Great greeting and only a slight delay on appointment. Thats were it ends! Told the student that I was not tender-headed and had expected a great scalp massage. Wellll that did not happen. I have never seen anyone so disinterested and what they were doing. And then to the shampoo bowl still very little lack of Interest. Felt as if I still had shampoo left in my . I had told her that do not use a lot of conditioning products in my hair as it was very fine and would be weighted down. So now its time to start cutting my hair. Had my inspiration picture which was a medium length bob. Reminded the student that I wanted my sides to be longer. Somehow that communication was disregarded. My hair was not only shorter on the sides but was uneven and a big chunk taken out of the top. So now its time to do the blow dry. Apparently she used multiple products and I left the salon looking like I was wearing a helmet. My hair was flat lacked any volume and the cut was nothing like what I had requested. Went home shampoo my hair trying to remove all the extra conditioning products and style it myself. Thats when I discovered more unevenness in the back and on the sides. I called the salon the next morning explained my problem and was offered to come back and they would have another person 3 cut my hair. Thats great except now my hair is much shorter than I had wanted it. The cut is great and they did do the right thing but unfortunately I had a bad experience from the person that initially had cut my hair. She was graduating in two weeks. Pretty scary for someone to be set out into the Working World as a cosmetologist with untrained skills. I have been an Aveda customer for many years and usually have a great experience. Unfortunately the student I was assigned to was unable to provide the great experience that Aveda is recognized for.

I was a student at this institute and graduated in May of 2015. Now that Ive been out of school for a year, I wanted to write a review to help potential students make an informed decision. The school itself is nice. The educator turn over rate is pretty high, so some of the classes while I was there saw more than one educator per phase. That was a slight annoyance, but the educators that are there are very good. The days can be long and at times it feels overwhelming, but I believe that is anywhere you choose to go. The reason I absolutely recommend this school is because I am now a stylist in a very high end salon. I make more money than Ive ever made in my life. I walked out of the school doors and walked in to the salon 100 percent prepared for the real world. You can go to any school and learn the bare basics, but Aveda will truly prepare you for the real world. You get tons of practice in the "masters" phase and you will get pushed to your limits, but that is all necessary to prepare you for what is to come in the real world. Ive never once felt uncomfortable doing something in the salon because I was so well prepared. I didnt always like the school while I was there, but Ive come to appreciate everything that I learned and all of the pushing that happened. Ive grown so much since I started this journey and the school was definitely the foundation that laid out the ground work for all of the success Im experiencing now. I should add, when I walked in to Aveda the first day of school, I knew NOTHING about hair. I had never even touched a blow dryer. If you want a great education at an affordable price, you really cant get any better than this.

Very good for simple services. Ive been here on two occasions. The first was for a pedicure, which I definitely recommend. The products used were amazing, the students very cheerful while doing superb work, and you go home with a goody bag that almost equals the cost of the whole pedi. I will definitely be going there more often for spa services. After such a great time, I decided to give the salon a try. This one Im much more iffy on. It started off well enough--the massage was lovely, and the student was very nice. However, she seemed afraid to cut my hair. I have short hair already (which is difficult to cut) that I wanted cut into a super short pixie style. It was a fight to get her to cut more than a quarter inch off. Things got worse when her teacher came over to check: when I said I wanted it shorter, the teacher somewhat harshly told her to cut it again. Afterward, I noticed the student become very tense, making me afraid to give any more suggestion. In the end, I left with a decent cut, but it was much longer and fuller than what I wanted, and I ended up having to fix the bangs when I got home. Still, other people seemed to like it; Im just upset because I had very different expectations. Part of the problem, I realized when I was paying, was that despite scheduling with a master student, I was placed with a mid-level. I would be willing to try again with a somewhat more experienced student. However, I know now not to expect much more than simple styles and techniques (they are still learning, after all).

Never been so disappointed with a hair service in my life! My hair is the EXACT SAME as it was when I walked in the door. Been here numerous times and have spent plenty of money. Typically not one to complain but the level of customer service I just received (or lack thereof is a better way of saying it) was so appalling, I feel compelled to let others know. After expressing my dissatisfaction for 2 days, I was finally given a call back only to be told I could come back and RE-PAY to fix my hair. Their reasoning after basically calling me a LIAR was that I declined "toner" that was recommended by instructor to stay in a certain price point. Thats complete BS. For one)-I sat in the sink area unattended for 20 minutes WITH TONER in my hair while my student disappeared. For two)-highlights should include toner. I would think that any professional company would go out of their way to make amends for loyal customers. Besides that, being a school that is teaching students how to care for clients, earn their loyalty and keep coming them coming back, this is a perfect example of how NOT to achieve customer loyalty. Very sad because I come here often as does my sister every 4-6 weeks. So completely flabbergasted by this! To prove I didnt decline "toner" like I was told to be the reason they cant fix their mistake, I have posted pictures to their facebook page. Clearly, Aveda Institute Jacksonville should rectify this.

I went to aveda because their products are supposed to be less harsh. Everyone is very nice there but my hair color is nothing like I wanted. Im a honey wheat blonde and they turned me into a brunette. The girl was nice and although I told her and everyone else there it was way darker than we discussed and how could we fix it THE TEACHER AND THE STUDENT NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR POLICY FOR FIXING THINGS THEY MESS UP AND I WAS TOLD I COULD COME BACK IN SIX WEEKS AND THEY WOULD DO HIGHLIGHTS TO FIX IT. Well when my husband found out they were going to charge me $47 to fix something they messed up he insisted I call and ask for some kind ofa discount and I was told even though I expressed my opinions at the time it was done that I was unhappy that I didnt make a big enough stink even though we made a highlight appointment to fix it on my way out the door. RIDICULOUS. I FOUND 3 VERY EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS WHO WILL FIX IT FOR LESS AND ONE WHO OFFERED TO DO FOR FREE BECAUSE OF HOW I WAS TREATED HERE. CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS HUGE COMPANY UNWILLING TO GIVE ME A DISCOUNT FOR SOMETHING THEY MESSED UP BUT AN INDIVIDUAL WORKING FOR HERSELF IS WILLING TO DO IT FOR FREE. ITS A SHAME.
