Ive never actually written a review for anything in my life and am only doing this as a means of getting information to other people that this company will attempt to rip you off and then ruin your vehicle. I had my Jeep towed to this shop after reading a few reviews for what I thought to be either a broken thermostat or clogged radiator, my car was generating excess pressure in the lower radiator hose. Yes, this could be a blown head gasket issue, but I checked the oil in my car beforehand and there was no coolant in the oil whatsoever so I was optimistic that it wasnt the case. Bill called me to notify that he had performed a chemical test and that it was a blown head gasket and it would cost 1145 to fix, before machining the head (that could cost another 500 for all he knew, and I quote). I decided to do some research and asked around at some other shops and became aware that this price was too high, so I called Bill back and asked for a price break down so I could understand what I was paying for, Bill then proceeded to ramble off excess things, and managed to make up enough stuff to end at 1005$.... not 1145. So when I asked how the price had changed he got very defensive and yelled at me that if I wanted to do it I could. I said ok, and asked for some time to figure out my options and Bill hung up on me. After finding somewhere else to take it I called in and asked to pay my diagnostic fee and to have my car released, no big deal, I found another deal. I paid my 39.95 diagnostic fee and had my car towed. When I met up with the tow truck driver at the next shop he informed me that Bill had driven my car out, with a blown head gasket, and my jeep had large mud marks up the side as if he had put it in 4 wheel drive and driven it in mud. At the next shop they informed that my issue was actually just a seal in my radiator, a fix that had half of the initial cost, up to 1/3 of the final cost Bill was estimating, and that my head gasket was completely fine. This man is a crook, and I warn anyone who considers taking their vehicle here to avoid this nightmare I went through.

My car was making a noise so I asked if they could drive it to see what was wrong. I also was asking a question related to my car not starting. He asked me if my check engine light was on and I said yes. When I went to pick up my car they ran a diagnostic test and charged me $80 which I had no idea they were doing which was unfair but I paid. I was given what I thought was an estimate to repair a wheel bearing and ball joint. I made the appointment and when I went to pick up my car it was $250 higher than my estimate. When I questioned it, I was told that my estimate was for only one part of the job. I feel like I was totally taken advantage of because Im a young girl who clearly doesnt know much about cars. I compared this to a bill from repairing the wheel bearing at another shop and McGuires price was more than double. Very disappointed and upset that this cost me so much more money than what I was led to believe.

Look for Extra Charges!! Took vehicle in for some routine work (oil change, have brakes looked at, couple other things.) They called back with an estimate, and I approved changing oil and working on brakes - nothing else. Due to their odd hours, had to pay bill over phone without reviewing it. I reviewed bill when I got home after picking up vehicle, and to my surprise, they had charged me $25 to change a license plate bulb! $25!! I did not ask them to replace it, nor did they did even tell me it was out! I questioned them on it the next day, they apologized, and gave me $10 back saying it was a mistake. It still cost me $15 dollars to have a $2 bulb replaced that I could have done myself. My truck needed more work, but now I do not trust them. I took my truck to a shop in Brownsburg. Their estimate was $250 less than McGuires for the same work.

This statement is all thats needed before you bring your car anywhere else. Bill McGuire (owner) once told me that he decided to start his own auto repair business because he wanted to give his customers an honest approach to handling automobiles. He had seen just how dishonest auto repair guys could be and wanted to change that. I drive miles out of my way to give Bill my business. He truly cares about his customers. Lets face it, honesty and auto repair are never linked together. We all know it. Bill McGuire is the only one I have stumbled across who gives customers both. Thanks!

I recently had my car towed into McGuires after my idiot kid ran over a curb at 30 mph popping 2 tires and the passenger front tire jammed into the wheelwell. Only talking to them on the phone they quoted 2 prices. One at $450 and the other at $800+. They fixed it in one day for the cheaper price and did a terrific job. I would recommend this shop over any corporate shop. Great family business. Thank you McGuires, youre the place for me from now on. Mike

I picked this shop from the other review on google, and Im very happy with the work done. Its very clean and the mechanics are competent. They had several older customers who looked to have been loyal for many years. This is a very professionally run little business. I highly recommend if youre in the west side and need any auto work done that you give them a call first. Im 100% sure youll be treated just as well as I was.

Ive used McGuires for both my personal and work vehicles. Great communication with customers. Bill cares about his customers, and is open and honest about what the problems are, and the best solutions. His prices are very fair, and the work is top notch. They have earned my business because of the personal and truthful approach to service.

We found McGuire through Angies List and have been extremely pleased with the honest and reliable service it provides. My brother is an honest mechanic with his own small business, and McGuire operates on the same basis. We will continue to take our cars to this business.
