Put this place in the category of "you get what you pay for." I don’t expect much at discount gyms, but I think these issues are unacceptable: 1) Cleanliness. Forget the fact the actual gym space has seen better days and shows a clear lack of maintenance, the bathrooms are atrocious and poorly designed - wet, dirty, and smelly with inadequate ventilation, locker sizes, and not enough seating space. In the mornings, people are all over each other in the men’s room. A simple bench down the middle would certainly help eliminate the crowding that occurs when several 200lb men are trying to put their shoes on. I’m also astounded that there is no paper towel dispenser in the locker room. Want to blow your nose, dry your shower sandals, or wipe off a wet water bottle? Your only option is toilet tissue. The sink counters also pool water and the sinks don’t drain, so you’re commonly confronted with standing water on the counters and someone else’s beard whiskers in the sink. 2) Showers: I go early in the morning and shower at the gym. The shower area is gross. – stagnant and wet with poor drainage and signs of mold. Perhaps more annoying is the fact the shower stalls have no shelves or spaces to put soap. That means everything goes on the floor. The showers are so tiny that squatting and bending over in these spaces is tough. How hard is it to put a $5 shower caddy on each showerhead? There also aren’t enough hooks or any benches in the shower area. God forbid you disrobe outside the shower, your clothes end up on the wet, nasty floor. I want a tetanus shot every time I leave this place. 3) No TVs or sound hook-ups on cardio equipment: This is the first commercial gym I’ve been to in at least 10 years that doesn’t have individual TVs on cardio equipment. You can’t tune-in or plug into the TVs placed around the gym either. What’s the point of having 50 TVs playing if I have to read the subtitles from 50 ft away? (Note, I know that if I’m doing cardio hard enough I shouldn’t be able to watch TV, but that’s not the point. The vast majority of people like to put the news or a show on for background noise and it’s routinely expected at gyms.) I’m stuck in my contract for the year, but you should really check out other options before signing up at this place.

I tried not to post my disastifaction online, instead I brought it to the managament. I sent an email to the member services email provided by the company. In the email I complained about a list of items; 1. Lack of a friendly welcoming staff 2. lack of a informed and helpful staff (I recieved insufficient information more than once) 3. Lack of cleanliness in the gym 4. The annoying way they make you jump hoops to cancel. 5. Poor management. (Louise the manager does not know how to deal with unhappy customers) I recieve the following response from George Katsarakes; "Kayla, Our cancellation policy is very clear and is available on our web site. You also signed a contract and initialed the information when you joined us. Please send in a certified letter requesting your contract be termintaed and it will be processed and you will be cancelled in 30 days. You can include both names on the same ceritifed letter. This process is in place to protect both of us from problems in the future. Thank you, George" First of all, I find it unprofessional that he did not even sign this email with his full name. Second, he did not address one sinlge complaint of mine, it is clear this company does not care about making their customers happy. They care about stealing moeny and hiring insufficient staff at low wages. Third, thank you for reminding me that I signed a contract. Perhaps if your staff pointed out the simple fact that there are two different wow workout websites with different cancellation policies I would not feel like you swindle customers. Simply pointing this out to customers will likely reduce the confusion when these customers cancel at wow to join a legitimate gym. I think the corporate office of Wow should reconsider offering this company as a franchise. The rude owners of these franchises are ruining the name of wow.

I am not a huge fan to be at a gym in the first place. I love fresh air. Having said that, I got exactly what I was fearing the most...as soon as I walked in the door, the smell was disgusting. Okay, people work out so put a few air purifiers or better ventilation in the place. After all, its big enough for this. The fact that you cant even cancel your membership at the desk but have to go through certified mail is ridiculous. I get that no one should be able to cancel your membership for you( like a spouse or partner) but the certified mail is just a way to have you go out of your way and for them to get more money since they know it is a pain for people to take the time out of their working days to actually write a cancellation letter and get to the post office, let alone wanting to pay money for cancelling in addition to the money the gym already has gotten from someone not even being there. I only went there like four times...new to machines I would have thought staff could have been helpful without trying to talk me into a personal trainer at $$$. They had classes available at stupid times for me as well. I am a late night person, not an early morning person. At least have Zumba classes at like 6 PM instead of 9 AM or take a survey from customers as to what times are the best to attend a class. Bottom line is they are about money and not about caring about clients. When you quit they dont even bother to ask why so maybe they can improve in some way. Dont waste your time here. Ill pay the extra money for a place that is clean, cares, and maybe even has a pool if need be.

I encountered major heart problems shortly after joining. Upon requesting a release from my training contract, they gave me a form document requiring a letter from the doctor sent by certified mail. Followed the instructions, mailed to Glastonbury as required, and never heard from them. WOW Glastonbury and Corporate kept billing my credit card. It seems there are two separate companies - one for the gym, one for fitness training. Glastonbury apparently ignored the letter. Now Im going after them for full refund of training charges (training which was never delivered), and considering BBB and legal action. My doctors office said, "Weve had dealings with that company." My suggestion: Be Very Careful, document everything. But Wait! It gets better! Repeated attempts to email the letter failed to arrive with the attachment. (Strange - attachments arrived in my BCC email with no problems). After several calls by Customer Service, they offered to accept a fax from the Doctors office, but stated that it wouldnt be sufficient unless it stated that the condition was permanent or had been going on for two years! Ill most strongly recommend that you avoid signing anything without having your attorney read it first - and then remember: Youre dealing with hostiles who are very good at getting your money.

This gym is disgusting. Everything is dirty, dark, damp, and broken. The Stairmasters are a high demand cardio machine. So much so, that they often put up signs requesting people to limit their use to 30mins...instead of using our annual dues and money theyve been robbing others by overcharging them to buy more. These machines sat broken for 3 weeks before one day they just took them out completely. The kids that work there were told theyd be getting new ones. 3 months later, still no stairmaster! As for the rest of the machines - good luck finding something that isnt "temporarily out of order." The tanning beds are a joke. I think Ive actually LOST color trying to use them. Theyre always dirty. I actually got attacked by a moth while I was in there once and the same dirty, dust covered almond sat in the corner of the changing area for weeks. Ive actually asked people to grab a vaccuum and clean. On top of that, theyre placed right next to the front desk, very little privacy. The bathrooms are always wet. Water, condensation, and mold everywhere. I refuse to use them at this point. The owner is a crook! Save your money and go to any of the surrounding gyms.
