I guess Ill start with the positives since there are so few. The small roll that came with our meal (a friend and I) was hot, fresh, and very tasteful. Other than that, our server Megan was very nice and checked on us often. However, there were only 3 or 4 tables full so its hard to give too much credit for good service. Anyway, on to the food...we both ordered the special after Megans suggestion (cant remember exactly what meat it was but sounded good) but she returned shortly and told us they just ran out. So we ended up getting a 2-meat platter - I had ham and brisket, cheesy corn, green beans; he had brisket and turkey, mashed potatoes, salad. The meat is nowhere near decent. It is pre-sliced deli meat that tastes like it was microwaved for 20 seconds. We shared our food basically to confirm that one didnt get a better plate than the other. His potatoes tasted like garlic with a hint of potato. My green beans were good but the cheesy corn was soupy and bland. I just tried cheesy corn for the first time the day before at another establishment in the area and it was awesome; which is why I was excited to order it here. Big mistake. Look, everybody has different likes and dislikes, but I have a very hard time believing those who wrote that they thought this place offered the best BBQ theyve ever had. I usually give a place 2 visits before making my evaluation, but considering there were 2 of us experiencing equally terrible food, I wont be returning. By the way, if you decide to eat here even after reading this, please do not hold your server responsible for the bad food. Tip them well if they earn it.

One word...disgusting. I had a simple BBQ pork sandwich. Was craving the taste of BBQ, so I would think that a BBQ Restaurant would at least use BBQ in their cooking....not the case here. The pork was incredibly dry...almost inedible. More fitting for a dog chew toy. The sandwich came with 2 ribs. I wouldnt even touch them. They looked like bacon...dripping in oil. (I took a picture and would post it if I could) Since when do you use OIL to cook RIBS!!! Again, not a hint of BBQ sauce used during cooking. I am so glad I paid $11+ to eat a few fries for lunch. I feel sorry for anyone who gives this place even a mediocre rating...it shows they have not ever had a decent meal. I know most people write review based on the extremes of experience; this was definitely a bad experience. The waitstaff was kind, but the food was horrible. I should have know when I walked in and saw two other people in the whole restaurant. If you are going to advertise as "the best BBQ in the Ozarks"...probably want to actually use some BBQ when cooking...

My boyfriend and I went and ate here around noon yesterday. We both ordered the same 10.99 combo meal; a pulled pork sandwich, fries, 2 ribs, and I ordered fried okra while he got baked beans. After about five minutes of ordering our food, the waitress returned with our food quite promptly. You could tell by not only how fast our food came to our table, but by the look and taste that our food had been reheated from the previous night. The ribs were chewy and dry to the bone. Pulled pork was dry and barely warm. Fries were soggy. We could hardly eat the meal at all because it was so gross and made me so mad that someone would serve me this meal. It is absolutely unacceptable to have paid 10.99 for such a disgusting meal that was not fresh by any means. I have worked in the restaurant industry for three years and not ONCE have I ever served a customer a meal from the night before. I will not be returning, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

What really bothered me about this place was the waitress reaction to a relatively simple request: get me a new, *clean* glass of water. The first glass she brought me seemed clean at first, but I happened to look near the bottom and noticed a light brown substance. I took my straw and began poking around in the area only to discover that the offending substance was inside of my glass, breaking apart as the straw rubbed up against it. While that was certainly no feather in this places cap, I figured a simple request for a new glass of water would be sufficient to resolve the issue. When I made my request, as the waitress walked away, I observed her throw a hand up in the air as she stared at the bottom of my glass. Why the attitude? Why not, at the very least, save the reaction for back-room banter? I was disappointed with the service - a point that made it difficult to enjoy the rest of my meal.

Living in KC, I have tried a lot of BBQ spots, locally, and try to check out and compare BBQ when I travel. I was wowed by what I found at Buckinghams. The ribs were as good as any I have had in the Kansas City area at some places that are nationally known! The pit beans, like the ribs, had just the right amount of smoke. I was so impressed that I texted my sons, also BBQ aficionados, while at the table. If you are traveling Route 66 through Springfield, I highly recommend stopping by. Granted, this has been my only visit to Buckinghams, but I would think that the negative ratings are either not current, or were the result of just one of those bad experiences that happen now and then at a restaurant. OR maybe, those commenterors know nothing about Midwest BBQ and its sauces.

I have been traveling the country for 12 years and I have NEVER had a meal worse than the pile of garbage that was placed in front of me. I felt bad for the server because he knew the food was garbage. The brisket was pre sliced super thin then microwaved. THe tips were ice cold and flavorless. The ribs I am betting were cooked 3 days ago and then microwaved. The french fries were so over seasoned they were inedible. And the Cole Slaw was borderline rancid. If I could give the food less than one star I absolutely would. When I asked for a manager ( on a Saturday night at 7PM ) I was told there was no manager. I have sympathy for the server and my tip reflected it however I could NEVER in good conscience recommend the food at this location.

The last time that I went to this location, I ordered the Smokehouse Stuffed Baked Potato. This has everything on it. I ordered through the drive-thru and went back to work to eat it. I am eating my potato (peeling and all). I get about half way through and the remaining potato moves in the to go container and makes a "sandy gritty" sound. I look and the ENTIRE bottom of the potato was covered in MUD. Not just a bit of dirt but a HUGE glob of MUD that covered half of the bottom and was every bit of 1/4 inch thick. They had either made no attempt to clean it or not much of one. I have never been back to this location. The one in Nixa is by far the better location.
