On the way to work my partner texted me that an error kicked up on the thermostat indicating there was a problem with our A/C. I asked her to try the standard quick fix solution to most electronic issues, a reboot of the system. No luck. I contacted Mendel Plumbing and Heating. Mendels did the furnace and A/C installation for us a little over 7 years ago using a high efficiency Bryant system. They did a great job on the installation and have provided excellent service since then with bi-yearly inspections and the installation of a water softener. I called Mendels at around 10:00 am and spoke to Melanie. I told her about the issue with the A/C and I was surprised when she told me they could have a technician stop by that evening between 5:00 and 8:00 pm. Melanie asked what cell phone I would like to be alerted by text to let me know when then technician was on their way. I was ready to go in less then 5 minutes. I arrived home around 5:30. By 5:35 I received a text that Ken from Mendels was on his way. They sent me a picture of Ken, so I knew who to expect at our door, along with information on how long Ken has been working for Mendels. They also included a link to track the location of Kens truck. One of the many great things about Mendels is they employ their own technicians. Many times the same technicians come to the house, so you know them by name. Ken arrived about 10 minutes after the text was sent. As is Mendel technician practice, Ken introduced himself and put paper booties on his shoes before entering the house. He took a quick look at the thermostat to check the error codes, went outside to look at the A/C compressor, determined it was an issue with the capacitor, went back to his truck for the part and had it fixed inside of 10 minutes. The best part is the A/C unit is still under warranty and there was no charge for the service. When I decided to have my furnace and A/C replaced I got three bids. Some of my neighbors indicated that Mendels had great service, but was expensive. They were right about the service, but wrong about the price, as they came in with the lowest bid. I like using local businesses for services whenever I can as I feel being part of the community they sort of have skin in the game and depend on having a good reputation. In the 5 years I have been using Mendel Plumbing and Heating I feel I could not have made a better choice.

My husband is a GREAT guy, not exactly a great plumber. We are remolding our kitchen and to save money bought a Copper sink and faucet over the internet. It is beautiful and just what I wanted, we saved about $1800+ compared to Kohler, Moen or the other high price models. Seeing it you really could not tell the difference, that being said some of the fittings were a bit off. My husband worked all day+ trying to get the sink set up so that I could use our kitchen sink vs the utility sink plus have use of the dish washer without LEAKS,,,,Well that didnt happen!!!!! He worked so hard, not a single swear word after being under that cabinet all day, hes not a small person either, like I said a great guy. I suggested he call a plumber, he liked that idea, he made that call late Sunday afternoon, after I left the house. Chuck set an appt. with Mendel, they came the next day, which was a Monday, Mike T was our technician and he did a nice job, I would recommend him to anyone needing a plumber. He came on time, was respectful, covered his shoes, answered all our questions, the only thing I didnt like was that it was very expensive, but we did save money on the fixtures. My husband is glad to have our kitchen sink and faucets attached and working with NO LEAKS and I no longer have to look at his back side smiling at me. Im very pleased, thats important>>>>> THANKS GUYS.

I recently had Mike S and Jeff H at my home, one for annual service on the air conditioner and the other to replace the garbage disposal. Both men were prompt, courteous, very knowledgeable, answered my questions, were respectful of my time and pleasant. Mike and Jeff identified themselves, confirmed what they were there to do, and were prepared with the necessary parts and paperwork. They wore shoe coverings, were neat and clean, and cleaned up their work area. I always call Mendel to handle all heating/cooling/plumbing/electrical and remodeling needs because I am comfortable having them in my home. All members of the Mendel team are professional. I trust them to provide me with the information I need to make any decisions and know they will assist me with decisions that will work best for me. They work within my schedule and always call when they are on their way. Thank you Mike, Jeff and the entire Mendel team. You simplify my life!!!

Mendal may be good at what they do but they prey on the ignorant and elderly. My parents (in their late 70s) was given an estimate of $1800.00 to repair a slow running faucet. This seemed obsurd to me and I took apart the faucet myself and found some sealing putty in the line to the faucet itself. IIt was cleaned out and the faucet runs fine. My parents also used Mendel to install their new furnace. Mendal convinced them that the needed to have the system serviced every year and signed them up to a service contract. The price of this contract was ridiculous. It was above the price of a normal annual service visit and the term was for 5 years. My parents and myself are now aware of the scare tatics Mendel will use on the elderly to maximize the money they will get from a service visit. Please get estimates from several HVAC/Plumbing service provideres before chosing Mendel.

About 4 years ago Mendel replaced a sump pump and the associated pvc pipe in my house that they had installed 5 years before. Today the pump failed, and when I pulled it out to inspect, I saw the bottom of the pump was virtually disintegrated. I pulled up the specs for the pump online, and read the installation instructions. The pump was supposed to be set on bricks to avoid sucking up sand and debris. They installed the pump directly on the bottom of the hole. The directions also called for a 1/8" hole to be drilled in the pipe above the water line but below the check valve. The hole was drilled about 1" from where the pvc pile attaches to the pump. I paid $491 for a $130 pump, 3 feet of 1.5" pvc, and a new check valve, and they couldnt even install it correctly. I would choose a different plumber.

The work was done within a reasonable time frame with little to know concerns or issues. Eric was very direct and professional in his explanation of the work to be addressed and took time to make sure any mess created was addressed before leaving my house. Eric showed concern for my personal property and made sure he took whatever needed to make the repair and replacement in my attic and roof successfully and without incident. With Mendel I can always count on them to fully understand the task at hand and perform all work needed with professional knowledge required to address the job at hand. I would highly recommend this company especially if you want the job to be completed by professionals who truly care about you the customer.
