I moved to Michigan last summer and was looking for a new place to have my hair color "fixed" (it required several hours of color stripping) and cut. Kim Cox did an amazing job and she has such a sweet personality. Id give her five stars, hands down. The reason that Im giving Don Franco Salon two stars is because of the poor customer service that I received from the young female salon workers and the desk representative, all of who were at the front desk while I was paying. I engaged them in what I considered to be short but friendly conversation, thanked them, paid and left a tip for Kim, and then turned to leave out the front door. It was then at that moment that I overheard one of the young salon workers say: "Goodbye Princess!" behind my back. Confused, I turned around and saw that they were all smirking at me. Mind you, Im not the kind of person who takes things personally, as I work in healthcare and am constantly trying to help people in crisis. I understand that people sometimes say or do things that are out of line but never had I experienced anything like this in front of me at a salon. I had truly been nothing but courteous to everyone at the desk. I know now that I should have gone to the manager of the salon and filed a complaint of poor customer service, but I was too shocked and humiliated at that time to do anything else but walk out and vow to never return. Up to that point, my experience with the salon had been nothing but very positive. I work hard for my money and the last thing I want to do is spend it at a salon where I feel disrespected, especially when I know that the insults were completely unwarranted. My first time at Don Franco was sadly my last time there.

I didnt care for this salon at all. I am from Grand Blanc, so naturally, I decided to try it out and get my haircut here, plus some foil highlights (Im a male diva, love to manscape, haha, make jokes, people). Anyway, the receptionists are a little snotty and maybe not so well trained. They kept changing the date and time of the first appointment I was making as I was talking to them. That was strange, but when I arrived, the lady that did my hair was very late and was extremely unpleasant. Literally, I couldnt wait to get the heck out of there. She made me hold and hand her the foils and was real weird about it. I said something to her, she started muttering under her breath and I know she called me a dbag, although she didnt say it loud, but I heard it. I told her I didnt like the cut, made her re-cut it, she was clearly annoyed and hit me in the head with the dryer three times. I didnt appreciate her attitude at all. The color was okay, not too bad, but it was more expensive over the price I was quoted on the phone. I did plan to get my hair cut there again, but by someone else, but cancelled the appointment. When I mentioned the uneven haircut and getting whacked in the head and the cussing from the woman cutting my hair to the receptionist, she gave me a weird look and just said maybe the hair stylist had a bad day. I didnt bother to make further mention of this and let it drop then.it was apparent it would not benefit me to complain further. Thankfully, I live in Flushing currently and have found a better hair salon.

Everyone walks out with the same ugly "helmut hairstyle." Very gossipy and the services cost way more than what they should after walking out subpar hair. Forget trying to get them to take care of something you arent happy with. They will argue with you, talk down to you, lie, manipulate, try blowing smoke up your a--, and ultimately tell you that they just cant do anything about it if you are unhappy about the services you received. Dont bother attempting to get a refund or even to have them "fix" your hair if its not to your satisfaction. They wont. The owner likes to ridicule people on online, via FB, Yelp and Google, etc when he dislikes the reviews, even calling them out as fake or from competitors. Sorry dude, sour grapes isnt a good look on you! This is a real review by a longtime former client- I had my hair cut here for six years. Thats right- six years and I was happy to find another salon after dealing with Don Franco in that time. Poor haircuts, overcharging, inconsistent service, receptionists that are both rude and incompetent, misplaced appointments, a stylist who just happened to not show up to work numerous times, botched color, and backtalk from insensitive owners as well as the manager. Forget it. Go elsewhere.

Terrible experience when I went last autumn. It was over-priced per se, but my color was terrible, so yeah, in retrospect, it was over-priced since I needed to have it done over again to make the color look the way I wanted. My complaints fell on deaf ears. I didnt think the "ambiance" was all charming, there were obvious nail marks and paint mark spots on the walls that need touching up. The work stations are so tiny and didnt seem to be big enough for hairdressers to work in. Lots of hair left on the floor around me that never got cleaned, either. Not attractive. My hair was a heck of a lot less attractive and regardless of what I said to get it fixed, it didnt happen. I complained to my haircolorist and the managers and got nothing but hot air. I also had to wait a long time after my appointment was to begin, although I was on time. I didnt get an apology, either, which I expect from someone when they make me wait. I had a trim here once before that was fine and went well, but this was not okay with me.

I used to have a stylist that I went to for years....she cut her hours, then I moved. Being new to the area,I was too terrified to let anyone touch my hair. I finally got enough nerve to try another salon in Grand Blanc. I had a horrible experience....and I swore I would never find another good stylist. Well, finally a year after my bad haircut, I made an appointment at don Francos. I read the reviews just minutes before my appointment and even thought of cancelling, as my stylist was going to be Martha. I was SO nervous! But after my visit, I was 100% completely happy! I have never had soooo many comments on my hair! Martha did such a great job, and I will definetely go back! I absolutely love it!!!!!!!!!

Vanessa Forest is who I was referred to the very first I went to DF. Due to our schedules conflicting or me just not planning well, I have sometimes went to other salons, only to be sadly disappointed. Now, these are not just average salons...very trendy and reputable, but NO ONE has matched Vanessas magic with my hair. The salon is beautiful, professional, and I never have to wait long. All of this, on top of Vanessas talent, will keep me dedicated to only her and if I have to book my appointments months in advance to get her in the rare evening openings, I am more than happy too. Keep up the good work!! Oh..and now my nail lady is there..Michelle...cant beat her either!!
