I had stopped in to inquire about stylists and pricing and in general check the place out because I was looking for a new stylist. I walked in and was greeted by a young woman and told her what I was looking for. She passed me off onto another woman, I repeated everything again and her first response was "Well, everything is online". At that, I wish I would have said thank you and left. My first thought when she said this was (do I have to pull up their website to get pricing? Is she not going to tell me when Im standing right in front of her?) I didnt say anything, but my face must have shown something because she quickly tried to correct herself and gave me pricing and recommended a stylist that she thought would be a good match for me. She recommended getting a consultation only and then after meeting Arianna, could make an appointment for a haircut. I made the appt for later that afternoon. I met my stylist, told her what I would like, showed her a picture and she seemed like she understood. She seemed confident. I asked her if she had time to cut it then, and she said yes, that I had been down for a haircut all along not just a consultation. I was confused by this but let it go. She cuts my hair and Im not saying anything but to me the shape of the style is not looking like the picture I showed her. She held the mirror up for me to see the back and sides, and I told her that. So she cut more and then asked "is this what you mean?". I referred to the picture saying that the shape still didnt look quite right. We went through this a few times. She kept cutting more and at this point, Im thinking to give up, because I was at the point of thinking Im going to have to go somewhere else to get this right and if she cut anymore off someone else might not have enough hair to work with. I learned during this time that the woman at the station next to us who was doing someone elses hair, and who was also the woman I talked to earlier in the day, was in fact the owner of the salon. At this point, the owners customer leaves and she has heard the exchange between Arianna and I, and starts in on me with a condescending tone saying things like "youve been going to someone else for a long time right? You have to give another stylist a chance to get used to them, and every stylist cuts hair different." This kind of commentary went on for a few minutes. She didnt even bother to look at the picture I had shown. Just kept saying how nice my hair looked. Somewhere through the course of this Arianna said after I had initially explained that I wanted a wash and wear kind of style with minimal blow drying and fuss, she now tells me after cutting my hair three times that the picture I showed her has alot of styling and that my hair wont do that without alot of styling. Great. This is something I should have been told before she ever cut my hair. I basically feel that she told me yes when the reality was no. Between that and the owners comments, I was done and wanted out of there as fast as I could get before I lost my cool. The owner then said, "let me see the picture". Really? You think there is a chance in hell at this point that Im going to do that when I want to run screaming from the place? I said no, thats ok. She insisted. I said no stronger, got up and went to the counter to pay. They dont have a chip reader for credit cards so they are sliding it and the machine is having trouble reading it. At this point the owner asks me if I live in the area? This seemed disjointed to be making small talk at this point and I was left with the impression that she was wondering if I was using a fraudulent card. It finally went through and I left. There was another stylist there named Iryna, and there is another review here with that name that looks just like her and then another one with the same last name? So the employees are reviewing their own place of work which is discouraged and looked at as conflict of interest. Tips are cash only, they didnt get one and I wonder how many of their good reviews are fake.

I have been searching for the right stylist for the 5 years I have been living in Crystal Lake...well I finally found my forever stylist in Kristine, shes not only a stylist but instantly feels like a friend from day one in the chair. My hair looks amazing thanks to Kristine and stays looking amazing due to the great Aveda products. You will be so happy youve walked into Avanti and will love the hand massage during your shampoo.

I have referred many friends to Kristine and all have been happy and become regular clients. I have had the best cuts, colors and overall experience with Kristine and would not go anywhere else.

I love this place! I have been seeing Christine for over two years and my hair has never looked better. She is amazing at what she does. My husband and children have also started going there and they love it too. The entire staff is so friendly and professional. I cant say enough good things about the entire salon!

Went in for a trim and got a horrible nightmare pixie cut. The sides were completely uneven and the back was like a crew cut that I didnt wanted. I had shown her a picture and it was NOTHING like it. The owner/ manager was a very rude and threating. Beware if you go there!!!! We will be seeing her in court.

I love this salon! I have been getting my hair colored and cut with Kristine, the owner, for over 6 years and she is amazing! She also cuts my 11 year old sons hair. The staff here is so professional and friendly. Plus you can never go wrong with Aveda products. I highly recommend this salon to everyone!!

Great and friendly staff. The stylist Cara always does a perfect job cutting my hair! Place is great for mens cuts and not just the ladies. Get a great scalp rub while getting shampooed then a hand massage at the end. Its worth the few extra dollars!! Never will go anywhere else!

When I first noticed hair loss, it was a challenge to find professional who can make your haircut look sharp despite having bald spots on my had. Iryna does excellent job every time, so shes my only trusted hairstylist. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

My stylist Kristin K was amazing!!! She transformed my boring bronze blonde into a beautiful golden head of highlights. I couldnt have been happier with the outcome and the cut was also done very well! I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair again besides her!
