I would recommend staying as far away from this "daycare" as possible. My baby was 6 months old when he went to this center. The infant room is tiny. The equipment is old. The infant teacher was a sweet, kind woman and did well with my child. The owner is a vile, opinionated woman. The owner screamed at me and my husband, told me my baby was too loud, told me my infant should be on a schedule (that she approved of). We could not pick up our child between certain hours. She gave food to our 6 month old baby that we did not provide or approve, such as raisins. She lectured us on parenting decisions, including using a pacifier for a baby. When I attempted to talk to this woman about our differences, she screamed at me and was demeaning. I was shaking. When she told me my child screamed too loud and woke up the other children, I made up my mind that my child needed to leave immediately. She was talking about a BABY,not an older child, a BABY. There is not enough staff to adequately care for children. Here are some other things I observed; Children crying when their parents left and not one caregiver hugging or consoling them, just leaving the child at the door to cry. 1 year old and older children constantly watching television, sometimes educational videos, usually movies, I recognized Matilda once. I have never seen a child on the playground. My family drives by there, we live in the neighborhood, and never see children playing. On the positive side, the center is very clean. There just isnt any love, understanding, or in my opinion proper early childhood education. As a final note, you will find good reviews of this school in state and local department of children and family, because the owner knows how to make everything just legal. She does not have a good reputation in the community or amongst childcare givers. My advice:if you use this place, show up when not expected, you will be surprised.

I gave it 1 star because I had to, I would say it is negative a million. I was employed there for one month, I witnessed Elaine the director abusing the children, she seems like such a kind woman and it is easy to fall under her spell. However she hits the children with rulers, she yells and slaps them across the face, and if your child is cranky she will medicate them with OTC meds as she sees fit. Please be careful when sending your child here I know she is the least expensive in the area but she actually has a large file at DCF with reports about her. I reported the abuse but was shortly fired when I fought with her after she hit my child so the police said that they did not have a case. She will likely respond that I am out to get her but please I think of the children under her care often and my heart aches everytime I see that she is still open. MAKE NO MISTAKE I WAS FIRED FOR REPORTING HER ABUSE TO THE POLICE, WHOM DID NOTHING BECUASE SHE IS MARRIED TO A COP. I TOOK CARE OF THOSE BABIES LIKE THEY WERE MY CHILDREN, AND SHE BEAT THEM FOR VARIOUS THINGS LIKE NOT SLEEPING IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME ASK YOUR CHILDREN I WAS NOT FIRED BECUASE I "HANDLED THE CHILDREN IMPROPERLY " I WAS FIRED BECUASE I REFUSED TO ALLOW HER TO HIT THE CHILDREN UNDER MY CARE. Also I was fired 8 years ago, and in that time no one else has stood up to her, if you dont believe me that she is awful go ask another local daycare about her

I worked here for less than two weeks and I can honestly tell you that this is the worse learning environment Ive ever seen. Children should be left in an environment where they feel comfortable and safe. The owner yelled at me for attempting to comfort a screaming 13 month old that was only there for 2 weeks and has never been away from his mom. No child is allowed to be soothed because they need it be "trained" The owner and staff are cruel to the children spanking them and drugging them so that they will nap. Also, her idea of educating is ridiculous. She wants children to sit down and draw sticks and circles everyday. She refuses to let teachers teach these children how to properly write their name, letters and numbers. How can children go to kindergarten without even knowing how to write the name? The classrooms are small and overly cluttered with outdated learning material. Please, make a conscious decision and spend the extra money to put your child(ren) in a quality childcare where they wont be spanked, force fed, and drugged. I walked out of this school because it is everything I am against. And of course she will respond to this because she loves arguing but the truth needs to be told.

A friend of mine recommended Small World School to me when my infant twins were about to be born. I took a ride over and met Ms. Elaine to talk about their program and have been traveling back and forth ever since. My children are now four years old. They have always been well cared for and treated like family. Ms. Elaine knows her business and runs a tight ship, but my kids are well disciplined and respect authority. In addition, they are learning pre-school lessons everyday and this year both my children signed their names to their Dads Fathers Day card -- what a proud moment! And believe me, I can not take any of the credit for these skills. Bringing my kids to Small World School feels more like going to grandmoms house, not school. There is plenty of time for that...for now I am happy my children get to learn and play in a safe, comfortable environment. Thank you Small World School and Ms. Elaine, for taking good care of my babies.

I am so happy that I found this preschool. I was a bit apprehensive at about sending my two year old off to school and wanted to make sure I was making the right choice. After visiting small world school, my decision was made. My daughter loved all the different activities: painting, sandplay, puzzles, yoga, waterplay, sports, music, playdough. However, what I was most impressed with was how the teachers interacted with the children. They have special ability for communicating self confidence, socialization, and problem solving skills. Small world school is not just a wonderful community for children, but also for the parents. I have developed wonderful friendships and have learned so much that has helped me become a better mom. Trust me, try it and you will feel the love.

Loved it!! Small World is a wonderful place. Ms, Elaine & her teachers show my daughter so much love, and affection. When I drop her off every morning I feel at ease knowing she will be taken care of. They constantly send me photos of my little angel playing and laughing all day long. I would not hesitate to tell anyone to go visit this Daycare. I am so confident with Small World School that when I moved I tried to stay as close as possible to Ms.Elaine so my daughter did not have to go to another daycare. Best place for your child to attend!

Great School! My baby just started attending recently and I have nothing but good things to say about it! The teachers are all caring and attentive to not only my child but the older children as well. When I have been in there at the end of the day to pick my baby up I have observed the teachers working together to come up with new fun and educational activites for the older kids. I also have talked to a lot of the parents who have kids attending. They are all happy with the school and a few attended the school themselves as children!!!
