In the era of big box hardware stores, Koontz Hardware is a throwback to a time gone by. This is the ultimate neighborhood hardware store. If you needed it, they most likely have it. Thankfully they have very friendly and knowledgeable sales people that can help you navigate the maze of floor to ceiling aisles to help you find exactly what you need (check out the very back of the store for several floor to ceiling aisles of nothing but every type of drawer or cabinet knob imaginable). These people are not only helpful when it comes to locating the product you need, they are also extremely knowledgeable in all types of home related repairs and renovation projects. Share your renovation idea with them and they will happily share with you the different options and alternatives they have available to not only make your project easier to do but also to give it that extra wow factor. You do not get service like this at a big box store. If you start coming here regularly their staff will remember your first name after only 3 or 4 visits making you feel like one of the Koontz Hardware family in no time. This is a hardware store where everyone knows you name, remembers the projects you were/are working on and are genuinely interested in how those projects are progressing. You will never want to go back into a big box hardware store once you have had the pleasure of letting the staff at Koontz help you with all of you repair or renovation needs.

Went for extension pole, sander, and sanding paper. Job site had the supplies on hand, so I returned less than an hour later unopened. First they said its not returnable for obviously returnable objects, then they tried to keep $10 without telling me. I walked out just to move on and not cry but then I thought, dont be a coward and cave to thieves. At least keep the item they arent accepting! I go back in and two employees join forces to pretend thwt the numbers arent clear as day. Either give me my item or my money. Not both. Guy is stuttering and.old lady goes from all knowing to incapable of basic addition subtraction. For $50 in business you just lost any future patronage and I hope others follow suit. It was a last resort anyways as their markups are twice home.depots and even more of lowes.

A nylon pivot hinge broke on my glass shower door, which is about 25 years old. A search on the internet failed to find any replacement part. Through word of mouth I was steered to Koontz Hardware. The sales rep was very helpful and immediately took me to the shelf where the exact parts were hanging. Imagine, after 25 years the replacement part is still available! For $3.95 I eliminated an expensive service call. In fact one rep on the phone tried to sell me a new shower door for around $1000. I am delighted to have discovered Koonz.

They have magicians working behind the counter that solve every single one of your problems. Or tell you how you can easily solve it yourself. Also, Ive wandered in for some of the most random things and they somehow MAGICALLY have it in stock. For example...just found washi tape there last night. Its a tiny shop thats chock full of anything you could imagine. If they dont have it, the home goods store above them probably does.

This is one of those hardware stores that has anything and everything in a very tiny footprint. The store can be intimidating since there is so much in down each skinny aisle but there are plenty of friendly staff members around to help you. The prices can be slightly higher than competitors but it beats making the drive to Home Depot or Lowes when you just need a couple items.

I had such a horrible experience at Koontz the other day that Ill likely never come back, even though I live just up the street. It took me an hour to exchange a tool because of a rude tools department associate, awkward policies, and a manager that did not seem to enjoy interacting with customers. Really disappointed because its such a cute local hardware store.

I am a hardware store junky. I build non-stop. This hardware store has well stocked shelves and a lot of selection. Easily one of the best hardware stores Ive been in. If you live in the area, it is a good one. If you dont live in the area, it is worth stopping buy and getting that door knob and articulating screwdriver you always wanted.

This is an old school hardware store where everyone that works there seems to be an expert in their department. I dont live close but tend to make the drive anyway because the likelyhood of finding that "little part" or out of season item is high. Hardware stores used to be all about service. That traditon carries on here.

Finally I have found somewhere in L.A. that sharpens sissors - price seemed reasonable until I went to pick them up - Original quote was $12.00 per sissors - but THEY DIDNT MENTION extra $8.00 to take each pair apart. The pointed out it was in the FINE PRINT. Just give me the full price and be done please.

Went looking for a simple screen for french doors for my rented condo. They recommended making my own to custom fit from their workshop. It was simple to install, and a perfect fit. The staff is all over the store and they know what they are talking about. I LOVE these guys !!!!!

My favorite hardware store in LA. I have a cheap landlord so Im always fixing the little things myself and replacing items from last century. Home Depot/OSH do not carry older items anymore. But Koontz does! They have all kinds of specialty products. 5 stars for Koontz!

Really unhelpful staff. If you dont know exactly what youre looking for then take your business elsewhere. Each person I talked to told me it wasnt their department and to ask someone else. I left empty handed and no one seemed to care.

Invariably this is the only place that can "fix whatever you need", in one stop. Everyone is a Professional (Oscar Jara for instance), knows thier stuff & if they dont, one of the team members does. True Service!

They have anything you could possibly want. Its mind boggling. All the staff seems to have a knowledge of everything you may have a question for. Prices are what is expected, nothing over the top.

This place has everything, with a very knowledgable & friendly staff. Youll pay a little more than the big box, but you also wont spend all day searching endless aisles with no one to help you.

These guys have a hidden tiered charge per lock- $19 + $37 per. What is normally a $175 charge for new keys on existing locks was $421 with these guys dont call this company
