This is for all of you - gentlemen, guys, dudes, buddies, men, whatever, even women. This was an amazing experience. The place was recommended by couple of friends, the barber was getting reviews - too good to be true. So one day I decided to check the place and barber out. I am a realist in life and do not believe everything I hear or read, I have to see it myself, process it myself - decide it for myself. But this ended up to be almost better than advertised... The salon is nice, the service is very good, but the barber is beyond description. The professionalism, backed up by years and years of experience, the attitude, the old world school, the way he expresses himself with his thick Russian accent, the jokes, the wisdom, the ease that he puts you in, when he holds the blade in his hand, the precise cut that you get, the softness and the amazing feeling of your face when he is done shaving, the whole experience is amazing to say the least. Second to none! So many words out of me for 1 hour (almost) experience is not usual, but I felt I had to pay the respect to the true professional, that really deserves it. The name of the Master - the Barber is Val. Check him out.

I go here regularly and get a decent, consistent haircut, but $34 is a LOT to pay for a basic haircut. They try to appeal to an upscale clientele with a manufactured old style barber motif, nice selection of magazines and "free" drinks - soda, water, coffee (although the economic downturn seems to have caused them to scale this back a bit as they used to offer beer). I dont have many complaints about the haircut, but for a basic haircut I could go to a regular barber shop and do without the post haircut vibrating massage for half the money. If not for the price, I would give it 4.5 stars. Im still searching for a haircut as good or better at a reasonable price without the unnecessary frills.

I was in desperate need of a hair cut and beard trim when I went to Tweed Barbers. I looked extremely unkempt (my own doing) and it was a lot to deal with. I setup an appointment easily the day before and didnt have to wait more than 10 minutes after arriving at the shop. The guy who cut my hair and trimmed my beard was Joe. He was a very nice guy, respectful, and highly meticulous. The whole process took quite a while, but it was well worth it. This place is also much more expensive than Im used to. However, the end result was worth every penny. The shop also plays some good EDM (nothing crazy, but enjoyable) and has an overall nice vibe. I highly recommend it!

I first moved to Boston, and my gf at the time recommended it; luckily, my remaining hairs were in the hands of the Master himself, Tom. Ever since, I have sojourned to the South End every month-six weeks for Tom to take care of me. Great haircut, remembers your style (and your life), takes meticulous time with you, and it comes out looking fantastic every time (clearly dependent on what you started with). Super nice guy, lots of fun every time Im in there, and can squeeze you in if youre persistent. Most importantly, he never disappoints, and thats why youre going there.

I have hair-trust issues, so it takes some work for me to try someone new once Ive found someone I like. My regular guy moved to New York, and I was forced to go searching. A gift certificate took me warily to State Street, and I have not been disappointed. Ive had three separate people cut my hair there, and every one has done an excellent job. The price is fair considering the quality of work and services you get - the shoulder massage device alone is worth the price of admission. Tonsorial bliss - Im off there right now!

I got a shave yesterday from Josh at this location. Josh was incredibly professional, polite, and gentle, and the combination of closeness and comfort of the shave puts it in the top 10%. It was one of the best barbershop shaves Ive ever had, and Ive been getting them regularly for 42 years. I dont think Ive had a barber who was this good when he was still this young ever before. This was more expensive than Im used to back home in Nebraska, but for an occasional indulgence its well worth it.

First time going to this place for a haircut. Just an embarrassing haircut. I was waitlisted for a cut at this place, which I was ok with. A guy named Ali came recommended. I filled a canceled appointment for Ahmed. Ive gotten better cuts at Great Clips. I paid what I expected to pay, for a city barber, but I got some ridiculous suburban hack job. This distracted, no talent buffoon, shaved my sideburns off. Ill try again with a different barber, but I will not be sitting for Ahmed again.

Ive been going to State Street since shortly after it opened, first because it was convenient to my office, but now because I think its a great cut and a great atmosphere (Substantially better on both points than my old haunts). It doesnt hurt that its in a fun neighborhood to walk around as well. All of the barbers have been great. I have my personal favorite, but like a few of the other reviewers I am happy to take whoever is available, as Ive never had a bad cut there.

This place is fantastic. I work at a local hotel and whenever a gentleman asks me for a place to have his hair trimmed, State Street is the only place I recommend. I moved to Boston about a year ago and have gone about a dozen times and each time is great. The people are friendly and they know how to cut hair. At first I was a little taken back by the price but when you can leave feeling good about the way you look, it is defiantly worth it. Give Ben a try.

I have never been able to find a haircut that suited me before. When I moved to Boston I just happened to find this place and try it once and it was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. The place is classy with excellent service (they even take your coat). The barbers are respectful and are concerned only about your satisfaction and a high quality haircut. When I walked out, I had the best haircut I have ever had, no joke. I recommend Ali.

This place is great. My barber, Stone, is awesome. They are very thorough and give you a great cut and shave or, if you are like me, a beard trim. Very friendly staff but be aware that they are busy and book ahead of time after your cut n shave so you can go with your favorite barber. Also, they dont do tips on the credit cards -- only cash so bring cash with you for a tip. Check out Stone if you can, hes great.

This guys are money! From the time you walk in -- great service, atmosphere, value and above all a great hair cut. At first I thought a bit $$ but after the first couple hair cuts there realized that this was the best haircut I had coming out of the shop and also, it held up longer than at other places. As someone who often forgets to get his haircut, having it last a couple/few extra weeks is great.
