I write this review in total disbelief, and honestly, reluctantly. I believe that people are far more motivated to write negative reviews than positive, and that bothers me. So it requires an overt act to prompt a negative review from me. Im astonished, because of the many positive reviews of Olin. I am an Ybor resident, and I wanted to support a local business. After reading all of the positive reviews, I felt confident in choosing this contractor. I scheduled a 4 hour window (9-1) on Tuesday, 11/15, for today, Friday 11/18. I was told by Judy that I would receive a 30 minute heads up when the tech was en route. This morning at 9:50, Judy called to tell me that Mark was on the way. She called again at 10:05 and left me a message that Mark was on the way. I missed both calls, but I called her back at 10:20 (30 minutes after the first call) to confirm. She said it was too late, that her technician was at my door 45 minutes earlier and nobody answered. I told her that didnt make sense, because her last phone call was 15 minutes ago, telling me that the tech was on his way. I asked if he could just come back, since he couldnt be far, even if he was at my door 15 minutes ago (which he was not). She said no, she could reschedule me for next week. I told her that was confusing, since certainly they allotted time for my job. I had rearranged my day so that I would be available for this call. I asked her again if she could just ask the technician to return. She said no. I then asked if I could speak with the technician directly, or to the person in charge of the technicians. She said she would have the owner, Derek (sp?) call me back. I waited 45 minutes with no call, so I called the office again. Reached Sara, who said she would check to see if the message had been relayed to Derek. Sara came back to the line a few minutes later to tell me that Judy asked her to relay that she had spoken with Derek, and he said they were no longer interested in doing business with me. Wow!! I was not rude, I was not angry, I was just asking for help and clarification. An owner who is truly interested in customer satisfaction would at least return a phone call. Im very disappointed in Olins lack of professionalism, especially considering that their business is right around the corner from me. I am an advocate for Ybor businesses, but this one has failed. As a side note, if you read the positive reviews, most of them are specifically about a tech named Joe. My assumption is that Joe is a great plumber, but the rest of the company is not deserving. Ive scheduled with The Clean Plumber (Mauricio) in Tampa for Monday, and if they come through I will be posting positive reviews and promoting their business.

My first experience with Olin Plumbing was about 2 years ago when I had a problem and found them in Home Advisor. The guy who came out was quick, efficient, polite and a pleasure to talk to. Then, a month ago I needed a plumber again and called Olin again. This time another employee came out, a Kid, actually, he was prompt but not much of a people person. He quoted the cost of the work, I okd it, he did the work and left. After he had gone I noticed that he had spilled "toilet water" (he had to drain the toilet) on my carport and on my mat. I had to bleach the carport and throw away the mat. Later on I also noticed he had bumped the outside mirror of my car and caused the casing to fall off, which scratched it noticeably. I called the company to advise them of the inefficiency of the Kid who had worked on my plumbing. Judy, the office person took my information and said shed pass it on. I told her I didnt want anything but wanted to know the owner got my message. To this day Im waiting for someone from that company to call and acknowledge they had an unhappy customer. But wait, it gets better. Two weeks after my not-so-pleasant conversation with Judy my plumbing problem returned as though nothing had been done to address it in the first place. Olins work is guaranteed for a year so I called and advised Judy that while I had not heard a peep from the company about my complaint, I was having to call back because the problem, for which I paid a lot of money for, was still with me. She said she would have someone come out, I told her I would not let the previous Kid in and that she ought to send someone else out. At the appointed time and date Bob showed up, he read the work order from the Kid, did more plumber stuff and fixed my problem. I give Olin 4 stars on this review only because the original guy who came out (I believe was an Olin) made such a good impression on me that two years later I still remembered him. (I was told he had retired) Ive owned businesses myself and know that you cant always have A1 help. Im sorry that the present owner/manager didnt contact me to apologize for the shoddy mess the Kid did. They kind of make it up, though, by having Judy as their front person, shes a splendid person to first greet customers. So, because of Bob, who could not have been more personable and knowledgeable; Judy, who listened to me rant about the Kid; and possibly Mr. Olin himself, Im willing to give this company another chance to make up for sending me the Kid in the first place.

My family just purchased a home in the VM Ybor neighborhood and encountered a pretty bad plumbing problem. We contacted Olin after doing some research on local plumbing companies. Joe, one of their reps came out and assisted us. He seemed pleasant, diagnosed the problem, and began fixing it. After he left we were presented with numerous issues. First, we were not updated on status of the project. We had a huge hole in our front yard with no idea what was happening or when it was happening. We had to call for updates. Second, we were presented with an invoice which stated we had 30 days to pay. The work was completed end of day Tuesday 9/19. Yesterday, Wednesday the 20th, we received two calls from Olin demanding to collect payment. We missed the calls due to work and meetings. This morning, Thursday 9/21, Joe was standing at our property acting confrontational and using his demeanor to intimidate us for payment. He blocked our car in so we couldnt leave and started demanding to know why we hadnt paid, why we hadnt answered the two calls and demanded we provide payment immediately. The invoice isnt due until the 15th of October. We paid to get him to leave. I called and was connected with Judy who then connected me with a manager who apologized and offered nothing else. I am not a criminal, I pay my bills, so to be confronted by Joe this morning demanding money, blocking our car in, and attempting to intimidate is completely unprofessional and disgusting. I would have been inclined to leave a positive review had it not been for this. If youd like to feel like a criminal being chased by a bounty hunter for not paying a bill that isnt due for almost another month, use Orlin.
