I have never had such a nightmare of an experience at a hair salon prior to my visit at Twin Image. I had just moved here from Los Angeles, and I chose Twin Image based on its awards from Salon Magazine and local news channels. Supposedly its the best salon in Eastern Iowa, but based on my experience there, I cannot fathom why. I went in with my previous color formula from my old Aveda salon in southern California, so I thought it would be a painless transition. Boy, was I ever wrong. My hairstylists name was Jackie, and she started off by sloppily putting color on my head. It got all over my face, and then somehow color was flung into my eye. My eye stung and it was very painful, and Jackie responded by handing me a towel--but the towel had color on it, so it only got more color all over me. She didnt take me to a sink or anything to try to help me get it out, and only got me a cup of water. As if this wasnt bad enough, she argued with me about how my old hairstylist did my color and tried to convince me that her way would be better. When it came time to style my hair, it only got worse. I told her that I prefer not to have my hair straightened with a flat-iron, but with a blow dryer instead, and that I dont like to have a lot of product weighing down my hair. Apparently she didnt like that, so she just finished my hair by doing absolutely nothing to it besides finger-combing it with a blowdryer and spraying hair spray all over it. My hair looked awful, so I asked her if she could re-blow dry it with a brush, and she said that normally that would be extra (seriously?) but that it was fine for now. This kind of language normally indicates that she wouldnt charge me extra for this, but she did anyway. I was charged $25.00 extra for my hair to look like a birds nest. She did try to take some of the many color spots off my face, but she rubbed my face so roughly with a washcloth I felt pain afterwards. I paid roughly $125.00 for this terrible experience. Obviously, I asked her for my hair formula back, and she said color got on it and wrote me up another one. I dont trust it, so Im having my old hairstylist mail me another one. Luckily, the manager has since offered to refund me part of my money, so I definitely appreciate that. Bottom line: I will never go back to this salon. Im sure the salon has better stylists, but I wouldnt recommend Jackie to anyone.

Great service when you get a wax. Sierra was super nice, really knew what she was doing, even offered to touch up a few areas I hadnt requested (yay!). The one downside is that the wax itself seemed a bit cheap--instead of pulling out the leg hairs, it left broken, short hairs all over (and trust me, it wasnt that I had short hairs--I hadnt shaved for MONTHS.) Moral of the story? Go there for a bikini wax, which has thicker hairs the wax can grab on to and maybe somewhere else for your legs.

Absolutely wonderful! I had a true hair emergency. My natural red hair had strips of power ranger red, gray, brown and funky pretend-a-blond. Photos for a wedding just a week away. The wonderful women worked me in knowing what was wrong and why it was so important to be corrected ASAP. Lydia Hanh...and a couple other ladies came to my rescue. Four bowls of four different colors and two hours later... my hair was a very natural looking Auburn!

I dont like to give poor reviews but, this was the worst and not to mention the most expensive hair cut Ive ever gotten. Ive gotten better $10 haircuts. It might have just been the lady doing my hair, as she was unhappy to be there, and was older. Im 22 and she gave me a hair cut intended for a 50 year old. I would never go back. For the close to $70 I spent, I expected much, much more.

Color- I had a similar experience as Kewal- I transitioned from an Aveda salon and not only did they not match my color she put in awful highlights that looked like a tiger. The price was outrageous for the level of service. Does anybody recommend a place in town for color???? help

I had such a great pedicure and shellack this morning with Jill! This is such an extraordinary full service salon. I also get amazing hair cut/styling with Kelsey. Great job, Twin Image Salon and Spa. Top Notch.

Great service, solid prices - like their little store. Large space - and its fun that they have a car salon too. Would prefer lower prices.. but thats just me. I dont know much about this stuff.
