Im writing this review in the hopes that other parents and families will not have to go through the uncomfortable and awkward situation that my children recently went through at My Gym. We had been attending for ~ 6 months and thought that everything was going quite well. Our children really enjoyed participating and we felt that the staff was generally well trained and attentive. Recently when we showed up for our regular class we were denied access due the class being full. We were a bit confused as we have always prepaid and both our credit card and contact information are on file. Instead of playing our children were told that they needed to leave immediately. Explaining to your children why only they must leave was not a pleasant experience (they were quite upset and didn’t understand). We have since received an email from the owner implying that my children were no longer welcome due to behavior issues. As parents, either my wife or I were always present during the classes, yet no one every discussed any behavior issues with us, nor was their behavior in any way unique relative to the other children participating. The issue that the owner points out is that my children exhibit too much “silliness” and are thus no longer welcome to attend. It’s laughable that children can’t be silly and have fun within the confines of a class. It’s negligent to not discuss any perceived concerns with parents (in person, email, phone, text, etc…) prior to taking action. And it’s certainly unacceptable to place children in such an awkward situation. As a minority, I have endured my share of discrimination and it certainly feels like my children just got their first taste of it.

The reason I am writing this is because of the review by bfair which I find *incredible* considering the way both I and my "minority" children are treated at My Gym in Glastonbury. We are always greeted with smiles and "Hi (insert correct pronunciation of childs name which is non-mainstream and difficult)!" There have been times when the class is full and not everyones child is the center of attention - which is basically impossible. But otherwise I have noticed that all children are treated with kindness, enthusiasm and respect - as are their parents. As an anthropologist I watch very closely how people interact and I have never, in over three years, seen any of the behaviors described below by any staff or the owners. It makes me very angry to think that bfairs review might make some people not bring their children to this venue. The gym is clean, colorful, kid-safe and the staff are the most caring folks I have met. And believe me, Ive experience racial bias in Glastonbury as well as around the world. Ive brought my kids to this awesome kids gym and spoken with other parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles of many many ethnic backgrounds who have brought their kids here. They have all loved it - particularly during our long winters when there are few places the kids can work off all their energy. I only wish there was a gym like this that *I* could go to!

I love my gym!!! The teachers are fantastic!!! You can tell they love their job and love each kiddo that comes in. The activities are perfect for my 2 year old. Everything from stretches, to songs, dancing, gymnastics, and even imaginative play. Seriously the best way to spend a morning with a toddler. They get to play, learn, and be supported in a super fun, safe and gorgeous facility!! I have taken all 3 of my kids here over the past 8 years and have always loved each and every class. The new building they just moved into is so nice- big, super clean, and easy to get to. You really cant go wrong here. If you have a little one in your life, do yourself a favor and check out a trial class- you will love it!!!!!

SO MUCH FUN!! My son isnt even walking yet, but he loves it here. The staff is always so enthusiastic and super friendly, not to mention accommodating. The most appropriate class doesnt work in our schedule, so we signed up for a class thats hes not quite ready for... but they were completely fine with that and help him as needed. Every week there is something new and exciting - they move the equipment around, have new skill stations, activities, toys and songs! What we love, especially in the winter, is that when youre registered for a class, you can attend Practice and Play sessions for free! Every time we go, the staff is sure to greet my son by name and spend at least a few minutes with him.

We love My Gym! We started classes when my son was in preschool and kept going into early elementary school. The teachers were very professional, provided high quality classes, and seamlessly modified the activities to the individuals in the class. The teachers were always warm and welcoming. I appreciated My Gyms make-up policy, because I didnt feel like my son was missing out if he was out sick or we were on vacation. The facility and equipment always looked clean and I didnt worry about my son picking up germs in the gym. My son had a great 7th birthday party at My Gym, where the teachers made him feel special and helped him celebrate his day with his friends.

My daughters both love this place! I was able to bring them to the sibling class so they could do class together and they really love being able to play together. I love that theyre not just playing, theyre learning stuff too, i have seen a big difference in the way that they are both able to do things they could never do before since theyve been going to class. My favorite part of My Gym is that they move the equipment around every week. My girls love coming into class and finding where the ball pit is this week. We just booked my older daughters birthday party there as well. The staff is always friendly and cheerful too, that makes a big difference!

Went to My Gym for a 3 years old birthday party. Before going checked out the website for birthday parties and from the friends invite it was supposed to be a princess/train party. Well, for the pricing of the birthday party packages, the so called princess and train decorations...were so lame. They had a fleece type blankets taped to the wall which kept falling down and a plastic princess wall hanging hung up with duct tape. Did not see what the extra cost was for having princess/train decorations wasnt worth it. The staff for the party were ok. Yes the place was clean. I wasnt impressed with this place. Definately not a place I would go back to.

I started bringing my daughter here when she was 6 weeks old (yes, they start that young). She is incredibly social and has made every developmental milestone early. My pediatrician is amazed. Good parenting, good food and My Gym are the secrets! The staff is awesome, and the facility is so fun and clean. Weve been to other programs but these guys get it. It really is "an enrichment program disguized as play". I know I must sound like a commercial, but Amy and Dave and the crew are like family to us!

I felt the staff played favorites with the parents and children they knew well. My child was ignored and I did not feel welcomed enough to come back. The place was very clean which was great but the staff seemed more intrested in cleaning then actually getting to know my son. I felt like maybe the owner has issues with race since my son was the only minority there and he seemed to get the least amount of attention.
