Sometimes words are too clumsy to describe a feeling. To put it simply, every experience in the service industry has an element of surprise. For a man who has rarely grown out his hair, I can say Ive embodied the understanding of how sacred hair can be. When I walked into Semions, I was greeted by a good man who I wont name. I let him know I wanted the sides shortened with nothing taken off the top to keep my length for my long awaited man bun. During the haircut I let him know again to make sure he leaves the top alone. Towards the end of the haircut, surprise ensued. He had cut about 3 inches off the top. I must say I have never felt that upset about my hair. Its similar to how a samurai must feel when their buns were cut off. Yes, a samurai can easily over react, but staying calm through chaos is the noblest of all strengths. The young man sensed my frustration, yet still he pushed through calmly to complete the hair cut. As a massage therapist I can understand how tough that must be. The only issue with hair is it represents time, once its off you have to wait patiently for its return. The owner, Semion, asked to speak with me. I explained to him what happened and I could feel his sole intention was to make it right, no matter what. Little do you know how suddenly a mistake can change the vibe. I did my best to stay calm, but without Semion it would have been difficult. He offered much to make it right, to which I kindly denied. I had already felt the love I was being shown and saw no gain in accepting anything more. After a short, very meaningful conversation, I asked Semion if I could talk to the Barber. Semion told me the young man recently had a customer come in and threaten him over a mistake, so I knew then and there that it was my chance to either suck it up, relax and help him through it as two humans, or watch his confidence take a hit and feel ashamed, which neither Semion or I felt was needed. The young man came back, I gave him a hug and thanked him. It is so easy to get used to your identity, and its especially difficult when someone changes it for you without asking. But when someone assists you in letting go of your identity, its truly a gift in disguise. I let him know it was ok, and to be careful when cutting length off of mens hair, because theres usually a purpose for it. We hugged again and I left smiling. When I got to my car I saw my hair in the reflection and again my ego showed its face. I was mad I wouldnt get to enjoy my hair for a while. Then I thought to myself, maybe this can be fixed. I called up Semions and let the receptionist know I was coming back to give it another shot. Although one of the barbers offered to cut my hair, Semion told me to wait until he was done with his last cut so he could do it himself. As I waited I realized that this situation was turning for the best, solely because of the love we all shared for style, hair and each other. Semion called me to the chair, sat me down and I watched as he performed magic. It was the first time I had felt like I was on the same team with a barber. "Does this look good?", "how about this?" He asked. Simple communication heals all. Now that my style had changed I needed a product to keep it in place. He handed me the Aveda grooming clay, and with one stroke the style was set. I cannot thank these 2 men, and the exceptionally kind women at Semions enough. Not for the complimentary haircut, not for the deal he gave me on the pomade, no, its for the experience. The smiles. Its for the love. I mean really, how lucky are we to have people ready to take our particular satisfactions head on? Ladies and gents, life is good. When the waves come, it can be terrifying. It will take time, but eventually you learn to just float. I can say all of us floated through this wave gracefully. We all spend many hours perfecting our crafts, but few hours handling a situation like this. What can I say? We nailed it. Thank you Semions. Ill see you in a couple months. PC/LV☀️

I am new to Denver and in the process of finding a new place to cut my hair. I decided to give Semion a shot bc the reviews were good. Made an appointment and when I showed up, the girl just took me to her chair without any introduction. Asked what I wanted to do and I told her, "not sure I could use your help." Showed her a couple of pictures and said that I wanted to keep length on top to keep the style, but just not sure how much to cut. She made a suggestion and it seemed great so we went with it. The only reason I am giving one star is because the fade is good. She cut the top, in a hurry to add, and it was not good. It did not blend well, it was not textured, and it was not cut the right way. She said oh well go home and style it yourself, it will look fine. Quick shampoo, blow dry and threw some greasy product in. I just wasnt sure about it but she insisted I try it out and see. I paid but was not comfortable with it. After I left, I was on my way home and kept looking at it. I was not happy so I googled another barber shop. I went in and told them what happened. I said I was so mad, I wanted to just cut it all off. She wanted to try to save it, so I said you can try. After an HOUR, she couldnt do too much. She made it look better than what it was but her hands were tied bc of what the girl at Semion did. So I had to end up BUZZING MY HAIR OFF!!! Very upset with this experience. I should have requested the owner since he is the one with most of the reviews. Dont know if I could ever try this place again! If you book here, ask questions about who is cutting your hair.

I seeked out Semion Barbershop online, looking for the best barbershop in town. After reading all of the hype in the articles, I decided to go give Semion Barbershop a chance. The first time I came in, I was immediately impressed with the atmosphere and my overall experience. For the last year and a half, Ive been driving from Parker to Denver to get my haircut and will not go anywhere else. At Semion Barbershop, Ive never had an issue with a haircut and Ive various different faces. In addition to the talent, the customer service is great. All of the staff are extremely inviting and easy to talk to. The walk-in process is very quick. Whenever I dont have time to schedule an appointment and go for a walk-in, Im in a chair and ready to go within 5 minutes. However, I do prefer to schedule an appointment and the Semion Barbshop app or online platform makes it really easy to do so. I highly recommend Semion Barbershop if youre looking for a high quality, clean, and fresh haircut for the right price. On a side note, Semions story is very inspirational and if you dont know it do some research or read the history photos on the wall when you go in.
