Roseville LA Fitness I rate this club 2.5 but marked "2" If they didnt have so many sleazy policies, Id give it a 3. LIKES 1. Best club in Roseville area for the money 2. Cheaper single monthly membership fee than my old Shoreview YMCA ($40 vs. $70) 3. Equipment is relatively new and clean because they opened in 2008 4. Locker room is much nicer than my old club Shoreview Y which had strong sickening smell of mold 5. Front desk staff are all very friendly and helpful 6. You can join their weekly plan and manage any type of membership online. But you cant cancel online. 7. Tons of TVs well-located. At least 1 TV is easily viewed from any of the stationary equipment upstairs. 7. Open until 11pm several nights which this insomniac really appreciates 8. Diverse membership. DISLIKES 1. They have a joining fee thats difficult to negotiate downward. Totally pi**ed me off as everyone knows the fee is pure commission for the sales person. Which leads me to my next point. 2. Sales staff are high pressure which is sleazy and repulsive 3. The sleaziest MOST inconvenient cancellation procedure ever that is designed to make it as hard as possible to quit. I just checked into weekly membership plan for family member who is home for college. To cancel, you must go into the club M-F between 9am-5pm to meet with membership rep. Cant cancel online, cant cancel by calling, cant cancel if you come in outside the hours most of us are at work. There is the option of cancelling by filling out a form and mailing it to Cailfornia, but there is significant turnaround time for them to process the form which means you continue to pay weekly dues until they get around to it. 4. The "free" 1 hour session with a personal trainer is a waste. Another sleazy policy. During the session they gather info about you only for the purpose of selling you personal trainer time. The free hour consists of weighing, measuring and calculating your body fat using the unreliable pinch method. I didnt need that as I had been working out PLUS anyone can do that themselves. Instead, I asked for an orientation to the weight machines during my free hour but they refused. 5. Parking is a problem if you go during peak hours 6. Their online module for managing health insurance reimbursement is wonky and hard to navigate to. Another Google reviewer mentioned they have theft problems in their parking lot. That is not just an LA Fitness problem. Its a problem all over Roseville. I agree with other reviewer though, security cameras are cheap these days and sadly LA Fitness is not concerned enough about customers to spend that pittance to deter theft.

If youre looking for a nice, inexpensive gym with good equipment, fairly nice and competent staff, and a good pool, this is the place for you. Come here to lift, run, swim or do classes, it is a middle of the road gym in terms of facilities and personnel. If youre looking for a social club where they serve your every "need", go elsewhere. This is gym to workout and lift in, not socialize. So many people complaining about the service (theyre not here to kiss your a$$) or the locker rooms (they have lockers, with a place to put your things) or the lack of pizza at the juice bar, forgetting that the focus of a gym is to exercise, not hang out. The equipment is all fairly new and well maintained, Ive never had more than 10 minute wait for a specific piece of cardio equipment or weight machine/rack, and the weights are well maintained and re-racked 9 times out of 10. The patrons are friendly, with most people keeping to themselves, which is the way that it should be. Youll see a fair amount of regulars, usually a good sign for a gym that attracts and keeps customers. The locker room is nice, lots of lockers and carpet instead of tile, a welcome change from most places. Do bring a lock, if only to keep honest people honest, and to deter the dishonest ones. Showers are decent, individual stalls and there has always been hot water when I was there, but bring shower sandals, I dont see them clean in there very often. There are saunas in both locker rooms, always hot, always clean. Dont be afraid to haggle, I was quoted a price almost $40.00 a month more than what I ended up paying, theyre trying to get you in the door, dont be scared to argue for a better price. Negatives: Cramped parking lot, if you get there at peak time youll have to walk a ways to get to the door. Dont leave anything valuable in your vehicle. They gym has cameras, and a good amount of street lights, but any gym attracts people that will break in and steal your stuff, as they know youre inside and tend to leave stuff in the car. Peak hours can be extremely busy, especially at the start of the year with the New Years resolutioners flooding the place. They WILL call you several times trying to get you to try their personal trainers. I dont have much interest, and told them so, but still got called a couple more times. Just be firm and tell them no thank you.

My wife and I started working out at LA fitness to keep in good health. A perk with LA fitness is that they are partnered with Health Partners for the workout program, in which if you work out 12 times a month, you get $20 from Health Partners. The problem is, at LA fitness, the only records are kept by scanning in. My wife and I at this time were going in for our 5th time this month (we marked this on our calendar at home). However, when I check the LA fitness app on my phone and inquire at the front desk, they say we have only been in 3 times this month! This is terrible for us since my wife and I are both graduate students and can only allot for going 3 times a week. We complained and the front desk staff try to tell us it is our fault for not asking if the check-in went through properly. That it is not there job to confirm our proper check-in. Then why are you sitting at the F***ing desk!!!!! The staff was very rude when we tried to ask if there was anything we could do or if we could speak to a manager. They also showed no remorse for our issue and instead kept a pushy demeanor. They then recommended we come in and scan our cards and then just leave! So they were promoting people to cheat the system and not even workout! If there is not a resolution to this issue, we are going to cancel our memberships and go to a health-club that actually cares about its patrons. This happened on 11/13/15 at 6pm.

Came in as a student looking for something more convenient than going to the student gym and this was a perfect fit. Open til midnight most nights and 5 am so you can get in around work and class. The locker rooms are never crowded and I have never even had people next to me on the cardio machines, let alone had to wait for one. The classes are decent overall but the BodyWorks Plus Abs is awesome and kicks your butt--in a good way. I was straight up with the membership sales guy that I have very little money to throw around as a student and he waved my enrollment fee all together, and the staff remembers you every time you come in, pretty neat. I just told the personal trainer that Im really not interested in the free hour session and they havent given me grief since. There also is a new juice bar that has delicious protein shakes for a comparable price of your favorite Starbucks drink. Only down sides are the lack of females lifting (as in any gym) and the Friday-Sunday classes can get really full depending on the class, I go regardless and find enough space.
