After two years of searching, I can happily report that my quest to find the perfect hair salon is finally over! I currently have a short hairstyle and like to keep it that way but unfortunately for my wallet, that typically requires a visit to the salon at least once every three weeks or so. Needless to say, my meager teachers salary simply was not enough to keep me happy in the hair department so instead of every three weeks, I was dragging my haircuts out to a minimum of every three months but sometimes much longer depending on the financial forecast. I had been going to an Aveda Salon close to my house and loved my stylist there, who always did an amazing job on my hair but at $60 a pop plus tip, it just wasnt practical for me to go on a regular basis. Desperate for a solution, I began to ask around and tried out a few different salons that were suggested by various friends. While all of the other places were definitely more affordable, I was not satisfied with my haircuts and started to seriously doubt whether or not it was possible to get a good haircut for a decent price. Just before all hope was lost, though, a friend recommended that I make an appointment with Timmy at Matis so I took her advice and was immediately smitten with Timmy who is so sweet and she (yes, Timmy is female) does fantastic work at unbelievable prices. Now that I have discovered Timmy at Matis, my hair expenses plummeted from $60 a pop to a mere $10 so I am happily making my visits like clockwork every three weeks. No, your eyes are not deceiving you...haircuts at Matis are only $10 but fortunately dont look as cheap as they are. The last time I was there, I saw a woman who got her hair cut and colored, paid just $35 at check out time and walked out of there looking like a total diva. The location is not the most convenient for me and the place itself looks a little run down on the outside and is a bit small on the inside but since I have yet to find comparable service at such unbeatable prices, I find it to be well worth it. I believe they are closed on Mondays but if possible, try scheduling your appointment for a Tuesday or a Wednesday because Ive noticed that they tend to get pretty packed later in the week and your appointment could end up getting delayed as a result. Though I have not yet used any of their other services, I am pretty sure that they offer manicures and pedicures too. As far as being an affordable way to keep your hair looking fabulous, though, Matis Beauty Salon is definitely the best way to go!

They always do an excellent job, take walk-ins, feed you cookies & cafecito, and its only $15! Cant beat that!
