I love the overall concept and think it has tremendous value with improvement in a few areas. I love that I am highly encouraged to give myself 2 spa treatments every month that I otherwise might not be able to justify with my busy schedule. I love that the locker room and bathroom feel more like a spa bathroom and locker room than a gym. I love the classes and the instructors. What I dont love is the cheap toiletries in the shower. In my younger years I stayed in seedy hotels with better shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I suspect Total Woman hasnt upgraded these since the 1980s. I dont love that my luxurious body scrub was recently replaced with something cold, wet, inconsistent and odorless. I also dont love the televisions in front of every workout space and the music choices. Rather than all channels be whatever is on TV, I would love to see self-improvement television on at least one screen. After all, this is a self-improvement center. I would love to see self-improvement courses provided to clients in other areas of their life, other than just physical. And, I would love more upbeat workout music that keeps the blood pumping rather than whatever happens to be playing on the top 40 hits. I also understand, after interviewing various employees, that there is a real need for improvement in management all the way to the top. It is a business that caters to woman and is owned an operated by a group of men. As a business consultant I tend overanalyze even my workout space and I see where the overall concept needs to go to attract and keep happy clients. It is a fabulous concept that just needs a womans touch.

Its a new facility, only a few months old, so its clean and the equipment works. However it is already too crowded and it is very difficult to get into many of the classes. The class workout room is just too small. It has mirrors only on the front wall, so it can be difficult to see the instructor when its packed, which is often. There is no place set aside for stretching or floor exercises, and you are not permitted to use the pilates room for this purpose, even if it is vacant. The staff is pleasant. Parking is good. Maybe they should shut down the space devoted to their sales office next door and convert it into workout space for the clients they already have before they lose them.

I like that its women only but there are quite a few things that are annoying.... If a piece of equipment needs repair it takes FOREVER. Also there are lots of trainers, too many for this small gym and they take over! I cant tell you how often Im asked to either move my stuff (iPad, towel etc...) or Ill need to move because the trainer/client moves right up next to me! And this is at 5 in the morning! Also, if you plan to use the shower facilities, it always seems that the air conditioner is on iwhere the showers are! And if you ask, no one can adjust the air. Just what I want is to catch a cold!

I have joined many gyms in my past and must say....I love the Total Woman Gym and Day Spa in Torrance. The facilities are nicely upgraded and so clean and the staff is very friendly. Im not a daily workout animal by any stretch...but love that there are always plenty of machines available...and the workout room is spacious and smells good! If you are looking for a nice Gym with the convience of a Spa...this is the place.
