Im new to D.C. and still trying to find the right stylist in my new town. I have tried a few other places over the past few months (always using Groupon - because that way, if its not-so-great? at least I spent a smaller fortune!), but I think I may have found my hairs new home. I was initially a little concerned, due to the fact that the place was totally empty, but to be fair: EVERYTHING was empty. It was "snowing" in the District so everything had closed up shop early. Thankfully, Reda (my stylist) agreed to stay to help me out with my lackluster locks, as Im flying to Detroit tomorrow for a bridal shower and needed last minute attention! Any concern I had flew right out the picture window when Reda started his consultation. He was informative, knowledgeable, and an honest-to-God good listener. All stylists will listen to you prattle on about your job, your marriage, your kids, blah blah blah...but when it comes to listening to what you want with your HAIR? Most seem to skip over that part and proceed directly to the part where theyre doing whatever THEY want. Not Reda. He listened, gave suggestions, made sure I was comfortable with the process and away he went. And now? My hair is lovely. Perfectly highlighted, shiny-soft, gorgeously textured...and the best part??! EXACTLY how I like it. And by the way? I am a real person. I have not been paid for this review. And I dont work for the salon. Im just a very satisfied customer. And Ill be back. Thanks, Reda!

I have been thinking about cutting off my long hair for ages and going for a bob. I went into Charmed and met with Selim. He was a little reluctant to chop off my hair, and made sure that I was ready for the change. He first cut my hair in long layers to show me that my flat, boring, fine hair could look fabulous long. After doing the first cut, I decided that I still wanted a short cut, and he gave me the most wonderful, versatile cut! He told me why he cut my hair how he did, how he was adding body and texture, and was telling me that my awfully drab hair could look fabulous with a good cut. I was so pleased with my new look, and I did not experience the horror I usually do when I chop off my locks (and cry for hours afterward). This was a no regret cut; my boyfriend told me after that I should always keep my hair short (this coming from a typical guy who thinks that sexy= long hair) and he couldnt stop telling me how wonderful I look!

"Reda from Morroco" must have a divine connection to heaven, because my girlfriend comes home floating on air every time and I end up chasing her around the house she is SO GORGEOUS! Words cannot express her joy and confidence that Reda instills every time she goes! He does everything with such grace, charm, SPEED, and precision – that you are totally faked out by the modest environment. You would expect this kind of superb excellence in the finest salons in the fanciest establishments in NYC and Rodeo Drive in LA. Again, I am speechless in expressing the wonderful sense of beauty and well being that Reda brings out in every woman (and man) he performs his sculptures magic upon! If you are disappointed in his work, the angels in heaven will be weeping and I think God will personally come down and have a chat with you! I love this guy!! Hes such a brilliant creator! Jerome

It all started well, Reda was polite and professional in the begining. my hair started to take longer than he expected :-( sorry can not help it i have thick shoulder length hair. i had color hair cut and blow dry. OMG it was a disaster, my cut was like he did nothing at all to my hair, blow dried the top of my hair where the bottom part was still wet and curly???? I was telling him i can do a better job and he was like yah here....... and gave me a blow dryer and a brush to do my own hair. I dont know how i did not cry i had a get together to go to after wards and my girlfriends saved me and fixed my hair not only a huge wast of money but time too. Will never ever ever go there and you should stay away too. :( oh yah and the guy at the door was smiling not knowing what to do. OMG. mad mad mad experience.

Reda is wonderful! I got a Trubates deal that was for a full color, but upon consultation, he recommended highlights instead because they are much lower maintenance. He said that the difference in price was $40.00 however, he gave me a $20.00 discount because there were a lot of customers and it was taking a while to attend to me. He gave a wonderful consultation including showing me a variety of highlight color choices and providing a recommendation when I asked for his opinion. I was unsure of exactly how to do my hair, and he gave another wonderful recommendation and gave an expert cut. I ended up not being able to find my trubates coupon upon payment, and he thankfully still gave me the discount. How nice! Great experience.

I have been going to Selim for nearly 4 years and my family, friends and co-workers have all been referred to him as well; many are now repeat customers! Selim is an amazing stylist. He isnt afraid to take a risk with a drastic cut or bold color job, and he really listens to his clients and gives a quality cut and color for very reasonable prices. He keeps cards with each clients exact color formula to revisit each time and I have never been disappointed with a haircut or color from Selim. Charmed is in the perfect location, metro-accessible, and its an un-pretentious and fun salon with great music and never too crowded. Highly recommend Selim and Charmed Salon!

Funda is great!! I got a keratin treatment with her last week, and my hair has NEVER looked this good. In my entire life. Funda asked me lots of questions and listened carefully to my feedback in order to get everything just right, and she was incredibly careful and thorough in applying the product and meticulously drying and flatironing my hair (yes, even though it is very long and thick!). She had to take a short personal call in the middle of the process, but I didnt really mind. She also made sure I understood the process for hair care after the treatment and gave me great advice for cut/color options in the future. I highly recommend! :)

OMG I loved my experience there. It was my first time at this salon and I am very picky about who does my hair. Selim was very polite and experienced. He had great recommendations for my hair that can be a pain for me.Selim took my drab out of shape hair and made it sexy, bouncy and silky. He evened out my colour and gave me a look that I am in love with. Tufan applied the colour and gave me the most wonderful scalp massage that I have every had. The two gentlemen are definitely my stylists from now on. I loved the experience and would recommend it to any and all.

I have also been going to him for years (6), and I have tried most other places that are recommended in DC. No one else is as good. Ive brought several of my friends there, and they love him too. Some of them have moved and wait until they visit DC to get haircuts. Hes very patient and talks to you about what the trouble spots are with your hair and what he recommends you do with your haircut to fix them. Hes great with mens haircuts, but I just brought my mom to get her haircut and she loved it.
