I am going to be blunt in this review. I would not recommend this place for minorities or people who just graduated from school. Unless you are fine with warehouse and assembly positions, which you can also find at local temp agencies, I would not recommend this place for more befitting and meaningful positions. I graduated from CLC with my Associates in Business Administration and is currently an online BBA student at UIS. I have administrative and leading experience from the various jobs And internship I have done from my teenage years up til then. In July, I went to the place in Waukegan and applied with hopes of finding a position that better suits me than the assembly positions I was working at the time. I also had the pleasure of speaking with one of the representatives (Nancy). I liked her and she was very pleasant but she came off to me as a bigot as she was expressing her opinion of the Black Lives Matter movement and responded with sarcasm as I was expressing to her my life goals and pursuits that she asked about. She was seemingly interested in me and assured me that I was in good hands as shes been there for over 30 years and their center works with thousands of companies. I wasnt sure if she was being sarcastic or not. Now that it has been a month and a half, she has only called me about three times. Oh yeah, thats very impressive for someone who has been doing this for over 30 years. She offered me a food service position that paid less than the job I had at the time, a two-day assembly position, and a two-week only computer installation project. Very professional. Yet it is a professional employment agency. Since then, I havent heard from her. Every time I call, when I know she is there, she sends it to voicemail and whenever she answered, she said she was busy handling other people. So now I just gave up and stop calling. Even Manpower is offering me more opportunities than she was and now I am currently applying for their offered positions. Simply put, do not waste your time with this company.

Speaking as a previous applicant I can only say positive things about my experience while working with Matthews. The staff listens to what you’re not only are seeking for employment or career but, they will also listen to what you are needing. Matthews truly takes the time to get to know you on a personal level, and won’t hesitate to help you find the career you are seeking. With me personal they not only did those things but the helped open my eyes to what I can do with my career. They then continued to help me start to achieve my goal. I would recommend this staffing agency to anyone that I know.

I went to Matthews for an interview. I left my resume and list of references. I was told by Paul that I interviewed well and that my chances for employment might increase should I become familiar with Excel. I took the Excel course and a Word refresher course. I E-Mailed Paul to let him know I had taken the courses and asking what I might to do next to increase my chances of landing a job. He never responded to my E-Mail. I sent him 4 more E-Mails over the course of a couple of months and still no response. Matthews has been a waste of my time.

Ive never worked with a personnel agency before, where they waste your time calling employers, but only while you are sitting next to them. Plus, from the get-go, she let me know that she was the boss, and that I was to do everything she told me to. Nice. On top of that, the person with whom I was working with (Lexi), had absolutely no idea about the field I was seeking work in, I.T., and then just stopped setting up appointments when she failed to find any interviews. What a waste of time.

You can find very professional consultants at Matthews. Everyone I have referred there has been able to find a job and stop temping. If you are serious about working and making a career Matthews can help you.
