I used them because two friends had used them previously. The first apartment I called about I spoke to Sabrina and set a time to meet her a couple days ahead. The day and time comes to meet and Sabrina is not around. I call her and leave a voicemail and never received a call back. I see another ad on craiglist with Joe Wards name and number so I call him and explain to him that I got stood up by Sabrina and that Id like to work with him instead. The thing with Joe is that he has a horrible memory (hes very old), and so you have to call him constantly, he doesnt usually follow up with you. You also have to remind him constantly what type of apartment you want and whos renting and everything else. I saw I believe 3 apartments with him. I turned down the first, it was too old and overpriced just because it was in Burncoat area. The second I wanted, so I applied and was turned down the day I was supposed to sign the paperwork for the lease. I had just met the husband when viewing the apartment and he didnt seem like he even wanted to deal with me, no hand shake (like men do), doesnt look at me or talk to me at all , just hears what Joe has to says and walks into the other room, but agreed to having me as a tenant. I go to the apartment a week later to fill out the lease paperwork and meet the wife who looks uneasy when she sees me. As we enter the kitchen, she stands closely behind me and shakes her head looking at her husband, I was able to catch her out of the corner of my eye. I believe the wife discriminated against me based on my race (Im a black man). She interrupts Joe and says that she already has a tenant, the husband say" you never told me", she says "I did". They go back and forth for a minute saying this. Okay obviously he would remember and Joe and I wouldnt be standing here if she had. The husband says okay, and starts coming up with reasons not to take me and it comes out that Joe overstated my income through the conversation. Im just standing there awkwardly wondering what the hell is going on. It wasnt his fault I didnt get the apartment (the landlords wife was just a racist), but it is a problem if hes overstating my income. I decide that I didnt want to deal with Joe so I call the office and request my security deposit back. The black guy who works at the office has to be the most unfriendly person that work there. When you go there, theres no greeting, just a "Can I help you?", while still looking down. He doesnt give off the vibe that he cares to help you at all and seriously needs to work on his customer service skills. Anyways I get my check, but never deposit it. A couple weeks go by and I see Joe had posted on really nice apartment that fit all my needs so I call him and he tell me I need to bring back the security deposit, so I do. He tells me meet him a couple days later at the office to meet with the landlords laison and then to see the place. The days comes and he gives me some long story and tells me to call Sabrina. I call Sabrina and never received a call from her. I call Joe and dont receive a call back until a few days later again with some long story that isnt believable. I dont know what has happened to WeRentCentralMass, because my friends didnt have the same experience, but I would NOT recommend them. Just from the experience dealing with Joe, the front desk guy, and Sabrina (or lack of dealing with her rather), I would say to pass with these people. Ive found an apartment through craigslist on my own, but it wasnt in Worcester like I had hoped.

NEVER USE WERENTCENTRALMASS IF YOU WANT TO AVOID BEING LIED TO. If it were possible to leave ZERO stars, I totally would. My roommates and I got in contact with weRENTcentralmass to help in our search for an apartment, and we had the misfortune of crossing paths with Joe Ward, one of their "Senior" agents. We located an apartment, contacted Joe as listed in the ad, and he promptly guaranteed us that we would be chosen as the tenants for our property of interest. He impressed upon us the importance of moving quickly, and reassured us numerous times that our $700 deposit for the apartment was REFUNDABLE--so, we moved forward with the application and submitted our deposit. Then, no word. We waited for a week and a half for a response, and finally I got a response after calling him. He went on one of his unintelligible rants about I dont even know what (characteristic of every correspondence weve had) before telling me that the apartment owners "changed their mind" at the last minute because they didnt want dogs at the property (after being GUARANTEED that the owners were okay with it). Joe completely blindsided us with this, and we could tell he was trying to pull a fast one on us, so we called the owners son, Mike Russo, to get the real story (who is coincidentally one of the agents at weRENTcentralmass). He told us that the unit had been rented A WEEK prior to us calling him, meaning it was rented a few days after we submitted our applications and deposit for that unit. Joe never told us about this when it happened, and even when the apartment had been rented and we were still in the dark, Joe kept up the charade and told one of our roommates that the apartment was still available if he wanted to rent it without us (since he didnt have a dog). So basically he was trying to swindle all of us. Great business practice from an allegedly "honest" company. This happened a month ago, and as of now we are still awaiting our $700 deposit refund, which Joe said was mailed two and a half weeks ago, and had not been issued until just this Wednesday when we had to CALL to hustle him about it. TL;DR: Learn from our debacle and NEVER USE WERENTCENTRALMASS IN YOUR APARTMENT HUNT.

BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE,. Specifically Joe Ward. He is a liar and a scammer. He assured us that we had an apartment if we gave him a half month deposit of $525. We brought Joe the money within 2 hours along with our applications. We then proceeded to wait for return phone calls and emails, of which there were none. When I did eventually get Joe on the phone, he had no idea who we were or what apartment we were talking about. When I jogged his memory, he said he had to talk to the landlord and hed get back to me. Two days later I called him back and again had to remind him who we were, but he said he hadnt spoken to the landlord yet. Three days later, called and again Joe didnt know who we were until I reminded him and he again told me he hadnt spoken to the landlord, hed get back to me. Another week went by with me reaching out to Joe with the same result over and over again. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, I receive an email stating that the landlord didnt want a dog on the property after being assured that she wouldnt be a problem. So I responded with a request for a time to meet him at the office. He replied with "I assume its to get your deposit back" " I have to have a check cut it takes 24 hours". So, 2 days later I went into his office to get my deposit back in the office. Surprisingly, Joe didnt remember me. When he realized who I was, he went to retrieve the check from the front desk, which I assume is all that had to be done, and brought it to me in his office. When I looked at the check it was(to my surprise) short by $100. I was furious about this and he said it was application fees. I replied that that had never been discussed with me nor even mentioned. I didnt think I could do anything about it, so I just left very angry and told Joe to lose my number and paperwork. The point of my story? Dont be fooled by these scammers, I know I wont be again.
