Came on a suggestion from a friend that said his repair bill went from 500 at another location to $80 when it was more accurately diagnosed at Accurate Automotive. I called when my 96 ford explorer started leaking coolant and I had a 100+ mile trip in 3 days. He said he was super busy and wouldnt be able to handle it that day....I asked about anywhere reputable I should go to....he said, "well, come on down...Ill diagnose it for you and give you a quote on what I charge....you can leave it here and if I can do it in time, I will. Or you can take it anywhoere and at least know what a fair price range is to compare with" He educated me on the problem (bad water pump), gave me a replacement cost for him to do it that was almost half of the quote when I went right around the corner. Finally, after hearing him state that it was a quick job and not too hard on my type of vehicle....i asked how hard it was to do myself....he said it was a realistic repair to do on my vehicle on my own if I was feeling confident and could folllow Youtube directions really closely. He printed out the tools I would need to rent to get to the water pump, educated me for a good 15 minutes on the process, and even offered to lend me a clutch fan removal tool if autozone didnt have it. The guy gave me a huge chunk of his time and didnt ask for a penny. I fixed my water pump for 70 bucks after coolant, parts, and supplies and 2hrs of work (i was slow and careful as i did stuff). Im a customer for the rest of my time in IC for sure. Accurate automotive is awesome...saved me several hundred already!

As a female myself, I have to say that I found a very reliable and friendly place to take my car. As the owner of a 2000 Lexus RX300, and the love I have for my car, you can bet that I only take my car to a trusted source, that is Accurate Automotive. Brad and Jason have always given me fair prices and have only told of me items that need repair, which is not the same kind of treatment I have had in the past. About a year ago, I was told by a very trusting local car dealership that I needed a rebuilt engine which was going to cost me over $4,000....WOW! I was devastated! I took my Lexi to AA for a second opinion and the boys gave me better news than I had originally received. They found out what I needed (and no more than that) and fixed my car for about half of what I thought I was going to have to pay. AA is very easy to work with; I can get in and out and I usually only need to call ahead a few days for an appointment. They even pick me up and drop me off at work which is a huge deal to me as I work at the UIHC. Thanks Brad and Jason for taking such good care of me and Lexi. Its nice to know that as "a woman" I can trust AA to give me a fair deal and top notch service!!!!!

I moved to Iowa City only four months ago, and had a very negative experience at an auto shop just down the street from Accurate a week after arriving. Accordingly, I put off having some routine maintenence performed for quite some time. After a long-term resident suggested Accurate, I took the plunge -- and could not be happier with their work. The guys at accurate took care to examine each issue I described, and even advised me NOT to replace my timing belt, a procedure that would have landed them an easy $500 or more. Rather than capitalizing on my minimal car knowledge to make a quick buck, Accurate was honest, service-oriented, and did a great job on the work they did perform. Their prices are reasonable, the environment friendly, and the overall experience was fantastic. If you, like me, are living in Iowa City with limited means (grad. students, anyone?), youre likely to be frugal and very hesitant to spend several hundred dollars on anything. However, Accurate Auto is one place that will get my business every time, and I strongly suggest they get yours too.

Simply put, the best shop around! The crew at Accurate has always been incredibly professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I have brought in both of my SUVs and motorcycle countless times and they always accurately diagnose the issues and provide me with full descriptions of what they have found and what they think should be done. They have worked on everything from rebuilding my entire 4x4 system to installing a lift kit to AC rerouting to engine work to regular maintenance, and in every situation I have been very pleased with the results and the custom service along the way, not to mention the very reasonable pricing! I have recommended everyone I know and even people I overhear talking about car issues to Accurate Auto and everyone that has reported back to me has also been very pleased. I can confidently say that dont believe you will have a more pleasant, honest experience anywhere else. I will continue to go to Accurate with any auto question or problem and I recommend that anyone reading this do the same. Thanks for reading!

I was looking for an automotive shop in Cedar Rapids but found the best in Iowa City. Accurate Automotive is a poster child for how to run a reliable automotive repair shop. I trusted them to the point where I requested their service to buy me cars and a motor cycle. I bought the following cars through them: 2008 Impala, 2003 Mini Cooper, 2003 Honda Shadow and 2008 335i BMW. They assisted me through the buying process and explained what exactly should be taken care of and what can wait till the next maintenance appointment. They taught me the importance of preventative maintenance and how you could avoid further damage to the cars. I have moved from Iowa but I trust them enough to recommend a locally run BMW and Mini repair shop. I miss Accurates service and the feeling of content when I leave the shop knowing that the I paid for only the necessary work that was done on the car or motor cycle. I wish they could some how franchise their service concept. This is a reliable, customer service and quality oriented automotive shop.

Until I recently moved to Austin, TX, I had been going to Accurate Automotive for years. I think everyone will agree a good, trustworthy mechanic is like gold. Accurate Automotive is upfront with their costs, which I think are reasonable. There is signage throughout that explains some of the additional costs that we as customers typically do not think of. I really appreciate how they will detail any issues that your vehicle may have and also take the time to explain what is crucial and what can wait until a later date. They will even tell you approximately when that later date may be. They understand that vehicle maintenance is expensive and try to work with you to come up with the best plan to keep your car working well within your budget. The guys are friendly and knowledgeable and Ive never felt like they were taking advantage of me, even when I was a single girl with little car knowledge. I miss this place! They need to open a shop in Austin!
