Ive been to eight 24 Hour Fitness clubs in 3 states. None of them were as dirty and un-updated as the Thousand Oaks gym. This gym needs a total makeover. I cant even believe that they DO NOT require a Towel upon entering the gym. Nor do they have signs that ask members to "wipe down machines" when they are done with them. As a result, most people dont wipe down the equipment after they have used it. Often, you will see pools of sweat from peoples hair and backs all over the ab equipment. I know two people that have gotten staff infections directly from dirty gym equipment. In addition, the equipment is very old and is not logically placed according to muscle groups. Lastly, the place is totally packed from 5-7, so much so that you need to wait for parking spaces and equipment. If only they would just start by asking members to use proper hygiene, it would totally help make this place a lot better.

I just canceled my membership with 24 hour fitness recently. This gym doesnt offer a wide variety of classes in the morning. I attended a yoga class on a Saturday morning and the instructor came in through the side door which it so happens its an emergency door. The alarm went off at it was extremely disruptive and loud (its a fire alarm so imagine!). The gym staff took their sweet time to come upstairs and fix it. The yoga instructor was very apologetic and she tried covering the alarm with a thick towel. That class was just ruined and the entire relaxing vibe was gone. For whoever in the management team that will be reading this review please instruct your staff that if there is a similar situation like this, train your staff to be more aware of the consequences of delaying the process of fixing the issue. And also please do something about that awful gym smell...

I was excited so see a 24 hour fitness so close to my apartment, only to find that I was better off paying more money for an actual work out. You literally have to fight for cardio equipment, wait your turn for a machine, and to top it off the entire place feels down right dirty. The lockerrooms have showers, yet there is black dirty water all over the floor--my roommate found a newspaper and literally tied it around her feet to walk from the sauna back to our lockers. The classes are always PACKED, so it really takes away from the experience. I love big gyms, but this was really just too much. Cheap rates attract people like me; unfortunately, it attracted a ton of other people, and obviously the rates were too low give the club enough money to attend to health and maintenance issues. Yuck, yuck yuck. No thanks.

Gym is awful, everything is completely outdated and dirty. All of the equipment looks like it has not been updated in years. They renovated the court which is nice but for the volume of people who regularly go here it seems like a big F you to anyone who is actually here to lift. I understand that you get what you pay for but this gym has to have made a fair amount of money over the past few years and really does not have an excuse not to renovate/at the least try to keep everything cleaned and well-maintained.

I really like this gym. For the most part its a great place to work out. But if you are a little on the heavy side like I am and have struggled with a reason to exist due to people laughing at you. Then I dont suggest you go the gym late night/early morning because a young skinny female employee will laugh at you with other gym members. Just as I was starting to get confident and feel good about myself, that employee ruined it and has discouraged me from going back.

24 in TO used to be nice, but now its overcrowded with a bunch of meatheads and a bit worn down, I was glad to see they updated the basketball court which was much needed, but they also need to upgrade or remodel the bathrooms which are quite gross at times. As for the gym it self, its alright, really you get what you pay for. If your looking for a nice, clean gym with all the amenities go to Spectrum Club up the street.

I agree with the review below. If youre the type who is intimidated by "meatheads" and is more concerned with amenities than training, you should join the old folks home aka the Spectrum Club. Seriously. It will be more to your liking. Theyll even wash your towels for you. I choose 24 Hour Fitness as its priced reasonably, has almost everything I need, and most folks there are there to actually train.

A mess. And messy. Weights scattered around and not reracked, equipment dirty and rarely wiped down (broken ones seem clean), and despite admonishment toward gym bags & purses on floor the place is littered with them. Good example of state of biz - closed today for some reason with no way to find out when re-opening (website has nada & phone just rings). Shop around - I am now.

Ive been going to this gym for years. It certainly needs to have its Stairmasters replaced. Theyre always acting up---sometimes in ways that seem dangerous. I would also like to see more effort made to pick-up after the lazy slobs who leave trash in the cup holders of machines. Other than those complaints, the gym meets my needs and their personnel are friendly.

There are 10 monitors in the aerobic machine area. Recently 4 of the 10 monitors runs non stop 24 Fitness commercial video. People to for machines where they do not have to stare at that crap. I asked receptionist said she knew it was an issue, everyone was complaining and I could leave a message for the manager. I did and will continue until this is changed.

Machines break frequently and days and days go by without being serviced. Repeatedly, staff is indifferent to requests for repairs to be done on machines that have been broken for days. TV programs have poor quality sound and minimal variety. Definitely not a location to recommend to others.

Sylvias bBarre classes have sure made points with my husband! Started taking bBarre a few months ago with Sylvia on Tuesdays and Fridays. It didnt take long before my husband was commenting on the results LOL Thank you Sylvia for introducing me to bBarre. Love your yoga classes too.

Good assortment of machines and classes, but the cleanliness is what can be lacking at times. However, alot of that is in part to other gym members being gross AF. Great place though, I go to this location often and the team members are always friendly and helpful.

Good equipment, music and friendly staff. Crowded though most people have good etiquette are polite and know how to share. Rows and rows of cardio equipment. A little dark in sections, but who cares; im there to work out hard, not read a book

I usually go later on, circa 11 PM - 1 AM, and there arent too many people. It can get busy during most hours of the day, and quite congested--but, in terms of the equipment, staff, and quality otherwise, this is a great place.

The place has doesnt appear to have been significantly updated since the 80s. Equipment is in okay shape but could be better maintained. Its often crowded, but manageable. The price is good at $30 per month.
