So, Planet Fitness is a gym primarily designed to take your money. Your wallet will be lighter, perhaps that was one of your goals? No? Try elsewhere. Other than that it caters to people who have never been to a gym and therefore do not know that it is terrible or people with a low ceiling in terms of goals or a love of trends that will likely be obsolete within years. The weight machines are the cheapest available. They are in 20 lb increments ONLY. So, if you want to build your strength up slowly, too bad. They do not mention this on the tour. Are you already strong and want to get stronger? Too bad. The maximum weight limits are extremely low. They do not mention this on the tour. Do you get sweaty and want a towel to dry off with? Sorry, that affects bottom line. Most gyms have some sort of alcohol wipe for machines which is efficient and reduces waste. That sounds expensive, so PF goes with a spray bottle and paper towels. Ineffective and wasteful: Its the Planet Fitness way! For "convenience" there are large screen tvs with predetermined channels. You can choose to listen to them on cardio machines. You may or may not be able to see the TV you are listening to. This is on the tour as a "convenience". (The cardio machines are also bottom of the line. Im sure you are surprised.) Do you want to pay extra for a weird room with water beds that massage you? They mention that on the tour. You should totally sign up for these so they can have more of your money! (Unclear if they are cleaned between uses. My guess: probably not.) Its bit on no "gymtimidation" is a good idea, but one way to prevent that is to discourage membership that actually takes it seriously. Its a cardio gym and light weight gym only. Maybe that meets your needs, not mine. Most gyms are honest and let you try before you buy or at least let you pay a little to try it out. Not Planet Fitness. I was a member for a week. I found the above problems, I am out $70 (for a single visit - the manager implied that I should not expect it to be free. I didnt. But maybe the $14 membership fee was enough for one day? Nope. Cancellation fee.). Now they will tell you I didnt read their contract (I did) or their small print sign (I did). The issue is if someone joins and within a week feels they cant meet their goals at that gym, do you penalize them financially? Or is it better business to go your separate ways? They chose the latter. Its clear how they feel about patrons, so dont become one.

i dont go to Gyms or workout here but how can anyone do so with those HUGE BIG Panel Windows and have people basically staring at them while your trying to do your thing? i dont know about the other reviews but to me that is REALLY CREEPY! the fact that all of the stuff i see is basically just 50 feet or less away ( in clear eye shot mind you its not that big of a facility) from you behind glass windows as soon as you walk in the front door? i think this was better off as another TJX Store like it used to be ( SO WHAT if that other place forget the name went under Medford could have used a Tjmaxx i know theres one in Somerville but who cares! this was AJ Wright and the Meadow Glen Shopping Center (name pending for 2017) Mall still has Marshalls!) if i went to Gyms or PFs for that matter alone it definetly will NEVER be this one just for the fact it has little to no privacy from the publics peeping eyes from outside i could care less if its 24 Hours NO THANK YOU! i pass it almost all the time when in the area and can see almost everything everyones doing! i want privavy behind a wall like other normal places not where people on the Street can possibly take a Photo or Video of you working out!

I really wanted to sign up for the 24 hours gym as I currently go to assembly square fitness. so I decided to check this place out just few minutes earlier . I and my friend went in this location told one of the lady at front that we want to sign up for gym membership. She refer me to another girl. And the other girl was straight up rudely " what mememrshio you want to join". She was straight rude and mean as it feels like she didnt want us to join the gym. She didnt even bother to show us the flyer for the membership and I had to ask if they have any flyers to show the types of membership they offer. This girl(am...) really turned me off. And also she told me I need to have checking account to sign up. When I sign up for assembly fitness I didnt have checking account with me, but they didnt wanted me to loose business with them so they signed up on same exact moment and asked me to bring my chekxinh account info. When I come to workout first time. I feel like PF girl didnt want me to join their club. Its just plain simple way to pissed new customer away. Now I dont think I want to join this gym thanks to this girl attitude

Beware of thieves. I signed up for a one year membership and on the day I did this, I lost my checkbook in the lobby despite three of us looking all over for it. Someone later turned it in and they called me to let me know it was safely in their lost and found and I could come pick it up whenever. After returning from a trip, I went in to work out and to get my checkbook. SURPRISE! It wasnt there and they dont know what happened to it. They told me they looked at cameras and saw it go into lost and found but never out of it. Huh? And then the manager said that she asked the staff if anyone knew where it was and they said "no" so that was that...as if someone would raise their hand and admit to stealing a Coach leather checkbook. I was also sheepishly advised by another staff member to close my accounts and get new checks (thanks genius)...which will cost me more than my one year membership when all costs are taken into account. No refunds were offered, no offers to cover the cost of my stolen items were made...only shrugs given and instructions to contact higher-ups via a form on their website. Stay classy.

I really wanted to join planet fitness so i went to the closest one near me in medford. Well there was 2 young men at desk and a young girl the young girl and one of the young men were so damn rude. I asked about prices, memberships, tanning etc and i got shrugged off. The young male seemed so uninterested in me. The girl was sarcastic and i got the feeling i was bothering her just asking questions. The young man would lean against the front desk with a look on his face that made him unaproachable. I joined anyway because its the closest one to my house. Ive gone already twice and feel so unwelcome by the two working the front.

When I first started going here about 2 years ago I really enjoyed it and the staff was very professional and mature. However now its a bunch of young kids at the front desk now. They spend more time eating at the desk, fooling around with each or avoiding working then anything. The older lady working the night shift is the only reason I havent changed my gym. Shes the only one that cleans and keeps everything stocked. She use to be the cleaning lady now she does the overnight front desk. You need more people like her and less immature lazy children.
