Getting your hair cut at Mannys is a real cultural experience in addition to a great inexpensive hair cut. Sit down next to a medieval suit of armor in this this red-painted basement barbershop and browse through books about everything from 50s pop culture to Vietnam to photojournals of the Kennedy family and the Mafia . . . sort of the educated mans People Magazine. Dont be surprised if you happen to be sitting next to a washed-up opera singer who breaks out into a heart-felt (and loud) aria, making the little boy waiting for his haircut next to him cry (not that its always this rambunctious, its usually very peaceful, just dont be surprised...). Manny will give you a great haircut, shampoo, scalp massage, and advice about your lady problems for the same price you would pay to get it cut by the pierced barbarian at supercuts. Go there. Maybe it will be the first genuine haircut youve ever had.

I had been going to a expensive hair salon out of fear for my hair being butchered. I was happy with my hair dresser at the time, but the price became overbearing. I figured to suck it up, and try to find a barber. Alton Barber Shop -- I came here after looking up local and reasonably priced barbershops in Brookline that I could easily walk to. Now, after JUST my first visit, I fell in love. The service is unmatched, the price I literally am happy to pay with no issue. The employees - genuinely kind, all very friendly people. Then again... In hindsight, his is my first review on *Google*. =P Seriously, go.

Entertaining gentleman. If you are in a great big rush, this is not the place for you. I like local barbershops, and this qualifies, with the added advantage that Mannys english is superb (not always true at my old place in JP). The shampoo meant this is the first time in years I havent scheduled my haircut so I could go home and wash out all the little hairs, which was a nice change. The haircut Manny gave me (without any direction on my part) looked good to start, is growing in well, and is liked by the lady. Pricier than I like ($20), but Im a cheapskate. Not the best haircut Ive ever had, but the best Ive had in several years, and the best Ive had in the greater Boston area.

Val and Mike in Alton Barbershops are simply exceptional barbers. After trying numerous barbershops, I finally found my spot. Ive been going here for years now. The price is great and the haircut is always perfect. Even though they do accept walk ins, I would recommend to call in advance as this place is becoming more and more popular these days and you might have to wait for your turn, but even that wait is worth it. This place is Highly Recommended!

Best barber/barber shop in Brookline. I dont know what Bryan is talking about. Manuel dedicates plenty of time and devotion to each of his customers, and is actually interested and knowledgable about what he is doing. He knows how to cut hair. And a visit there, as other reviewers have commented, can be accompanied by good music, reading, entertainment, etc. This is the place to go in Coolidge Corner to get your hair cut.

It wasnt a terrible haircut but it wasnt very good either, especially for $25. I was asked what I wanted and was very specific. The woman performing cut didnt really follow my request and went through the haircut extremely quickly. I noticed the next day that the sides were a little uneven and had to correct them with the help of a friend.

Wanted to try a new place so came here. Got askes what I wanted and said he understood. I let him go at it and man he moved fast. Ended up cutting it a bit to short and not sure if he understood what fading meant. Not the worst haircut but just not what I was hoping for. 25 dollar for the cut. Will I be returning? No...the search continues

Went on a Saturday morning at 9:15 and got out at 10:30am. My haircut was mediocre and I didnt seem like he did that much anyway. I was pretty upset about wasting a ton of time in the morning. Would not recommend to anyone. He is friendly though.

Best place to get a haircut Ive found in Boston. Mannys a character and an excellent barber; couldnt recommend it highly enough.
