I love training with Mwangi. He teaches about the history of the dance. Where it originates. History about Angola, the language, the culture. He also talks about the different music you will hear in the Kizomba community - the differences between authentic Kizomba and Zouk. I really enjoy learning about the origin of everything. I think this gives students a better appreciation for the dance. Regarding the dance, he focuses on the fundamental principles of the dance and mastering the basics. I have been dancing for years and the key to ALL dances regardless of style is mastering the basic moves. All great dancers spend a lot of time with basic movements. He teaches students how to be fluid in the dance...how to listen to the music and connect to it while using the basic steps to create a dance experience with your partner. In my personal opinion, I think this is how people should train to be able to dance with anyone all over the globe - from beginners to highly skilled instructors. Train with Mwangi and you should be able to dance with anyone at any level. For beginners and even experienced Kizomba dancers? His class is the one you should commit to. I highly recommend his class and will continue training with him.

I remember first meeting Mwangi as a side lesson for a zouk meetup, and Im happy to see how far he has come. Mwangi is a supportive and fun teacher, and his classes promote a sense of community and a desire to stay true to the roots of Kizomba, both in movement and music. Ive been taking lessons with him for over a year, and Im still learning new things about the dance. Plus, with the new Wednesday classes and two social events per week, there is a lot of time to practice with others. So glad to be part of this community, and I highly recommend you check it out. Thanks Mwangi and the rest of the Kizombies out there. You know who you are. :D

Kizomba Atlanta Dance School is a great place to learn Kizomba and make new friends. Mwangis energy and passion for Kizomba is contagious! In fact this passion has been passed down to his students. When you enter the dance studio you are greeted with smiles and feel an immediate sense of welcome. It doesnt matter if are a beginner or advanced, you will find yourself calling this place home like I have. Mwangis style of teaching ensures that Kizomberos of all levels are provided with a solid Kizomba foundation and continue to build upon it - because of this I am a better dancer and one of the last people left on the dance floor.

By far the single best Kizomba classes I have been to in Atlanta! They cover and reinforce the basics of the dance and are true to the historic components. Instead of spending time on memorizing routines and flashy combinations, they make sure all students are fluent in the fundaments of this style. As a result, I have been able to dance with and follow almost anyone that I have encounterd in the Kizomba scene in Atlanta! Dont be fooled by imitators! Learn Kizomba as it was created and is danced in Angola!

If you are looking for a school that will teach you the authentic Kizomba dance this is the place to be. The classes are fun and energetic and the instructor, Mwangi is consistent in his teaching style. Im always ready to come to class and expect to warm up with side to side while enjoying real Kizomba music from Angola. Kizomba Atlanta Dance is not just a school, its a family, one that make lots of memories and grow in dance together.

I have learned so much coming to class consistently! Its such a great vibe you receive when you come to Mwangis class, like a family. He starts with the fundamentals, which is of major importance, so the intimidation factor is lessen. He doesnt throw you into the wolves with big tricks in the beginning. Foundation is key and his drive. Im definitely coming back for more!
