We feel very fortunate to have found Home Childcare Today. We moved to the area from out-of-state and needed to find a new daycare for our son, Austin. At the time, our son was in a small traditional daycare. We were having problems finding a new daycare as many of the ones we visited in the area were large and/or impersonal. My husband noticed the difference upon his initial visit to Home Childcare Today. The person who greets in the morning is the person who will be there when you pick up your child. This stability makes a big difference to a child since there are no “shift changes.” When you pick up your child, you get a complete picture of your child’s entire day and not just the last few hours. Our daughter, Samantha, started to attend Home Childcare Today as an infant shortly after our son. In a traditional daycare, children are usually separated into different age groups and do not interact with each other. In a home care setting, all the children are cared for together. Children will do age appropriate activities but they will not be completely segregated. This has allowed our daughter and son to develop a close bond. It has also helped them socially to interact with children at different levels. Sophy, Ai Ping, and their staffs really care about the needs and development of the children they look after. In addition to the daily updates, they make time for parent conferences. This is a time to address any concerns you might have and to create or update a plan for your child’s development. This means that we can reinforce what they are learning at daycare and vice versa. Austin, who is three years old, already knows the alphabet and loves being read to. He can also count past 10 and has started simple addition. We expressed our interest in him learning Chinese and he is now starting to use Chinese words at home. Derya

This past month (June 2014) had the opportunity to observe HCT in Acton. As a teacher and a mother, I was horrified. The children were not treated with respect and witnessed one care provider on a number of occasions being very short and physical with a number of children. One child was lifted out of booster seats by one arm, one child who complained that his pull up was wet and she would not change it and one child was told repeatedly in a stern voice "No crying" while pointing her finger in his face. There was no compassion shown at all to the children. The center is very unsanitary. Dishes used for breakfast were not washed before they were used again for lunch. The table and booster seat trays are not washed down before or after meals. No gloves are used in helping children in the bathroom and the "potty chairs" are rinsed in the same sink that the children wash there hands in after using the bathroom. Meals are served by the center. All the meals I witnessed were nutritionally poor and the serving size are not enough for growing children. One meal consisted of white rice, frozen pizza pieces and one apple and one cucumber sliced to be shared by 8 children. The baby was fed by propping up the bottle with a towel while the child was seated in the highchair. Please, please, please look for child care elsewhere.

My son went to Home Childcare Today for three years. We talked to the friends and visited at least ten day care centers in the area and finally decided on Home Childcare Today. I cant say enough about the wonderful experience there. They were very caring, paying attention to every single detail. My son was not an easy child. He had stranger and separation anxiety and a picky eater too. He is impatient and wants everything now. The provider worked with him on overcoming his fears, improving his patience and helped him learn to play with other kids. I never need to worry about that he might not eat enough. There was so much food, from breakfast, snack to lunch. All is provided and covered. Daily sheet lists everything he ate from milk to actual food. The food changes daily so child will not get bored. I have visited other centers that offer lunch. There is no one close to the good choices of the food offered here. The place is clean and organized. We wanted to make sure my son went to a place that is safe and clean so he stayed healthy. It totally lived up to our expectations. If you are looking for a small home atmosphere that you child gets individual attention but not too small that your child can play with other kids, this is the place.

This place is amazing. I like the warm home atmosphere. The children there grow and learn while they are having fun.
