The Best Barshop in town. I can send my boys in this barber shop and I do not have to worry about the conversations being too much for their ears even without me being present... Taking into consideration that the area is changing (its is not the same Shaw community that I grew up in) Cuttin -Up is moving forward as well. Connie and Lettie are there to service the customer who were not raised in the Shaw community if you understand where I am going. My kids Barber is Stoney. Juan does a good job as well on black hair. Connie and Lettie do an excellent job on hair from other races I have watched her pump her clients on a Saturday and she does good business. Cuttin -Up gets 10 stars we are on our way there now!!!!! **********

Juan and Stoney are and have been for years, true examples of professionalism, perseverance and honest commitment to community. They are the soul of Cuttin-Up Barber Shop and it is what a neighborhood barbershop should strive to be. One doesnt need glitz, sparklers and hype to get a good, old-fashioned shave, trim or high quality cut. Its just comforting to know that when you get to the door, they are where they have been for almost 20, if not more than 20 years... in service to family, friends and the community. Its a great shop with a fantastic team of people always willing to serve others. It isnt just about a cut at Cuttin-Up. Cuttin-Up is neighborhood royalty.

I usually cut my hair at a Howard University campus Barber, until I came across Cuttin- Up Barber Shop!!! Awesome everyday people who do what they do best in the most professional way……………. The Shop is not like your usual Barber spots; its clean, the topics discussed are never xxx rated or inappropriate, your always greeted with a smile, handshake and or by name. Juan, Stony, Connie and Latisha: Together they all create the atmosphere of comfort/ that back home Caribbean feeling. Currently in Washington D.C. for a few days. Needed a haircut and a beard trim after 5 weeks of traveling the states. I searched for a local barber, and found Cuttin-up Barber shop, which had some good reviews. I was not disappointed. Walked right in without any appointment and got to the seat after waiting around 15 minutes. Staff is very friendly and talkative. Stoney gave me a perfect haircut and beard trim. I was very pleased. Prices are very reasonable. I strongly recommend a haircut and/or a beard trim here.

Out here visiting D.C all the way from Santa Cruz mountains California. ...happen to pass by the place while walking to the local coffee joint.(First Cup)Decided that it is time to finally get a real hair cut after doing it myself for all these years. This place was ridiculous. I walked in on my lunch break from work, there was one guy cutting hair and one customer getting into the chair. Fair enough I can wait an hour lunch should be plenty. After sitting for an hour I got up and left. I can understand taking your time but this was absolutely absurd. Cutting a guys hair who barely had any while socializing in excess is extremely unprofessional. I cant believe this place stays open.

I was traveling on business to DC and walked to three barbershops and they were not up to par or presentable. I found Stoney at Cuttin Up Barbershop and I was highly concerned with my cut however he reassured me that he could deliver on what I needed. I had the best haircut I have ever had now I hate that I do not live here to get another. Haircut!! COME HERE CUT OUT THE SEARCH!! #TheBest

My new favorite barbershop. Walked in randomly just needing a cut and a beard line-up, walked out feeling like Id known Stoney and Juan for years. Friendliest barbers you can find and great cuts for a solid price. Got great advice from Stoney about shaving to reduce razor bumps and had an overall great time! Def recommend this place for all guys (not just black either) in the District!

I went to Cuttin-up on my lunch break and had no problem getting in. It seems as if Juan is used to a certain type of haircut but I talked him through what I wanted and he did a great job. Hes super friendly so Ill probably swing by again and shoot the breeze with him but maybe go to another Barber Shop more familiar with my hair (straight and blonde)

Ok..first. If you have "black people" hair this is not the place for you. The lady (Connie) cuts hair in about 10 minutes, and no..Its not because shes just that good. Honestly you might as well go get your buddys little sister drunk, give her clippers and let her mess your head up b/c thats what is about to happen if you let her touch your head.

If you want a short-style haircut, whether youre black or white, Stoney is your man. Temple taper, skinny fade, high-top fade, hooks, you name it, Stoney can do it and do it very well. If you want a proper fade and nice line, you cant go wrong with Stoney.

One of the best haircuts Ive had. Takes some time ( about 20-25 mins) and costs a couple bucks more than the chains but very friendly professional service. Would definitely recommend.
