My daughter has danced at this studio for 5 years now. Because weve watched her grow from a little one scared of the stage to a dancer who loves her instructors, dance friends, and everything about an SDA recital, there is much that this studio does very well in comparison to other dance studios. Shes been a student at two other local dance studios, and I feel what separates SDA from the two others is quality-- quality dance instruction, quality choreography, and quality recital/Nutcracker production. SDA puts on fantastic recitals that feature themes such as pop music or Disney. Instructors uniquely choreograph their pieces to tells stories or feature fun characters or tug at your heart through beautiful, artistic numbers. The thought, artistry and humor that instructors pour into performances leave you sitting and enjoying the entire show, not just the number(s) your childs in. The dancers have a blast at recitals too. The emphasis is on having fun on stage, being confident and doing your best, but they dont place pressure on dancers to be perfect. Mistakes happen, dont beat yourself up, and the show goes on. Also, if youre familiar with dance competitions, you will see 7-year-old girls in skimpy costumes doing "hot" moves that may even be difficult to watch your 17-year-old daughter do. At SDA, performance pieces in recitals, community shows, and competitions are always age-appropriate. Little girls and boys look and perform as if they are little girls and boys. My daughter genuinely enjoys all of her dance classes. She gets a workout, but she always says how nice and how much fun and encouraging the instructors are. She loves dance above all other activities, so I credit this studio for positively nurturing her growth and passion as a dancer.

I would not recommend Studio Dance Academy to anyone looking at a dance studio. I have never been treated this poorly in a customer service situation than I have by the owners here. It seemed to me like they simply wanted to take my money and ignore any questions or concerns that I had. When I had a question about costumes, I was told to not contact them again unless it was a safety concern. While we are at it, lets talk about costumes...they ordered at least half of their costumes for the winter recital from DISCOUNT Dance Supply, while we paid her $50 for them. While it is customary to mark up costumes to account for the teachers time and shipping, these costumes were marked up by at least 100% and were of horrible quality. They also switched locations in the middle of the year, yet failed to give refunds for prepaid items (costumes that have not been ordered) to those who couldnt make it to the new location. Their new location has no waiting room for parents, as I think they view parents as an inconvenience. The rooms are tiny and separated by a curtain in some instances. Finally, my daughters tap dance was not finished and they had to finish choreographing it on stage at the tech rehearsal. Its unfortunate they chose to run their business and treat their customers this way.

Very rude. Rooms are small and separated by a curtain!? 10/10 do not recommend. Try out Dancefx right next to the classic center.
