend time on travelpass at other Golds, this one is my favorite. This gym is a solid, nuts and bolts gym with friendly people who are there to get the job done. Like most Golds, most people are regulars who are ready for a quick hello, but wont get in the way of staying on and keeping moving. The crowd in the fitness room is high energy, and the occasional serious body builder types keep the inspiration going. There is no annoying posing going on. The equipment is a good mix of well-maintained oldies like cables and two walls of free weights, as wellas newer cams and cybex-style machines. All the treads and elipticals are brand new, and the ironman section is loaded.

I am a local business owner... I absolutely love this gym because it is a positive enviornment , and a place to go to empower yourself, loose weight, heal pain, and be strong and healthy. One major plus for me being a female is I never feel uncomfortable from any of the members or staff, when in fact there all ways available to answer questions or help with nutrition and form. Everyone is so focused that theres no time to lean..its go-time there...everyone is seriously passionate about fittness and nutrition..and everyone is helpfull and encouraging to oneanother... Im inspired every day by the discipline, endourance, and fittness of everyone around me.. --Ally Lee

Signed up for the 7 day free trial online, when I arrived I was told I couldnt use it as Im not from the local area (from the UK, living in Santa Cruz) and had to pay to use the gym. The website is very misleading as it does not mention this at all anywhere. It would of been a lot easier if this was stated on the website then I wouldnt of wasted my time going there, not to mention the staff member at the front desk was very rude and agressive, to the point where I didnt feel very welcome there. Shame as I was considering joining, but now I wont be, first and last time I will visit this gym sadly.

I signed up for a gym membership without looking around too much.(Regret that) I was hooked on the idea that you could get a dollar off for every day you came in for the first thirty days.(Perfect attendance would decrease rate from 45 to 15 dollars per month) I am going for a new career and need to swim(signed up for 24 Hr fitness. (loving it) I had to go in personally in order to cancel and was harassed to stay there. Then Minutes after I left I was charged 49.00 for a maintenance fee for the year I only had a membership here for just over 30 days. I would recommend finding another gym

This is a no non-sense gym with commercial grade equipment. The members for the most part are friendly and serious about working out and they practice good "gym etiquette" which is important in my book. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, especially the manager, "Moe". And you cant beat the rates for what you get. If you want a gym full of bells, whistles, frills, foo-foo, entertainment, more expensive rates (usually double or triple higher) and members who are not serious about working out and who are primarily concerned about socializing, then this isnt your kind of place.

I used to live next door in the condos. I requested numerous times to have the exercise lady do her classes later in the morning, nothing was done, sent several emails to the gym to have this women turn down her microphone, nothing was done. The noise is terrible, they drop weights shaking our building, the people leaving tear out of the parking lot almost hitting other cars and pedestrians, and the owner "Mo" doesnt do anything about the requests I made. Ive moved on, back to Huntington Beach and its a wonderful feeling not to hear "Over", Repeater, Whoo".
