I hired Deco to cater my wedding earlier this year. Initially I was very pleased with them while we worked out a menu and created a "contract"... of sorts. They emailed me a list of what would be provided and I said "Ok." (Rule #1: SIGN ALL contracts for your wedding! My planner advised this and I ignored it, believing I could trust my vendors. Dont trust. Sign.) Meeting with Soile was fun- she was very sweet and helpful in making sure the menu was just right. She was very generous to me and made the wedding planning experience feel slightly less stressful. I felt very reassured after that meeting that the catering for my wedding would be beautiful, delicious, and I finally could cross it off my list of worries. When I called to make my deposit I spoke with a very pleasant girl who was even more helpful by giving me tips and ideas for my wedding. I was thrilled! ...Up until the week before my wedding. I received a call 5 days before my wedding from someone at the company who I assume is a receptionist, informing me that the balance which we originally agreed I would pay two weeks after the wedding was now due by Thursday. If I did not send them the money then they would not cater my wedding. (Keep in mind, this is the week before my wedding. I was paying for everything myself and had about $4000 worth of other payments to make that week. I had budgeted the remainder of the bill to Deco to be paid with my next paycheck, after the wedding. Just like we agreed.) After many tears and hours of frustration, I realized there was nothing I could do but pay them or risk not having any food at my reception. They had me cornered. Fortunately I received a generous gift from someone which basically saved my "behind" from the situation Deco had put me in. The wedding day went well - the food was delicious, it was presented nicely, and the servers were pleasant - I wouldnt exactly say they were friendly, I never saw anything resembling a smile from most of them, but they were pleasant. Overall I gave Deco an average rating because it was an average of the true ratings: I would have given them a 5 for the food and a 1 for lack of care for the customer. I would hesitantly recommend them to someone seeking a wedding caterer. While my experience may not have been the best, I have heard wonderful reviews from other customers. Just make sure you type a formal contract and get it signed. And have an extra $1000 in your pocket the week before the wedding in case they threaten not to come.

FABULOUS! FANTASTIC! FAVORITE! After attending three beautiful, delicious dinners catered by Deco Catering for 250+ guests we hired Deco to cater a Benefit Dinner for Kenya Children’s Fund for 100 guests. Working with Heikki Rouvinen, Partner, was easy and enjoyable. He listened well and responded promptly to our questions and requests. One person with many years of catering experience as an owner and as a guest said, “This was the best catered dinner she had ever seen and eaten.” Indeed it was! The presentation of a lovely mixed-berry salad followed by a unique presentation of the entrée and dessert brought smiles of delight. All three entrees received highest compliments from the guests. Service was professional on every level… tastefully uniformed wait staff served quickly and graciously and responded to accommodate all requests. On-site preparation and plating was shielded from view and was quiet. The on-site banquet manager handled questions and special needs promptly and effectively. The entire food service flowed and presented an exquisite prelude and background for the work of the Benefit Dinner. The biggest surprise was the immaculate condition in which the Deco crew left the kitchen in every corner—including washing the floor! For our next event we will definitely use Deco Catering— They have earned these accolades through their expert, competent, professional catering—Food that is beautiful to look at, delicious and unique— 5 GOLD STARS AND MORE ***** THANK YOU DECO CATERING ! Kindest Regards, Stanley W. Bakke

I need to post a positive comment about Deco to counter what the disappointed bride wrote on Oct 30, 2010. I have used Deco now for two years for our nonprofit fundraiser and would give Soile and her team a 5 on all levels. Not only is the food "to die for" but the staff went above and beyond to make these events pleasing to all the organizers and especially to our 500 guests. We had excellent communication via Haikki, and while not all of our last minute change requests were possible, I found them very clear in explaining why the change wouldnt be possible and providing a more than acceptable alternative. One of the many things I liked about working with Deco was the very high [quality] bar that they set for everything....the sumptuous food, the artistic and beautiful presentation of the food, their help to me in ensuring that the tables were perfectly set with nice table cloths, flowers and skirting; their flexibility in adjusting the timing for when food was brought out to the flow of our event, hence ensuring that the food was hot and fresh. Ive always thought that cooking really good food for a crowd would be an extrordinary challenge, but Deco does it with a grace and execution that makes it seem easy. Not only did they go above and beyond for our events, but also they delievered on two weddings that weve attended. I highly recommend Deco Catering for their food and their service!

My husband and i hired Deco for our wedding. We had gone to so many food tastings, and were so disappointed that i didnt think this one would turn out either. My husband couldnt make it but my sisters and i went to taste Decos food and we just fell in love. Almost every other food tasting we went to they were serving us pasta and heavy foods. If there is one thing i think people shouldnt be eating at a wedding is pasta. The head table had gotten the Beef Tenderloin and my husband is a VERY picky meat eating and he couldnt stop eating it. Every wedding i have ever been to ive been highly disappointed with the food, but this was just hands down some of the best food ive ever ate. Id rank it up there with Gordon Ramsay and Wolfgang Pucks food. Highly recommended. The staff they hire is just wondering as well. If you want something thats better than the traditional wedding dish, and people will talk about for a long time. Hire Deco Catering.

I am a musician whose band plays for a lot of weddings. Needless to say I eat a lot of different food at these events. Last night we played for a wedding that was catered by the friendly folks from Deco. This was by far the best catered food Ive yet to have since Ive been playing or attending weddings, which has been 20+ years. The menu was healthy, by request of the grooms family. The salads, fruit plates and side dishes were wonderfully prepared and displayed along with perfect salad dressing choices. The main dishes were either steak and/or salmon. The buffet style line that was set up allowed you to have both. They were cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth when I ate them. If youre looking to hire a caterer for your wedding or event, look no farther. Take it from some one whos eaten a lot of catered food. Your guests will rave about their experience if you hire these folks.
