Took my 3 children to Miami Beach for spring break. Booked this hotel afater stumbling onto $89/night rate. Did not look awful online and was not expecting to spend much time in the room. Expected rest of the property to be fine. Got the opposite. Room was not bad--beds were very comfy cozy (only positive aspect of hotel). Bathroom was dark--when you close the shower curtain, even darker (no lighting in shower area). Got complimentary upgrade to oceanview (I asked), but rooms do not have balconies and windows do not open. NO VENTILATION! After a particularly smelly bathroom visit, the whole room stunk for 2 days. Due to our late arrival, we ordered pizza from a local restaurant and our room stunk from garlic the entire week we were there! Though $89/nite sounds, add on $25/day for parking (ridiculous!); if you dont get to the store downstairs for breakfast by 8:30am, youre out of luck since they sell out of everything. Only other breakfast option is $25/person buffet (insane)! The best food option is "Seabreeze" by the pool, but they only serve lunch (fortunately, that starts at 11:00am). Swimming pool FILTHY! Water was so cloudy you could not see your feet (one of my children developed a rash--have to guess it was from the pool). Tiles around inside perimeter of pool were dirty with green mold growing under the lip. When my children put their hands on the sides of the pool, they came away with dirty hands. "Fitness" center is unattended and no indication where to get a key to lockers. "Spa" is a joke: 2 women who dont speak English and are unable to give information about anything. Sign indicating cardio equipment is upstairs led me to use the outside stairs where someone (most likely a child) had defecated. The appearance of the pile suggested it had been there for some time. Hotel is beachfront but beach area is not maintained by hotel. Chaise lounges available to rent for $6 from surly attendant working the concession. Staff at hotel is divided: either they are out and out rude, or very nice. No one, except perhaps Leroy the parking attendant, and Derrick the bellman, were at all helpful. Hotel charges $12.50/day "resort fee" on top of rate (why dont they build that into the rate so I cant argue this point?) to cover cost of towels, beach toys (ha! a small bucket of $1 noodles and balls left behind by guests), fresh fruit (joke! only after I asked about the "fresh fruit" mentioned on the website, on ONE occasion, the pool attendant came around with a tray of single grapes--each picked off...that was their fresh fruit). This is a non-smoking hotel yet I smelled cigarette smoke daily in the halls. Bath towels reeked of cigarette smoke, so I called for fresh towels. Despite my advising there were four of us in the room, a staff member brought 3 towels and insisted that our towels could not smell of smoke--but he wouldnt smell them. Very rude!! The property manager, Eduardo, gave pleasant lip service but no help. Spend a little more money and get far better service staying at one of the known chains (Four Points by Sheraton offers comparable rates and far better service). There are some spectacular hotels in the area--Eden Roc, Fountainbleau, W, Ritz, Loews(!!!) with hefty price tags but you get what you pay for. That said, I walked away with a $900 bill for 5 nights at $89--included 2 lunches. Unconscionable. Many guests were from out of the country. I was embarrassed to think that this hotel is an example of American hospitality!

The Miami Beach Resort & Spa was a big disappointment in several ways. The hotel is very much in need of repair, updates and a more experienced cleaning staff. The beds are highly uncomfortable and the drawers in the closet are cheap wood drawers that jam together when opening and closing. The bathroom has no ventilation and the pocket door for the bathroom doesnt close all the way and leaves big gaps at the bottom and side of the door. The windows in the rooms are dirty and while I was there, the cleaning staff made the beds and left fresh towels but they left the used and dirty towels lying on the bathroom floor, failed to refill the toilet paper roll and left one of them empty and not one time dumped the trash so by the 4th day, it was overflowing. I was also very unimpressed with the staff at the front desk, the staff at customer service desk and the valet staff. During our stay, one of our members incidentally left a bag of clothing in an Uber vehicle. The driver of the Uber vehicle was contacted and the driver advised he would drop the property off at the hotel later that night. We notified the staff at the front desk, the valet staff and the customer service staff that the property would be dropped off and provided them with the room number for where the property belonged. For the next 2 days, we kept checking with the staff in each of those areas and they continuously told us they didnt have it. The staff in customer service was very rude and barely acknowledged my presence when I asked about the property. They just said "no" and walked away. After several calls to reach the Uber driver again, it was revealed the driver HAD dropped off the items to the valet staff THAT SAME NIGHT!!! Upon confronting the valet staff, they didnt go check. Instead, they directed us to their lost and found and sure enough they had it the ENTIRE TIME!! There was a lot of time spent on making phone calls that were not necessary if the staff would have just listened when we told them about it the same night and would have checked on it every time we asked. When you arrive, there is no one to help you drag your luggage up the several steps you have to climb to get to the front desk. The breakfast buffet is highly expensive and not worth it. In your room, you get coffee packets, creamer and sugar but you dont get a coffee pot unless you RENT it. REALLY???? Even the basic hotel gives you have a coffee pot in your room. There is no mini fridge or microwave either unless you RENT them. The drinks are also unreasonably expensive. When the vacation was booked 4 months prior to our arrival, it was advised there was a pool. However, we arrived, the pool had no water and was not open. When I think of a resort, this experience was not at all what I had imagined. The one nice thing about this resort was the beach was right there and you dont have to travel to get to the beach. Overall, when I decide again to vacation at a resort and spa, it wont be at the Miami Beach Resort.
