I took about 4 montchs of ballet level 2 classes at Belliston in 2009. I had taken about 6 years of ballet prior, but went back to ballet to improve my ice skating. I found Belliston online and they looked like a great school, but in reality its a nightmare. They are very strict on arriving on time, which in Colorado on snowy days is often hard. One girl in my class had 10 minutes to drive there from her school, and on a snowy day she came in 5 minutes late quickly putting on her shoes, and the instructor made her sit out the whole class. In my opionion that is absurd. The instructor herself was defintitely talented, but a bad and bitchy teacher. She also could not comprehend that I was primarily an ice skater and expected me to dedicate all of by time ballet. For someone who has done dance for nearly 8 or 9 of all types of dance years prior to this, it was always a fun and pleasurible experience, but Belliston has the physco idea that everyone dances to be a pro, meaning they are a very aggressive and competitive school. In addtition to that, my mom would send me in to pay before my lessson and on numerous occasions the office was closed at 4 oclock or nobody was in there. I also thought that there ballet bars were not quality most places have wooden ones and these were metal pipe from home depot that were always freezing cold to touch. In addition the room was boiling hot in the summer and the same temperature as it was outside in the winter (in ballet clothes it was like a freezer in there). If you have the chance to try another studio even if it is further away, I highly recommend it.

Belliston Academy has the ability to meet every student where they are at. It has the teachers who can help kids become professional if they would like to do so and also has a great program for the recreational student who will do a short barre and have a great experience learning to dance SAFELY! The young dancer program for ages 3-6 is incredible! It incorporates lots of creative movement with a hidden emphasis on ballet. Its hidden in exercises that excite the imagination of the student looking for fireflies. Transferring the weight from here to there, run, jump, and and catch it. Did you miss it? Try again! Just one example at how the program captures the life behind the movement in a fun, supportive, and challenging environment to help children overcome and feel successful!!! Success is FUN! Belliston Academy will give your child the kind of dance experience they will remember when a favorite Chopin tune that was used in class or performance is played in the grocery store. Cant you just wait to see your childs imagination ignite? First class is always complimentary!

Belliston Academy has been a second home to me for over 15 years now! As I grew up dancing here I always knew that it was the one place I could focus on my goals in both dance and life. Jeannine Belliston has taken every single one of her dancers under her wing and trained them to be both beautiful dancers and beautiful individuals. For me, I have learned the importance of planning, working hard, consistency, integrity, dedication and most importantly, humbleness. Thanks to the Belliston family, I am now prepared for all aspects of my life.

My daughter took beginning ballet classes at Belliston in Littleton in 2007-08. We found the teachers to be mostly unprepared to teach—perhaps good dancers themselves but not well prepared to teach. The administration was quite poor as well—the office was run mostly by moms, who could not send out a mass e-mail to inform families that the school would be closed on a holiday. The premises need to be renovated as well, and possibly kept cleaner. We would not recommend this school.

Our daughter loves this ballet studio, and its challenging, which we love because we feel it really gives her an idea even at the age of 7 how tough ballet is and how much focus shell need to have to succeed. She has fun as well, but it stretches her and isnt just fun and tutus. :)
