I usually dont take the time to write reviews, but I feel that our experience with Kids R Kids Milton certainly warrants one. From the day we walked into the KRK Milton location, we fell in love with the cozy and invitational atmosphere introduced to us by Sara (Director of Family Services). Sara assured my wife and me that our son would be in good hands, and she was absolutely right! We had just moved from San Diego and were temporarily staying with a relative during the transition. However, knowing that we would eventually reside in the Alpharetta-Milton area, we loved the school so much that we decided that driving 89 miles one-way for an entire month was well worth the commute until our new home was ready. Not only could we rely on the staff to carry out a sound curriculum, but it was one of the few schools that we found who actually cared about providing a nutritional diet. With chef-prepared meals daily and an incredible teaching staff who truly cares about your child, we had found the perfect fit for our son. I could go on and on about success stories at this place, but one in particular stands out the most... and that is the enhanced development of our child. My son was so used to staying at home with his mother that he seemed to have lacked social skills. Furthermore, it was quite difficult to pry him away from his mother without him bursting into tears. But when he started attending KRK Milton at age 1, we immediately saw improvement. Our son not only became more sociable (arguably the life of the party), but his cognitive development exponentially increased as well. This could be seen by his knowing of the alphabet, counting, colors, and putting together of coherent sentences by the time he was 18 months old. Maybe he is just a smart kid, but I think that the staff at KRK Milton deserves some sort of attribute for his development as he spends over 75% of his day under their care. I especially want to point out Ms. Lulu for the relentless amount of patience she has had with our son through his potty training phase. I know that it can be a difficult time for all during this phase, but Ms Lulu truly takes her contribution seriously, and we cannot thank her enough. Moreover, this level of contribution clearly derives from leadership as both owners (husband and wife) are always willing to accommodate our needs. Both Peggy and Rich do an excellent job at showing you that your child is not just a number at KRK Milton. Your child is treated like family, because the organization is ran by a family... and thats the special touch that I have yet seen matched by other childcare facilities. Unfortunately, we recently had to relocate closer to our jobs, but it is this overall experience that has led to us orienting the location of our new home entirely around the availability of another Kids R Kids. Thats how much we love this school. Today my son began his new school at the KRK East Cobb (Johnson Ferry) location, and my do they have some big shoes to fill! If only we could have the best of both worlds and be able to take KRK Milton to East Cobb with us. If you are contemplating various childcare facilities and have narrowed it down to a few choices... let this be the testimony that drives your final decision, because you wont be disappointed with Kids R Kids Milton.

It is with heavy hearts that our family moves to the next stage of life from Kids R Kids Milton. My children just completed private pre-K at Kids R Kids Milton and will begin kindergarten next year. When we enrolled our now five-year-old-twins, it was after experiences with four previous schools. While a relocation precipitated one move, the other three were due to unmet high expectations for cleanliness, NAEYC certification, a strong curriculum, staff experience levels, low staff turnover, and a positive employee culture. Kids R Kids Milton fulfilled all of these, from our initial lengthy meeting with co-owner Peggy Kernan, through 2 years of pre-K and eight wonderful co-teachers, and the bittersweet moment we picked up our children for the last time. Ms. Angela and Ms. Linda set the tone of friendly helpfulness at the front desk and greet every child by name. This past year, Ms. Chantal helped my daughter learn to interact better with others through her firm but kind ways, while Mr. David gave my daughter the highlights of her week, Spanish lessons from a native speaker. Ms. Breana guided both my children through positive experiences with technology and Ms. Amanda helped my highly sensitive son begin a likely lifelong journey to control his emotions, helping him start to bloom academically and socially. In the mornings, Ms. Danielle served my children a peaceful breakfast. Chef Justin cooked healthful food that my children actually ate, providing consistency between home and school. Last year, our children learned so much from Ms. Diann, Ms. Zoe, Ms. Toni, and Miss Jessa. Mr. Porter helped my son adjust at naptime with his patient demeanor. We get curriculum notes and multiple photos of our children sent to our e-mail accounts each day, showing them learning and having fun. Care was evident from our first weeks there. Structure had steadily diminished at our previous school and our children had a difficult adjustment. To our surprise, Rich Kernan, the other co-owner, interacted with our children regularly in those first few weeks using positive reinforcement and we had a productive meeting with the curriculum director. (Unlike a nearby school we considered, both owners are on-site and a visible presence each day.) Since then, both our children have matured so much and are excited to attend school. In addition to regularly scheduled specials such as Spanish, introduction to sports, and musical instruction for the children, our whole family enjoyed fall and spring festivals with free activities for the whole family, giving us time to connect more with other families, staff, and of course, our own families. Our children immensely enjoyed field trips to see the Nutcracker at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center as well as the Cagle Family Farm. All of these experiences were included with tuition. While researching preschools in the past, I pored over DECAL Bright from the Start inspection reports while digesting reviews from Kudzu, Google, and anywhere else I could find them. One of the most important decisions in our lives often comes down to this patchwork and a gut feeling. It is my hope that my exceedingly long review gives you an idea of how your child may benefit from the environment at Kids R Kids Milton.

Short version: Enroll your kids in this center. The only thing you’ll regret is that you didn’t do it sooner. Longer version: I don’t like day cares. Never have. But from the first moment you walk into Kids R Kids Milton, you’ll realize this is no day care. Maybe it’s Sara, Michelle, Adina, and Rachael at the front desk—not only do they know all three of my girls’ by name, they know where they are, what they’re doing, and most importantly, how they’re doing. Maybe it’s the cafeteria, where owners Peggy and Rich actually hired a real, no-kidding chef. Justin is there to make sure every child gets a good breakfast and a happy start to the day (not to mention great lunches). Perhaps you’ve seen day cares where parents are stuck with the heartbreak of leaving a crying, upset child with everyone too busy to comfort. Danielle, Diann, Sarah, and Bernard work with the front desk staff to make sure that never happens. There’s no separation anxiety they can’t handle. Every child should start their day this way. Maybe it’s the pre-K program. My two oldest girls graduated pre-K this past week, and they’ve spent a happy year learning from one of the most professional instructional teams I’ve ever seen. Ashley and Patti, assisted by Melissa part time, developed and executed a curriculum I’d match quality-wise to any grade in any expensive private school you choose. At a beautiful graduation ceremony hosted by the three teachers, our daughters each received a binder packed full of beautiful memories from their year, custom-made for each student by Ashley. It’s indescribable—looking at it will bring tears to any parent’s eyes. Maybe it’s the Discoverers program my third daughter attends. She loves class and has made many friendships. Children learn from watching others, and from all the birthday parties and friendships in this class, it’s clear Cienna, Amanda, Sarah, and Mya are focused first on creating a safe, loving environment. Our daughter loves this class and her teachers, and she’s learning a lot! Maybe it’s the owners. I’ve never seen a center with lower staff turnover. Ever. This is important because the children have stability, but more importantly, I know the people taking care of my children like coming to work every day. Peggy and Rich know little details have big impacts, and they constantly remind us how much they rely on their great teachers and staff. They make sure their staff feels good about what they do, and no surprise, their staff in turn takes great care of my three daughters. Kids R Kids is not a day care. It’s not a place we have to send our kids because we both work. It’s a place for our three little girls to learn and grow in a safe, loving environment. It’s where our kids should be when we can’t be with them. And it’s where your kids should be too. Go take a tour.
