Please do not come here. It was my first time experience, and it was horrible! I got there pretty early and the woman who was there told me that I should wait till the owner, Dory, got there so that I could get my hair cut. It was around 9:40. I decided to wait the twenty minutes for Dory, even though this first woman told me that Dory had an appointment as soon as she came in. The first woman said that she could wash my hair while I waited, so I got my hair washed. Then finally Dori came in. She started with her appointment, who was getting her hair colored. Then, since there were two other women working (including the first woman), Dori asked me what I wanted. I explained to her that I wanted the back of my shorter than the front. It was a haircut I had had before. I have curly hair, so with this haircut, I knew that my hair would look very chic. I also had very long hair when I entered the hair salon. In order to make sure that Dory understood what hair I wanted, I tried to find a picture of Pinterest. As I looked for the picture (which wasnt going to take me more than a minute since I had my Pinterest up already and was looking at the different haircuts), Dory rudely said to me in Spanish, "Well, if you dont know, then I cant help you" and started walking away. At that moment I should have left because I could tell she was impatient, and people, when they are impatient, do not do their job well. I instead told her "I have the picture here." My hair by this time wasnt as wet as it was before. Dory grabbed the hair at the back of my head as though she were going to put it in a pony tail, and just CUT IT OFF. She didnt ask me what length I wanted at the back before she did this. She didnt do a test run (cut off a little so that I could see how much she would cut). She just cut it off. Now, Im not a hairdresser, but I know that that is not how you leave someones hair. Doing it that way causes it to be uneven all over; luckily though, curliness disguises unevenness. (And by curly I mean something between ringlets and wavy) A hairdresser has to imagine that the customer wont always have his or her hair curly. Needless to say, she took less than five minutes with me. Today (I got the haircut yesterday) I straightened my hair, thinking that since Dory did--or at least seemed like she did--even it out a bit, that my hair would look like a cute straightened bob. Just some minutes ago, I was told by a loved one that it was all uneven and scruffy in the back. I have never gone online to give a review, but thats because I have never felt the urgent need to share my experience with others. Yesterday, Dory not only treated me rudely, but just her overall work was rushed, sloppy, and unprofessional.... And she is the OWNER. In general, how the owner treats the customer and how the owner works is a reflection of the company. Please think more than once before going to Dorys to get a haircut, especially if its from long to short. Also, dont even think about going there when she has an appointment. I dont think it matters if youre patient. I was, and instead of being treated like a customer, I felt like Dory treated me like some farm animal that needed to get its coat shorn. Please, please, consider my experience before creating your own experience at Dorys... Never before have I cried after exiting a hair salon, but yesterday I did--hard, like I felt that little pit in my stomach. I went in happy, confident, and feeling beautiful. I left feeling ugly and questioning whether my husband would find me ugly as well.
