My mother used this company several times and found it to be really expensive. The plumbers always arrive to do the work on time but then they tell you that they need to go to buy a part and disapear for more than 30-60 minutes. I called them when i moved to my new house to do a plumbing job. I was giving an estimate to do the work for $475, however after signing the contract Ed (another person from the company) came to do the work and said that it would cost more. He wanted another few hundred dollars more. After an argument he decided to honor the quote offered in the signed contract. He left and disapered for more than 1 hr with the excuse of going to buy the part needed for the job. He then came back and finished the job in less than 2 hrs. I ended paying that day $675 after he did also a change of small pipe and also a replacement of a leaking faucet. None of the two jobs took him more than 20-25 minutes. A months later I phoned Mattex again to install a toilet. I had already spoken with another plumber who came to do another small job and I was told the job would cost me about $82-85 since it wouldnt take more than 1hr. Unfortunately I needed to wait for another week before he could come back to do the job. I decided to consult with Mattex and they told me that they would come in the next day for an hourly rate of $90. I phoned the next day to arrange an apt for someone in Mattex to do the installation. This time I was told their hourly rate was $95. When I questioned the discrepancy in the rate promised the day before I was told they would do the job for the $90. Ed showed up to do the installation at 2PM. He got home and left right away stating he needed to buy a part to install the toilet. According to my mother the plumber always leaves during a clients service to probably do a 2nd job that he left on hold when he came to my home. He probably told the other person he was going to buy a part needed for his job. By doind this the plumber is getting paid by me for waiting when he is "buying the part" when in fact he is doing the job of another client and is getting also paid. I was told by someone who works for a plumbing company that this is a very common unethical practice used by most of these companies. After Ed disapered at 2PM and I was left waiting for 30 min I phoned the company and asked to cancel the apt. I said I did not want to pay for this waiting time. The owner stated that he would talk to Ed and I wouldnt pay for the errant. However when Ed showed up and I mentioned it to him he got upset and got the calculator and told me that he needed to charge me $118 for the job and that would be it. He started the job at 2:40 and ended at exactly 3:31. He went to the car and sat there for 15 more minutes. He came back at 3:47 and said that i would be charge for 2 hrs of work. My mother was there and inquired about the reason for the 2hr charge when there was not more than 1hr. We were told the errant wouldnt be charged and Ed got back from the "errant" after 2:30 and ended installing the toilet at 3:31. He said that as soon as he got to the door of a client he has to add 15 additional minutes for his travel time and after he finishes the work other 15 additional minutes will be charged for the paperwork. The conclussion here is Mattex hourly rate (according to Ed) it is not $95 as stated by the company. The $95 are for only 1/2 hr of service.

I initially contacted Home Advisor Pro in search of an HVAC contractor to install a heat pump in my home. I had several responses, but the one that caught my attention was from Rich Brantley from Mattex. Between that response and a recommendation of Mattex from a neighbor I trust, I asked Mattex to make a proposal. Rich contacted me, immediately for a walk through and had a proposal to me within a day or so. Although this was in the middle of winter and I assumed I would need to wait until spring to install the new system, Mattex offered me a very attractive cost incentive to install the new system in the off season, plus, Rich took care of getting me a sizable incentive from Ameren. I asked about financing and Rich and I arranged that online, at my kitchen table. The Mattex crew was right on time on a very cold day in January, 2016. They removed the existing system (furnace, air handler, evaporator, and condenser/compressor unit) and had a new Trane unit installed and running in less than 7 hours, including a hour for a company lunch. At 3PM, we were well on our way to being warmed by our new system. Two days later, we noticed some unexpected operation of the new system and two techs from Mattex came out immediately. They updated the programming of the system and thermostat and added some additional refrigerant. Considering how cold it was at the installation time, we werent surprised. Once that initial tweak was done, the system operation has been excellent. We did purchase the 10 year warranty package that covers parts and labor, which means that if anything goes wrong, we just call Mattex and it costs us nothing. We just had Mattex back for a new reason: Our outdoor faucet sings...very loudly...and it has a very irritating voice. Ed identified the problem, ordered the parts and we expect it to be fixed next week. Mattex folks (like Sam) are very nice on the phone as well as the people in the field. The only thing that would be better is if they were free! Ill settle for excellent work, good attitude, and reasonable cost. They do the work properly and promptly.

Our experience with mattex began on August 25th when we woke up to a very warm and uncomfortable house. We called 6 other local companies that all said it would be between 3hrs and 4days until they could help us. We have 2 large furry dogs that cant handle heat so we were in need of help fast. Thats when we found mattex. The man that answered the phone was very understanding and caring. He immediately realized our issue was urgent and made us a top priority. He called us back a few minutes later to tell us there was a non priority call before us so he was putting it on hold and would have his guys there as soon as possible. About 20 minutes after our first call to mattex Chris and Seth(Chriss trainee) were at our door. they introduced themselves and were very professional, informative, and friendly. They asked us some basic questions about the issue and where everything was located and said they would be right back. They checked everything out and came back with the diagnosis and multiple solutions giving us the opportunity to save on parts and labor. Our issue was a simple fix and they knocked it out after making sure we understood what was going on and how much it would cost and got our go ahead. They also informed us of other issues we could face with our system in the future due to its age and things they noticed while fixing it. The system is over 25yrs old. we were really surprised when they didnt try to pressure us into buying a whole new unit like many seem to do. Instead they let us know when the time comes they can help us out and offered a free estimate and left it at that. Chris, Seth, and the mattex crew did an amazing job for us. We completely expected to have to take off work and make arrangements for our dogs but mattex saved the day and we were only about an hour late to work. We will definitely be calling mattex for any future needs and recommend everyone else to do the same thing! P.s our dogs liked the guys(which is important to us) and are just as thankful for mattex as we are. Thanks again guys
