Had previously given this company a 5 star (Yelp) but sadly have to drop it to 1 - 02/26/16 based on their recent approach at addressing concerns that I have. Doing business with this company has been nothing short of frustrating and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The following is our attempt at reaching out for additional information. All of which are still to-date unanswered and it is pointless even trying to call anyone at Doctor Fix-It for they all seem to have an attitude. Please be careful doing business with this company. They seem not to have all their ducks in a row and items that they should advise ahead of time, they fail to do so and then when you try to reach out, all efforts are blocked. All the follow-ups were via contact form as phone gets you right back to the same inexperienced staff that leave you more frustrated at the end of the call. City inspection - Follow-up #3: Furnace - (Home Address here) Can we have someone call to advice? Just called the city of Lakewood and they say the scheduling needs to be done by the contractor that pulled the permit, in this case Doctor Fix-It as there needs to be a Permit #, a Contractor Code and an inspection Code all things we do not have. They further advised that the payment should never have been made prior to inspection, again something Doctor Fix-It never advised. This is rather frustrating. At this point we leave it to Doctor Fix-It to advise and since reports are that the General Manager is out this week and next week, we hope that someone knowledgeable can give us a call in his absence. City inspection - Follow-up #2: Furnace - (Home Address here) Customers cannot be expected to schedule their own inspections. We received a voicemail stating that we need to call the City of Lakewood, "what department?" "who in the city of Lakewood?" "what do we say?" "what forms if any do we fill out?" "What happens post inspection if you guys have to come back to fix stuff?" Is that included as part of the warranty or do we then have to pay again? Is there a follow-up inspection? Are inspections done for everything including spring servicing, or are they limited to installations? These are but a few of the questions we still have and were hoping to get comment from your general manager in a professional manner without so much attitude as has been displayed thus far from the staff. Again, this goes back to our disappointment at how this whole thing is being handled and thus our lack of confidence in the current staff handling this as it seems to merely be pushed back to the customer. If you are going to provide this type of directions, how about a number, a department name, a point of contact? Again going back to the first email, we have to-date received communication via email. The least your team could do is even attach in email a copy of what was supposedly mailed out advising of the inspection. At least then we have some direction. As it stands, we have little to no direction other than Marcus will be gone for this and next week and there is no one else to speck with. The manner in which this is all being addressed is hugely disappointing. See my Yelp Review on Follow-up #1. Unfortunately the character limitations does not permit me to post all. Summary, very disappointed by this company.

I was very impressed that the Doctor Fix-It team who did the digging and re-routing and connecting and all the rest for my new sewer line worked steadily, non-stop, all day. They put in close to 10 hours, and finished the job, hauled away the extra dirt, cleaned up my yard, replaced my fencing--as the representative had promised when we first met, there were "no surprises". Something that impressed me was that the workers did their best to avoid killing a rose bush Id tried to save by tying it back--they couldnt work around it, so dug it up, with dirt around the roots, and at the end re-dug the hole, filled it with water, and replanted the bush. They could have said, "Sorry, no way--we do sewers, were not gardeners." But they didnt take that approach, and that really did please me. The only thing left UNdone was the re-blacktopping in the street--and that was because the Lakewood inspector said no, it might rain. It didnt, but they couldnt proceed without his go-ahead. They will, when the City permits them to. (Later note: they did. Nice smooth job.) I was so pleased with the sewer work that I went with the same company-- Doctor Fix-It -- for a new hot water heater. The workers arrived on time, had to dig out extra space to fit the larger heater in (Jon had measured, so this was no surprise and they were prepared), did an excellent, efficient and professional job of that, and put the removed dirt where I asked so that I can later use it. The heater was installed, pipes joined, and they guys even slipped on the insulation Id provided (not normally part of the job). Of course they hauled away the old heater. Jon knew Id replaced a valve in my toilet tank and it had a very slight leak, and he told one of his workers to check it out--he did: it just needed more hand-tightening than I had the strength for, and he did it. These last two things--the insulation and the toilet tank--were not normally part of installing the water heater, of course, but Doctor Fix-its Jon Miller arranged for this extra help, and I guess that sort of showed me something of the nature of this company: they want to do a good job and please the customer, and keep on coming back. Ask for Jon Miller. Hes a good representative, and has a basic policy: NO SURPRISES! I got a bid from another guy after Jons, and had I not already listened to Jon, Id not have known about little details that emerged only after I asked--and they changed the price for this other guy. Jon does it all up front. They are my company of choice now, for plumbing, electrical and heating--because they did the jobs as promised, left everything as it should be left, went a little extra, and were in all ways professional. And guess what: their bids were excellent: I got what I needed for the best price. Great combination.

Our 20 year old, 3.5 ton air conditioner died. We entered the market to simultaneously replace the air conditioner and furnace on our 2,400 sq ft house. The existing system had never done a very good job of cooling our home. After checking with multiple providers and doing our due diligence online, we settled on Dave Logan’s recommendation, Doctor Fix-It. Paul Frohm is the perfect initial point of contact person for Doctor Fix-It. Paul Frohm weaves his college degree in HVAC with decades of experience into an incredible tapestry of HVAC expertise. What I mean by that is Paul answered all our questions with precise, understandable answers. From technical thermal gradient stabilization questions to matching the right system to our existing square footage, Paul Frohm never skipped a beat. We discussed the merits of an upscale 95% efficient furnace verses a less expensive 80% furnace based on local gas/electric prices and the price point of our home in the resale market. Paul Frohm slipped on his protective red “booties” and did a complete analysis of our house. He explained why our house was too small for a 5 ton (bigger isn’t always better) and gave several examples of the negative consequences of owners who had gone too large with other providers. Upon finishing his analysis, Paul Frohm presented us with a final quote that Doctor Fix-It was prepared to honor for the full system. It included a top of the line Frigidaire, dual speed, 4 ton air conditioner and matching 2 stage furnace with 10 year warranty. The installation included a cosmic $400, model 8920w touch pad thermostat from Aprilaire and a full house duct cleaning after installation. All the sheet metal work and permits were included in the price. Paul then walked us through copies of completed work orders and estimates from other contractors for similar installations. We recognized many of the company names and were totally amazed at the broad spectrum of prices that had been charged or offered for the same service. Finally, even though our system had died in the heat of July, 2017, Paul Frohm was able to offer an installation date 2 days later. In conclusion, the system has now been installed, the duct cleaning team has come and gone and all promises were kept. The installation team of Christian “G.” and Josh as well as the 3 man team of duct scrubbers; Ralphael “C.”, Alex and Rodrigo were all extremely courteous and efficient. It’s only the second day after installation but so far we are extremely satisfied with Doctor Fix-It, our new system and all of their representative in this family owned business.
