DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company. Last December 2013 we used House of travel to book a house in Playa del Carmen Mexico. The house was reserved and a deposit was given. House of travel then purchased the airplane tickets for me and other 13 family members. At this point everything was in order or so we thought. House of travel had recieved communication that the house was no longer available because they had rent it to higher paying customer. Then they tried to do the old bait and switch and tried to accomodate us in Conzumel. Obviously we did not go for it and cancelled the whole reservation. However they left us with the problem of 14 unused airplane tickets that they had purchased on our behalf and were not refundable. They only offered us travel vouchers even though they new beforehand that the house was no longer available and went ahead and purchased the tickets anyways. 4 months later we are still disputing the claim with Amex, Thank god for them. STAY CLEAR FROM THIS BUSINESS. They are far from honest. They will use any trick and tactic to steal money from you. You have been warned. Alvaro E Salcedo

Watch out for travel policy that they make no mention of at time of booking. Had to issue chargeback through amex and finally got their accounting department to credit the amount because another traveler took over the trip. It took 10 days for the credit to go through and their customer service refused to provide a date of when the credit was issued after clearly requesting a date (to get a time line as to when the credit would hit my account). Poor customer service. Seems like a small company where personality rules over fair / transparent business practices. I do not recommend this travel agency at all, book elsewhere. Its appalling that I was treated like a peon and a refund date was never provided. I got "credit was issued" - insulting!

Nora Howfield at house of travel almost ruined all my vacation plans! Although I received confirmation from their office with confirmation numbers, when I arrived at the airport I found that none of the information was, in fact, true. I had to spend an additional $600+ dollars to book my flights standing in line at the airport. I sent Nora an email and she never replied back to it or called me as requested. When I called her after arriving at my destination, she simply acted dumbfounded. The manager was no better either at resolving my issues. When I asked for the owners name-the manager refused. My company uses this travel agency and I am going to let them know how awful my experience was. BUYER BEWARE!
