I took my car in for a recall repair. I was asked if I needed anything looked at. I said I would like to know how much it was to fix the air conditioning, but only a quote. I wasnt paying for anything. I signed nothing. I agreed to nothing. I asked my wife to pick up the car because I was out of town. I told her there was no charge. She did not want to go, because she said service treat women differently. I convinced her to go and her fears were confirmed. She was given an inspection for the whole car - which listed repairs like brakes, tensioner, belts, air conditioning, and a bill. I did not sign a service agreement or agree in anyway to pay for anything. If Toyota of Iowa City wants my business this was the wrong way to do so. She felt intimidated and paid a bill she should not have paid, even if it was only $50. Toyota of Iowa City only confirmed to my wife and daughter that women are treated differently. She told me this is why she wont pick up cars from service. Shes right, I wouldnt have paid. I would have simply pointed out I did not agree to any payment or work done. I had already thought the compressor switch was out of the air conditioning compressor, so I learned nothing new. I just wanted repair costs. I was not willing to pay for someone to check out my car.

I had purchased a car from these folks before and was looking forward to doing business with them again, however, when I went in to look at new cars and had a few questions about why their monthly payments werent working out to the same amount as the numbers I got from my bank, I was first dismissed by the salesman without really any further discussion. He kind of shrugged and told me the person at the bank had made a mistake and Id have to talk to her. After I talked to the bank again, I went back in and asked them to fax their figures so they could see where the discrepancy was. I wasnt combative; I really wanted to buy a Prius. The salesman then went to the business manager, who called me into his office, talked to me like I was a six year old, then called the bank associate I was working with and didnt treat her very well either. He explained the mistake (which was a mistake, but didnt deserve the level of ridicule portioned out) and then told me the bank would preapprove me for the higher loan. I said that was too high for me. He stood up and told me thanks for stopping in. End of transaction. I thought they were selling cars. The arrogance and dismissiveness were very disappointing. We bought a Honda.

Ive recently switched to having my car serviced at Toyota of Iowa City and took it in for its second visit yesterday. My maintenance light was on in my 2010 Camry, I assumed this meant it was time for an oil change. - I was about 1,000 miles over the sticker on my window. Brought it in last minute, and they squeezed me in. I told them I needed an oil change, but everything else should be fine. Aaron told me that actually, my Camry is good on an oil change for 10,000 miles not 5,000 like I thought. So, I dont need one after all. My maintenance light was on because its time for a tire rotation and fluid check! I thought it was AWESOME that Aaron told me what my vehicle really needed, and told me what it didnt even though it would have been VERY easy for him to say yep, oil change, tire rotation, fluid check. Ive been taking it to other local service spots for about a year now typically between 3,000 and 5,000 miles and every single place has changed the oil, no questions asked. I will always take to to Toyota of Iowa City now, and ask for Aaron when I can :) Thanks for taking good care of my car!

We bought our new first car from Troy at Toyota of Iowa City in 1997. We didnt have a lot of money then and buying a new car was a big deal for us as it is for most people. We had such a great experience that we have bought 2 more cars over the years from Troy and Toyota IC (It would be more, but hey, theyre Toyotas and they last a long time!). Weve always been treated very well there and I really cant imagine buying a car anywhere else. My father worked as an auto mechanic, so I know a little bit about car dealerships. Unfortunately, the experience of buying a car isnt always a pleasant one. I have appreciated the fair, non-high pressure treatment that weve always received there. The service dept. has always been respectful and helpful and Ive never had anything but positive experiences with them either. I look forward to our next new car purchase from Toyota of Iowa City!

I leased a truck from Toyota of Iowa City and could not have had a better experiance. The salesman I had was awesome and met all my needs. He didnt try and sell me something more expensive or treat me like an idiot. He listened to what I what I wanted and recommended something a little less expensive but with more options that would better suit me. I worked with him for a couple days and when I went to get the truck I wanted it was sold. He had already found me another one and got it to their dealership asap. I am more than satisified with my truck and will be a repeat customer. I think more dealers should be like this. He could have tried to sell me something for more money but I would not have been a repeat customer. So he made the dealership a lot more money by listening to me. If you go there ask for Russ. Great guy and will work with you to get you what you need!

I have only used Toyota of Iowa City for maintenance. However, I would rate my experience with this department as superior. When I first moved to the area and began going here for scheduled maintenance, I was shocked that each visit only cost about $70. When I lived in a larger city, it seemed like every time I went to the dealer for scheduled maintenance, they always found some strange belt or esoteric part of replace, costing at least $200 a visit. In my experience, the maintenance department at Toyota of Iowa City does not upsell you for the sake of extortion. Their staff consult you before any larger repair and clearly explain the rationale behind it. The lounge is comfortable and service is speedy. Just make sure to book scheduled maintenance proactively. When you call, the earliest appointment is usually two weeks in the future.

Just got (leased) a 2012 Toyota Corolla during the Summer Clearance Event for my friend. Dealt with Dave. I would not recommend this guy as your sales for he will not give you what he promised. Ive had great experiences with Toyota and referred several friends to this dealership. I know there is a referral program (they advertise everywhere in their store) that one could get $200 for a new customer referred. I mentioned this program, and Dave confirmed like 5 times that I could get the check, before and after the purchase of the new car. The check never comes. These days two of my friends asked my preference in buying a new car. I know what I am going to do. I will tell them to find one of the guys who can keep their promises: Brenda from Toyota Iowa City, Mike from Billion Honda, and Vince from Carousel Volkswagen. Thank you, Dave!
