I am writing this rating on line because I see some other ratings regarding House of Branch Funeral Home and its owner Ms. Shelia Reid. I really hate to see when people use the Internet as a form of cyber bullying and venting. It is not justifiable at all. Sometimes we as a people can be our own worst enemy. I have nothing to gain for writing my comment because I do not know the owner Ms. Shelia Reid or her son. I had only met them a couple of weeks ago and both the mother and the son were very nice and kind to me and very professional. It is my hope that when people do their research regarding funeral home services in the Lawndale Community that they don’t believe everything they read on the internet because some of it may not be truthful in fact, sometimes when a client is disgruntle, they sometimes go about and give bad misrepresentation. On Friday March 15, 2015 I went to Branch Funeral Home located at 3125-27 West Roosevelt in Chicago’s North Lawndale community and I met with the owner Ms. Shelia Reid and her son. The two of them were so very nice to me and it was as if I had known them all of my life. As I was waiting in the office with the owner Ms. Shelia Reid, another customer came in to view her love one’s body and was several hours early than what the policy is to view the body. Ms. Shelia Reid accommodated the customer who had driven all the way across town to have funeral services for her love one. The customer was so elated and started reminiscing about how she knew the original owner, Mr. Branch and how he was such a pillar in the community and how she was happy to know that the legacy has passed on to Ms. Shelia Reid successfully. All in all, the customer was very pleased with how her love one looked and how she looked just as if she was asleep and how she looked just like herself when she was alive. So my final conclusion is that Ms. Shelia Reid and her son are very professional and every day that I went back to the funeral home, Ms. Shelia Reid had a staff indoors and outdoors attending to the grounds and vehicle and lobby. Everyone was very professional even the guy that was shoveling the snow. Sometimes when we as entrepreneurs hire within an urban community such as a North Lawndale, we sometimes hire elements that derive in our communities. However, this is not the case with Branch Funeral Home. Ms. Reid does have an urban staff in an urban community and it is not her fault that her business is in an urban community that has been written off. Ms. Reid desires to take that entire block and transform it into a hospitality community to enhance Branch Funeral Home. She is at this very moment and point and time trying to get the resources she needs to develop that area. I say that instead of throwing stones at her, support her because Shelia Reid is a phenomenal business woman who is a master at her trade and have been serving the North Lawndale community in the same location since 1990. That speaks volume to how she is committed to her people.
