Me and my significant other have been a member of this gym for *almost* 1 year now. Approximately 2 weeks ago, I let one of the employees know that we would be cancelling our membership since we are moving to San Diego at the end of this week and they do not have any locations in the area. The employee assured me everything would be taken care of for our cancellation of the membership effective this week. We noticed a charge on both of our credit cards for $29 today, which is Planet Fitnesss annual membership fee. My significant other called in to inquire about the charge since our membership is to be cancelled as of this week, so we shouldnt be paying an annual fee for a membership we wont have. The employee I spoke with when I inquired about cancelling never mentioned this fee (as he should as part of good customer service) and assured everything would be okay as far as cancelling. I feel his lack of mentioning the fee was deceptive and sneaky. When he called to inquire about the charge and have it refunded, they said it was nonrefundable despite speaking with someone 2 weeks prior to cancel the membership. The manager, Mary, said she would speak with her employees to see what occurred and would call my significant other back to see what she could do. Not only did he have to call Mary back, but she also said she would not refund the charge. While I understand that the company has to make money, to try to scam $29 out of someone who will not be using the membership (because I cannot since they have no locations where I am moving) is disgusting to me. They have a lot of members who they are receiving this fee from. Out of good customer service, they should refund them since we will not be using the gym for the year the annual fee applies to. Its truly disgusting to charge an annual fee to people who will not be using your gym for any part of that calendar year in my opinion. Not to mention, we havent even been members for a full year, so were paying an annual fee for a year that we wont be using when our current year isnt even up yet.

Very disappointed in this place! Signed a membership and they claim its open 24/5 but I just went over there and they are closed right now! Such false advertisement, if you clean your open 24 five then you should be open 24/5! The only reason and I really mean the only reason they are getting three stars is because there is a young guy with dark hair at the front desk that is always super friendly and super helpful ! Otherwise to be honest the place is kind of a dump, Im currently now driving to Elkton Maryland to go to the gym and out of my way when I should be able to use my gym right now! Just cant describe how disappointed I am with you right now planet fitness! I guess the bright side to all this is I will be able to experience it Elkton Marylands this evening, they have a beautiful location and the people are beyond friendly they really go above and beyond !! The Brookside location literally only has like one friendly employee and like I said thats the young dark hair Caucasian guy! The manager is a woman there I believe and every time I see her she looks like a miserable bulldog Ive never seen her put a smile on her face. Moral to the story instead of me sitting on your complaining maybe I should just switch my membership and drive the extra distance to Maryland!

Terrible. Thats the only way to put it. The staff is so rude and unfriendly. Unfortunately I am in a year contract so I will be frequenting there for the remainder but I will never again join Planet Fitness. The womens locker room isnt dirty although it reeks. But that is to be expected at a gym. There are 4 weight bars, and one is ALWAYS "out of order" . One day out of a week the sign is removed but I wont use it because who knows if the staff forgot to put it back up. But why is it so hard to fix it????? The tanning beds are DISGUSTING!!!! i understand we are responsible for cleaning the equipment when we are done but I mean come on PF Staff! You guys should at least mop the floors in there at the end of the day each day. Its just sad that patrons pay money each month to do something they enjoy yet have that kind of environment. But then if we decide to "Break" our contract because the facility is dirty and the staff is so rude, for those of us who are BC members, we have to pay a fee which is ridiculous. Hopefully the owner or manager will see these reviews and clean their act up. I would love to walk in there and be greeted by friendly faces and a clean facility.

I love this gym. I used to live near the gym so it was in walking distance which made it perfect for going at whatever hour I wanted. 24 hours is awesome and its so cheap. I love the fact that its a cheap membership but its not a ghetto gym. Granted, they try to stay up to date and keep it looking nice but there are a few parts of the gym (with signs or leaks) that should really be fixed much faster than they are...but not enough of a distraction to make me look elsewhere to workout. I wish they used the lunk alarm more. I absolutely hate when people drop weights and I always see the associates just sitting at the front desk texting. Regardless, I love this gym and I really cant push myself to join elsewhere because of the cost and convenience. I just wish they had more free weights and free standing equipment because its always a wait for the captains chair (since they only have one) and some of my fav free weights are always taken.

Equipment is ok at best, basic free weights and machines. Cardio equipment is hit and miss, some of the machines are noisy and out of order at random times. The staff is what kills any positive reviews. The rules are different depending on the time of day and who is working. Some members of staff are helpful and others couldnt care less, especially in the early morning. Locations go through the trouble of checking in members from other locations but computers are not connected for account assistance or member services. I only have experience with the mens locker room, but Im sure its no different for the womens locker room, it was musty and the floor was wet by the urinals and toilets. The Smith Machine underneath the A/C unit gets wet from the unit leaking onto it and is frequently out of order as a result. Go only if you have to or dont mind dealing with the negatives to get in a good work out like I try to.

Ive been going to this gym for around a a year now, anywhere between 3-10 times a week (sometimes twice a day), all different times of day (5am to 10pm). The gym is decently large, has decent selection of free weights and machines, and is cheap. However, its REALLY bad at regulating temperature. In the mornings, its freezing, even in the middle of summer. In the evenings, it gets very hot. The water fountain temperature is often times warmer than the air temperature inside in the mornings. Ive mentioned this a few times, but I dont think the workers there can really do anything. It gets busy around 5-8/9pm on weekdays, and is fine most of the time on weekends. Best times Ive found which worked for me have been 5-7am or 8-10pm on weekdays and 9-11am on weekends.
