The same happened with my dad as the guy below. He was told that they had canceled his membership but they charged him for an entire year and refused to refund any of the money. They also defaulted my sisters membership to a weekly rate charge which almost doubled her bill. Facility wise: Pluses. + Great if you play racquetball, like to swim, or play basketball + Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles + People are generally friendly + The use of Cape and Naples locations are included as well. (The Naples one is awesome) Minuses. - I would bet a free year there that they oversold their membership capacity -peak times are extremely difficult to get on equipment. Normal are not terrible but can be hit or miss -You can expect the equipment to be dirty as one janitor covers the entire building and the antibacterial measures available to members consist of roll of paper towels and a 30 pump dispenser of soapy water :initial locker room (mens) is very nice, but the showers are lacking I was a member at Omni off of boyscout originally and figured I would give L.A. a shot, but I will switching back as soon as my prepaid months expire. Omni: +Probably half the size yet staffs two janitors and stocks purell pre moistened wipes all over the place so people actually take the time to use them. +I guarantee the showers are bigger than your walk in closet, complete with a bench in each shower. Though there are less, they typically are available. +Modern equipment that is relevant. At L.A. some dumbbell benches dont convert positions (like 4 or 5) whereas all are universal at Omni. In my opinion Omni is just a smarter layout with less wasted space. L.A. is square shaped with a 25-75 walkway split while Omni has a rhombus like walkway in around that encloses the majority of the equipment while the remainder is strewn across the outlying edges. AKA getting to the next machine isnt like trying to machete your way through a rainforest of people and equipment. +Ladies: Vincent Salon and Spa is connected for your hair and nails. The owner is a great guy - Smaller (if that is a minus for you) - No racquetball, basketball, or swimming - Can get busy during peak hours as well, but does not have the oversold feel - Slightly more expensive if you just say yes to whatever price they put on the table

When it comes to the overall facilities, LA Fitness cannot be matched. They have all the amenities you can ask for; pool, raquetball, basketball, weights, the whole gamut. But like all companies that "claim" to be service oriented, they fall drastically short. Due to financial restrictions, I could no longer afford to work out here. I called and asked about the proper steps to cancel my membership and in return was told I needed to come in, no cancellation could be completed over the phone. I soon complied and spoke with one of the front desk associates. I asked to speak with a manager about cancelling my membership but was told that she could help me right there. She simply scanned my keychain pass, clicked the mouse a few times and told me I was all set. I asked if that was all it took, and she replied "Yes". I was given no receipt and never sent an email confirmation for my actions. I then asked about a refund for the last month (the billing date was 3 days prior to my cancelling) and was informed that there would be no money back but that I could use the facilities for the next 30 days. After checking my most recent bank statement, I soon discovered that the girl I spoke with clearly was not the right person. I was again charged and when I called to speak with a Manager, they checked the computer and found NOTHING in their system about my previous actions. All they could see is that my pass had been scanned on the day in question. In conclusion I was given a west coast number to Member Services and told I can speak with someone who has "more authority". Since I have no proof that my cancellation (on both ends) went through, I am confident at the end of this process, I will simply be out more money. The only new information that could be mustered up was that the proper person WAS WORKING that day and couldve helped me. Thanks for nothing LA. Good riddance.

BEWARE OF A RIP OFF!!! I CALLED IN FOR THIS SCHOOL ON THE 23RD OF THIS MONTH AT THE DAY OF CLASS . NOT ONLY REPRESENTATIVE MISSPELLED MY NAME , MY PHONE NUMBER, AND EMAIL ADDRESS SHE ALSO MISLEAD ME ABOU THE POLICES AND THE CANCELLATION FEE. ON THE WAY TO THE CLASS I CALLED TO FIND OUT THAT I AM NOT EVEN IN THE SYSTEM. THEY HAD TO MANUALLY ENTER MY INFORMATION AND CHARGED MY CARD . AFTER THE CLASS THE SAME DAY I CALLED TO CANCEL ALL FUTURE CLASSES BECAUS ETHE LEVEL OF CHLORINE IS SO HIGH IN THE POOL THAT IT IS HARD TO BREATH, MY 9 YEAR OLD HAD HER EYES SO IRRITATED THAT I HAD TO GIVE HER TYLENOL FOR PAIN AND RINCE THE EYES WITH WATER FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. SHE FELT BURNING ALMOST WHOLE NIGHT . THE TRAINERS ARE GOOD, BUT THE WHOLE COMPANY TERRIBLE. THEY DID NOT CARE THAT I HAD TO CANCEL THE CLASS BECAUSE OF HEAL REASONS . THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE CLASS TO THE END OF THE MONTH AND ANOTHER $30.00 CANCELLATION FEE . A TOTAL RIP OFF

As someone who has been a member at another LA Fitness for nearly 2 years (since my home gym opened) I was somewhat schocked at the layout and condition of this location. The locker room was dirty and poorly light. The sauna needs to be shutdown and deep-cleaned or rebuilt, it reminded me of a hot, dark cave or a freeway underpass including the crumbling concrete under the benches. The equipment was in great shape, however I only saw a few people wiping down the equipment when they were finished using it, nor did I see any staff going around cleaning The gym. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. My advise would be for corporate to consider updating this facility. New lighting, paint, and more recent fixtures would go a long way. To have LA Fitness plastered all over the building and to charge a premium price for membership you must offer members a premium product in return.

I was leery of joining this gym due to the abundance of negative reviews. However, I noticed most of them were 2-3 year old. We tried a 1-week guest pass and we were pleasantly surprised and have joined. The front desk staff are friendly, especially Felix. He seems to know EVERYBODY. They have an abundance of equipment and the classes are very well attended. I cant vouch for their cleanliness, but I see a lady washing the racquetball walls every time I am there. The only downside is how busy it is Mon-Thurs from 5-8. Those are the times I can attend. I guess that is the same time most other people can attend. Congratulations on your current success and wish you the best in the future.

Ive had a membership with them for a couple of years. I broke my ankle and couldnt run anymore, so I joined the gym so I could take the spinning classes they offered. For the past few months, the AC has not been working in the spinning class at the Gulf Coast Town Center location. The instructor opens the door to let some air in, but that does very little. Ive brought it to their attention but they have still not fixed it. The spinning class is the only reason I go and if I cant use that, Im afraid Ill have to cancel my membership and go somewhere else where the facilities are kept up.
