Job was sewer line repair under a major street in Champaign. The estimate was "close to" $10k. The project manager offered to be flexible in working out payment. About a month after the projected was completed, we received an invoice for over $12k. I contacted the project manager who told me we could pay the bill off over six to twelve months; all we needed to do was send regular payments and they would credit our account. Since we did not have any sort of written agreement, I wrote out a payment schedule for the next twelve months and mailed it to A & R along with the first payment. Then, about a week later I received a call from an account manager at A & R saying that they did not accept our agreement. According to her, the project manager was not authorized to make any sort of payment deal with us. She informed us that the only way A & R accepts payment over time is in five monthly payments, and they charge 18% per annum interest compounded monthly. In addition to abrogating their verbal agreement, they did not tell us that their "flexibility" in payment involved $500 in interest charges. I do not know if this is a typical experience with A & R, but it is what they did to us. Buyer beware.

Serivice Department is unwilling to provide replacement part information for work they did in the past that has gone defective. I just want the documentation I feel is owed to me based on the original job...on which an entire 5000 ft house had its boiler/radiators retrofitted with modern thermostatic controls. The lady in the service department was not at all helpful.

It is great. I know because my father works as a construction worker there. The people are nice and helpful. All you people giving negative reviews are wrong.
