This place is the worst of the worst. Terrible ownership/management.. that trickles down the the employees and overall standards/procedures. We went through 6 teacher changes in the infant room in under a year. They would hire someone who clearly wasnt a good fit, get parent complaints, move the teacher, hire another.. over and over and over again. Constant miscommunications, lost items, not following state mandated regulations, diaper rashes, my daughter wasnt eating, was hospitalized with RSV, and best of all.. terrible teacher attitudes. If you question them, they turn on you. I had the co director pull me into her office one evening to tell me that the director had informed a teacher than I didnt "like her" and she wanted to know if that was true... Such a joke. I cant tell you how many times I had to say "I JUST WANT MY KIDS TAKEN CARE OF!" I had a teacher tell me days after it happened that my baby wasnt fed for like 6 hours strait because the other infant teacher just didnt feed her. It turned into a huge he said she said fiasco that again turned into "I JUST WANT MY KIDS TAKEN CARE OF." The director, Samantha, told me that the teacher was lying to me. Blatantly. "She was lying to you." And this woman kept her job, was just moved to the next class up. The newest addition to the infant room is a smoker- which, hey- more power to you, but my baby came home smelling like a bar every day and wouldnt take a bottle very well from her. Maybe dont smoke on your breaks at work at the DAYCARE. The last day they were there a teacher told me that they would take my baby outside if she wanted to because it was at her digression. "Those are the rules," she stated, although it was FAR too cold and windy outside for a baby. She advised that if I had a problem with it, I take it to the director. So I asked for my final invoice and got the heck out of there. Honestly, I should have removed my kids long before I did. I have them at Little Acres now and I could not be happier. Night and day. Little acres is nothing fancy but the teachers in the infant room have been there for like 13 years! Sometimes they think of stuff I havent even thought of. After the first DAY I told my husband, "this is what child care is supposed to feel like." Every day I left my kids at Akers I would agonize over what I was going to walk in and need to deal with. I feel like it honestly just a matter of not having good people work for you. The after school program is terrible, too. In order to get the kids to be quiet they play a game called "dead bodies" (check my facts, go for it..), where the kids have to lay on the floor, silent.. Im not even kidding. They dont do homework help or anything like that, and the teachers just scream at the kids because they are out numbered 30:1. The whole place is a crap shoot. Its dirty, poorly ran, and youll feel like you need to train the staff yourself. Unfortunately, theyre not trainable. There are a couple of good ones! Shout out to Michele. She was awesome.. Other than her, and a chick that left recently.. I have zero good things to say. And I tried to think of some. I promise.

This place is going downhill and quickly becoming a nightmare. My oldest son had been there since he was 18 months old. Things were going so well I enrolled my infant last June. It has pretty much been awful ever since. There have been around 7 teachers that have cycled through the infant room (one teacher even left a baby outside, but wasnt fired, just moved), the current infant teacher is great, but the management/ownership of this center is the biggest problem. My oldest was in the 4 year old room where the teachers were great during the day, but when it came to the afternoon it was a disaster. On multiple occasions I walked into the classroom and the teacher(s) would be on their cellphones, not paying attention to kids. If the kids were outside teachers would converse at the fence and at one point I picked up my son and he was climbing the fence and teachers didnt notice, because they dont pay attention to the kids. This past week when I went to pick up my older son, one day I found a child in a classroom by himself while the teacher and rest of the class was outside, the second day I was able to go onto the playground and pick up my child without his teacher ever knowing he had left because she was talking to another teacher with her back turned to the children, then on the day I decided my children would no longer attend the center it was because I was given a vague (I was told the "side playground") of where my sons class was and it took me three times of walking around the center to find his class. I told the director that I felt that was unacceptable to which she and the owner disagreed and told me "its not our fault you misunderstood". Ridiculous. These kids have been fed undercooked/cold/frozen food at times because the staff is so lacking that they do not have enough people to cover classrooms and cook lunch. Ridiculous. The teachers constantly were complaining that they hated working with kids, or that they didnt want to work there any longer. All of my complaints to the director, Samantha, seemed to be totally disregarded and pushed aside. There are a lot of great teachers at Akers, but the ownership/management makes it hard for the teachers to properly do their jobs. Stay clear of this joke of a center. PS... Id be willing to put money on the fact that these 5 star reviews are fake.

Akers Academy in Cumming has been a blessing for our family. We have 3 young children that currently attend Akers. Our youngest is in the infant room, and he is so loved and very well cared for. Cathy, Nalah, and Sharyn all love him as their own and celebrate every milestone he makes. He is always taken care of, plus they go above and beyond and are constantly teaching the babies and doing art with them! Although there has been some turnover in some of the classes lately, Akers is diligently working to hire the right people to take care of our little ones. Jennifer in the two year old class is amazing - very loving and patient with a class full of two year olds! My two year old loves going to school - he is constantly learning, playing, and making arts and crafts! My four year old just completed the GA Pre-K program and Alaina is hands down one of the best teachers Ive ever met! She and Leslie are great, and they taught the pre-k class so much, plus they had so much fun! My four year old is excited about summer camp, and he cant wait to experience all of the fun activities and field trips that are planned! Leslie, Don, and Darlene have outdone themselves in planning fun summer and aftercare activities! The owner, Frank, is easily accessible and present at the school often - very nice guy with a huge heart. We are excited to see Marnie take the responsibilities of director - it is evident she loves the school and the families that attend there. My boys love attending Akers, and I know they are in great hands every day when I drop them off!
