Frank stopped by to give me a furnace and air conditioner estimate today. He was personable, friendly, and easy to talk to. He answered all my questions and clearly knew his profession. His iPad was a little troublesome which resulted in delays and re-dos, but he got it working. He also said he emailed the estimates (3 options) to me but I have yet to receive them (about an hour since he left). The estimates were a bit higher than expected, but I did ask for Trane. My biggest disappointment was just the lack of doing a Manual J calculation. I will say, however, that out of the half dozen or so companies I have received similar estimates for (including previous residences) I had only one do the calculation as standard procedure. All others simply go by overall square footage, even when I asked about the Manual J. Most of what I read online state that quality of installation is more important than the brand of equipment. Proper sizing is part of the installation. Having the wrong size unit can result in excessive on/off or extended run times. Perhaps the calculation would result in the same size as "experience tells me..." but I would feel more confident in the recommendation if it were done. I tried an online version of this calculation and it isnt simple. In fact, it asks some questions that may be difficult to answer (what kind of insulation on outside... how can you tell?). Still, someone who knows what their doing can likely guestimate enough to be relatively accurate. Surely, this is a Company policy so I cannot fault Frank. Still, would have been nice if it were done. I like the fact that Hoover covers it all, heating/cooling, plumbing, and electrical. Would be nice to deal with just one company for all service needs. If I decide to stick with them I will update this review on installation.

I have used them twice, once with good service, and once when clearly the supervisor of the service technician used poor judgement and cost me more money than the service call. A repair job that completely shuts down hot water to a laundromat clearly should not be started if there was any chance of not being able to finish a job while a plumbing supply store was open. Additionally, you certainly do not tell the customer its NOT your fault when YOU started the job to late in the day when you were called at 10:30am Whos fault would that be if its not YOUR fault? If supervisor "Matt" would have done a proper assessment, he would have allowed a repair time frame which also allowed for parts resources to be available to complete the job. You do NOT leave a job unfinished, and a business unable to provide services to customers and say "its not your fault". The job could have easily been schedule for the following day instead of taking a risk which severely effected a business that supplies water services to customers. I would have understood, "I missed judged the situation" much better than someone not taking responsibility for their judgement error... and never once saying "I am very sorry I misjudged the situation." We are all human, but dont pass the responsibility off instead of admitting your human and made a mistake. People understand mistakes, they dont understood lack of taking responsibility for your actions.

I needed the pipe from my sump pump replaced. Pretty straightforward job. Maybe 1 to 2 hours of labor and approx. $20 to $30 in materials.I was happy with the professionalism of how they set up their appointments and notified me by text that Kevin the plumber was on his way. He looked things over and diagnosed the problem very quickly. He was very pleasant and courteous. He told me that he would go out to his truck and formulate a quote for me. I had a figure of about $400 in my head. Kevin came back with a quote for $600. I was a a little taken aback by this quote, but decided that I wanted to get the repair over with, because I had sold the house and needed to get the repair done before closing. I told Kevin to go ahead with the work, and he told me that he would be back in two days to get it done. This gave me time to think, and I decided that I was being ripped off. I called another plumber. He gave me the same diagnosis as Kevin, however his quote was $400 less than the quote from Kevin at Hoover. Needless to say I cancelled my appointment with Hoover. This is really unbelievable, because I am a returning customer. Ive worked with Hoover twice before. Apparently Hoover doesnt understand the the cost of customer acquisition or the 80-20 rule that I teach in my marketing classes. 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers, and those 20% are your returning customers. Hoover just lost one member of their 20%.

I have had Hoover (Kevin, specifically) at my house 4 times and each time Ive had a positive experience. I have used many contractors during my long home renovation project. Hoover is one of only 2 that hasnt fallen short of my expectations. They are quick to communicate with the customer and back their work. What I appreciate from them most is valuing my time. You can pay people back money, you can repair a botched job, and you can make promises to do better next time but what you cannot give your customers back is time wasted. Hoover has never wasted my time and consistently delivers on getting the work done when they say. If I call them and I take the day off to be there, I know its going to be completed and done that day without having to think twice about it. I see a lot of reviews commenting on price. I sympathize with that viewpoint but you have to weigh that against your time and stress of chasing down a shady hack or paying twice to fix a botched job. Poorly installed water, gas and electric can bring a renovation/building project to a halt in a spectacular manner. Im doing nearly everything else DIY so I can pay pros to do the stuff that can kill me. When I close up that wall, I dont think about that work ever again. I look at it as money well spent. Very pleased repeat customer.

5 Stars is not enough to describe Hoover, they deserve 10+ stars. I have never done business with a company so knowledgeable, professional and passionate about what they do. They came out the same day that I called about my AC that went out. It turned out it needed to be replaced and they ordered a new one and scheduled the replacement appointment within 1 week of that first appointment. My technicians were awesome, friendly, polite and they went above and beyond to make sure that my home was safe and up to code, they took no short cuts. Thomas even stayed late on a Friday of a holiday weekend to finish the job and make sure I had A/C working over a long hot weekend. Bravo to Hoover! You guys are all class! I wish more small businesses could be like you! It was a pleasure to do business with you guys!

I got cheated by this company. The plumber Jeff game me a quote for fixing two toilet flushesand we agreed on the deal. He came the next day and fixed one in my absence and told my wife to pay him the full amount. When she asked him about the second toilet he said he would come back the next day and fix it. After two weeks he finally came but he wants to charge $257/- more for the second toilet. When I asked him about the quote he said he made a mistake and gave me a wrong quote. Well I paid $357/- for changing the valve for one toilet. I called the office but the manager was no help either, they had already got my money. I would never refer such people to anyone.
