I give the Brunswick Job Corps Center a 1 star review simply because I cannot give it 0 stars. This facility is run by a group of corrupt, ignorant racists. I am a Caucasian/Native American and the staff is predominantly black, but thats not even the point... They have a "0 tolerance" policy on weapons , drugs and fighting. I put this in quotes because its crap. The staff plays favorites with students and time and time again I witnessed people getting caught with homemade weapons and getting in fights but being given multiple warning before being thrown out(if they were even sent home) while other kids were being bullied and then made to look like they caused problems by the staff. The bullying was not just student on student, it was sometimes it was staff on student as well. The recruiting people at the Department of Labor will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to go to any Job Corps facility, I made friends who were transfers from other facilities and they informed me that all locations are about the same. This review does not apply to all of the staff though, I was in an "outside trade" ran by the Home Builders Institute. The instructors for the hard trades were more relaxed and friendly towards the students(provided you arent lazy) The food was also terrible, they are supplied by the same company that supplies food to the jails and prisons in our nation and serve the same horrible tasting breakfast every morning, grits thatre like rubber, eggs that taste like cardboard and burned sausage. The staff will also ride you about being on time and acting "professional" but a lot of the staff is constantly late or absent and at the meetings held every Monday and Wednesday they blast ghetto rap and everyone dances around and gets loud and crazy for about the first 15-20 minutes..this is not just the students, but the staff as well! Although my time there was boring, long and misersble..the skills I learned helped me land a solid, well paying job within a month and 1/2 of being home. If youre thinking about going to any Job Corps Center I strongly advise you to make sure it is your absolute last opportunity and would recommend the Tampa, Florida location as my old roommate from Brunswick is there now and tells me its totally different and a lot nicer and more laid back.

Brunswick wasnt bad once I got use to it. it takes time when your in that type of environment, but after that the staff were helpful towards me u got your bad seeds and trouble makers but for the most part it was decent. met some really good people truth be told I never thought I would make friends but I was wrong! just stay focus and hang with people u have alot in common with and yall see on the same page and u should be fine. u get paid every two weeks btw so save your money if your new u have to go through 5 weeks of cpp, then once that complete you go to the trade u want or if you didnt tabe out u have to take academics u can also get your G. E. D or Highschool Diploma as well, but u have to be strong minded because its some people that will definitely test u.

I never attend this center, but my son is in there now. Hes only been for about a month and his phone has already been stolen, and they did nothing about it. They did not even try to discipline the other attendant that stole it, they just avoided and ignored my son. As of now, I sent my son a card so he can load money on it and I can transfer him money; its been a whole week and he has not received his mail. Im fed up already!!!
