I will start by saying this: My mother was a cosmetologist, an incredible one. She was unable to do my hair because of surgery. I have learned a bit from her, but am also unable to do my own hair. I was searching all over Kalamazoo for an opening for a cut for my boyfriend and a style for me. They managed to squeeze me in and now I know why. I brought in a picture for a simple, 1920s style. A large curl in the front and smooth curls in the back, think a short haired Jessica Rabbit with the part closer to the ear. They made multiple dreadful mistakes. First of all, there was no consultation. There was no, "what about this image do you like?" or any other normal questions you would expect from a thorough consultation at a salon. The young lady only asked me how I wanted my hair parted, I said the same way as the picture. She then proceeded to do nothing and left my part where it was which was not even close to the image. Bad start. She then did not wash or prep my hair... Then, she asked another stylist how she should approach my hair, normal, however they both agreed on a medium sized curling iron. That style requires roller set curls but my stylist insisted on using a curling iron... After an hour of curling, a wasted hour mind you because with such small pin curls this look was already unachievable, rather than do what was necessary to achieve the smooth look (brushing out my hair) she started shoving bobby pins into the mess of curls. I had a sausage roll of curls from ear to ear about 2 inches over my neck... I was livid. Next comes the large curl in the front that makes the look. She stared at the picture and then made a deal with the stylist next to her: "hey, if you try to do this Ill curl her hair." My stylist, traded with the stylist next to her. Granted, the tradeoff was the best thing that couldve happened, at least the new girl tried. She said it was unachievable without gel and switched again however. Pardon me but, why didnt you use gel then??? And set it with rollers??? Like a stylist who knows what she/he is doing would do??? I said to just leave it and when to the counter where my boyfriend awaited me. $60... He admitted trying to pay in advance but they decide price based on time... DO not go here NOT WORTH THE RIDICULOUS COST! Especially for such unsatisfactory service.

1st of all i need to tell, this place is very dirty. where they use wash people hair, i never seen them washing there after each use. god know how many people comes there with lyes and so on. ever since i came home from that place, i been itching my hair like crazy. also i noticed they are not wiping their haircutting supplies with each use. also i did $150 worth of things there , lady who did my hair ,did everything backwards, she colored my hair, conditioner, cut my hair asked me not to wash my hair and she charged me $10 extra for blow dying my hair. never going there again..

Just got done with a hair appointment I absolutely LOVE BoRics and am even more in love with the color I got done. Never have I ever had a better experience. Going to get my hair done has always been a partial dread in the sense you never know how it will turn out. Couldnt ask for a better job, wish I would of gave a better tip. Will for sure only go there for touch ups now, will ALWAYS recommend. BEST PLACE TO GET ANYTHING DONE TO YOUR HAIR.

This morning went in for trim and the girl was very anti social and didnt feel welcomed at all I will never go back I will go back to Great Clips at least they welcome you and very friendly I should have known when I walked in she was on phone ordering something and when she got off phone still cold and didnt acknowledge me that was 15.00 wasted couldnt wait to get out of there!!!!! Wish I could get my money back !!!

I go here for all my haircuts because BoRics is convenient and reasonably priced. I have seen many different stylists over the years and have come out looking great every time. Most recently, I had a wonderful stylist named Leah give me an amazing dye job and a beautiful haircut that Ive been getting compliments on all week. Thanks, Leah!
