Missed deadlines, lackluster quality, poor customer service I have been a customer of FastSigns for at least 6 or 7 years now. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed and I will never be back. I generally try to keep my business local as opposed to just submitting it to an online company, mostly because I appreciate being able to go in and talk to a person face-to-face. Maybe I’m just old fashioned I guess. As of late, it is becoming more and more frustrating to talk to any of the FastSigns staff other than Ben. He seems to be the only one who has any sense of customer focus and service. When Laurie was still there, I had zero issues – now is a very different story. With Laurie, work was always quoted promptly and my orders were always accurate. I felt that my business actually meant something to them. I guess I was wrong. Last fall, I placed a fairly large order with FastSigns and it very quickly became a train wreck. Not only was it almost impossible to get a quote and proofs in a timely manner, but I was given excuse after excuse for each missed delivery deadline. When I finally got the call from Sheila to come pick up my order (the day of my event no less), I found that my order was only partially complete. So, not only did they completely squander the quote, proofing and order portion of the project, they also put me in a major bind for my event. I was offered a half-hearted apology from Sheila and she quickly told me that she would be happy to have the rest of my order in a couple of days – unfortunately, that was too late for me. I really hoped that this experience was just a fluke but I know now that I should have ran and found an alternate source for my signage and promotional needs. A few weeks ago, I thought I’d give FastSigns another shot and I submitted a very small order online (15 days in advance of when I needed the printed materials). I must have drawn the short straw again because I got stuck with Sheila. As was almost expected, I had to call her for the status of my quote, call her for the status of my proofs and then call her for the status of my order (two days before my event date). Sheila advised that my order was “mistakenly lost” by one of their vendors that they use for outsourcing thus they were not going to be able to meet my deadline afterall. She called back a bit later and advised that she had attempted to find a work around by having another local company do the work but when I went in to pick up my order, the product looked like it had been printed by an uncalibrated inkjet printer in someone’s basement. The colors were unbelievably incorrect and several of the pieces were cut incorrectly. Sheila tried to convince me that printers are “just different” sometimes and that I should expect some variation in color when compared to the proof she had given me. Some variation would have been fine – but this was terrible, even to my eyes. I guess I should have learned my lesson the first time and simply taken my business elsewhere – my mistake. I figured that I would just go my separate way with FastSigns and I didn’t even plan on writing this review until the owner of FastSigns called me today (14 days after the last missed deadline) to find out what went wrong. I calmly explained that the colors were embarrassingly off on the final product and that they were cut incorrectly. I even asked him to look at the proof that they had provided me. He said that he hadn’t seen the proof but, more importantly, “now he was going to be stuck paying for this”. He quickly ended our call by saying he “wasn’t going to argue with me anymore”. I’m sorry, Steve – would you pay for a product that looks like crap? Maybe, if you have to outsource a product, you should find a vendor that is reliable and can complete a project on time and with some level of quality. I have a feeling if FastSigns doesn’t improve their customer service and pay a little closer attention to detail that they won’t be in business for much longer.

I had 2 different things I wanted done, first was a decal of my name on the door of my Tow Truck, I did everything online, which in my profession its almost a norm, with a few emails back and forth 3 days later it was ready to be installed, they matched the color choice perfectly and did an outstanding job, the second job I had was a pvc sign with reflective lettering, again 3 days later they called me and my sign was done and ready to be picked up. Before this I had seen a proof picture of it, in person in hand I was very pleased and impressed with it and the price was perfect, outstanding quality and exactly what I wanted, I will be taking all my business back to this company, all the staff were extremely nice and knew who I was when I walked in the door. Their staff is super friendly, and always seems to know exactly what I want. I have tried other companies in the past, but Fastsigns in Clive really are the go to Team! Amazing design skills and outstanding customer service! FASTSIGNS attention to detail and professional design skills are absolutely 100% the best way to go. Ive done 2 rollup banners (6-7 foot), a table runner, then another tabletop sign just recently. I couldnt have designed these this professionally on my own. The work FASTSIGNS did has definitely added value to my companys brand image. I will continue to use them in the future!
