Sweet Basil offers a wonderful Italian-American experience. I think the best way to classify this restaurant would be an Olive Garden but with class and a delicious menu. My partner and I sat down for a dinner of basic salad and pasta. Our starter salads (one Greek and the other Caesar) were above average quality and they give their table bread a wonderful garlic toasting. She had the linguine del mar and I had the linguine with lemon and clam. Both dishes were excellent. There were copious amounts of scallops, shrimp and veggies in my partners dish, which had the standard alfredo sauce and flavor. My lemon and clam pasta had a unique tangy flavor that had me enjoying every bite. Pasta is usually quite basic and predictable from my experience. It was a pleasure trying a dish that had a surprisingly different flavor. The layout of the dining area is laid out in one open area. Its simple and could probably be a bit chaotic when the place is filled up. Our service was friendly and on point. They need to update their menu online. The webpages I found prior to going were outdated. They also offer a buffet for lunch which Id like to try. I know the next time Im hungry for pasta, Ill be headed back to Basils.

First, I love Italian food. Second, this is as Italian as Taco Bell is Mexican. That said, I went to the lunch buffet very excited and I am disappointed by the offering. The main course buffet is a 4 foot steam table with 10 items: Garlic Toast, Rice Pilaf, Steamed Mixed Vegetables, Meat Lasagna, Teriyaki Chicken, Fried Chicken Wings, Butter/Garlic Linguine, Potato-Meatball and Bell Peppers in Red Sauce, Fettuccine and Alfredo sauce. The do have a 6 foot cold buffet and a 2 foot desert buffet with two items: Brownies and something else I cant name which might be remotely Italian-like. While the food was all prepared properly I would only call the Alfredo and Linguine Italian. The meatballs tasted like frozen Swedish meatballs from any grocery store. The garlic toast was toasted and garlicy, but uninspired and my mom has made better; Ive made better. Heck, Ive bought better in the frozen isle! This is too bad. I was really hoping for a great place. I will say the staff was very professional and restaurant was clean, so that gets them one star.

It was a nice change from the typical Italian chain food. Sort of a quaint romantic atmosphere rather than the typical "make me feel like Im in Italy" atmosphere you get at the chain places. The whole experience reminds me of Angelos before it went under in Wichita a few years back. I had the chicken fettucini alfredo and my wife had the vegetable fettuccine alfredo. The chicken was dry and chewy, but the fettuccine and alfredo sauce were good. My wife liked her dish with no complaints. The salad was basic and the bread appeared to be toasted ciabatta buttered with parmesan/garlic sprinkle. They do have a rather wide wine selection. The service was excellent. Overall, its a decent restaurant, but nothing too amazing. I think I will try one of their lasagnas next time as it looked really good and seemed to be the popular dish. The important part is that there will likely be a next time.

I went to Sweet Basil with my husband tonight hoping to find out own little "place" that we could go whenever we wanted inexpensive and good food. We definitely found it! The food was fantastic (I had the chicken marsala and my husband had the prime rib), the service was great (our waiter was Kevin), and the atmosphere was very serene and romantic. Absolutely everything we were hoping for. The salads that came with our dinners featured homemade croutons that basically exploded in your mouth with just the right amount of seasoning, and homemade dressing (at least the raspberry vinaigrette and thousand island were). I am recommending this fine restaurant to everyone I know who loves Italian (which is EVERYONE I know) and will be returning there myself many many more times.

We were really excited to go here because of the good reputation and this was nothing short of a disappointment! We came here a few days before the fire, if youre curious of the time period. The food was as far away from authentic Italian cuisine as Olive Garden; the food was not fresh and barely reheated. The food was frozen on the inside and there were even ice crystals on it. Why did I pay so much for something I could buy from Schwanns? The servers knew nothing of wine and suggested terrible matches for dishes. They clearly know nothing of pairing and the wine list was short and not interesting whatsoever. The atmosphere was heavy, outdated, non-matching, and generally tacky. Items on the table were even dusty! I cringe to see what the kitchen looks like.

This was my first time going to Sweet Basil since they reopened after the fire and it was terrible! Now, there is no privacy whatsoever and it was way too small and cramped! I couldnt even enjoy myself. On top of being uncomfortable, the food was horrible. Most of the food tasted like it had come straight from the freezer section, the corn obviously came straight out of a can, and the mac and cheese was straight from the kraft box. In past times, the food ALWAYS tasted better. After the fire, they went all the way down. I would rather just pay the extra dollar or two (literally) and go to Carrabas! Sweet Basils "new" cramped "restaurant" has definitely lost me as a customer.

Great lunch buffet at terrific price, cant get food like this anywhere else, they keep the small buffet hot and fresh, regularly have fresh salad and fruit, garlic bread, steamed veggies, rice, teriyaki chicken(its soooo good), fried chicken wings (the breading is light and crispy and its fish on fridays), lasagna(very good), pesto pasta and usually an alfredo (love the Alfredo sauce on the pesto pasta) and a dessert bar with brownies and cheesecake. You cant beat this place! And to top it off great customer service! The Sunday brunch has breakfast and several other options as well!

This is a very good restaurant. The quality is here and the menu is versitile. You know you will get a good meal here. Not great one night and poor the next like some. As far as brunch, the food is good, fresh and flavorful. I am sure they put what people want to eat on the buffet line. More families with children on buffet days. In addition to chicken and etc. there is great Italian food and salads. It is a romantic, friendly place and you are always treated with respect. Cathy

Really disappointed in the Sunday brunch, it had mostly fried chicken, mashed potatoes, pretty bad lasagna. It was really mediocre & I couldnt tell this was an Italian place from the food. It wasnt particularly awful tasting, it was just all really bland & kind of tasted the same. But if you want to eat a lot of bland friend chicken and mashed taters, this would be the place. If youre expecting something different, dont bother.

The food was horrible, sitting up under the heating light, it became rubbery & burnt with a bad taste. The salad bar was ok, not much of a variety of vegetables to choose from. The staff was inattentive & rude. The table was a tad dirty, the floor was filthy Bathroom a mess!!!!!! I was invited out to lunch & that was the worst LUNCH EXPERIENCE TO DATE....
