This is a racially biased school. If you look anything other than Caucasian, avoid this school. I visited the school a week before my daughter was going to start. I am greeted by a lady who does not introduce herself, but just gives me this bizarre stare. I introduce myself and explain that my daughter is scheduled to start school there in a week and I wanted a tour. After the none-engaging tour, I asked the lady for a business card and I was shocked that I was speaking to the director. The week my daughter starts school, I get a call on Wednesday stating she refused to go to the restroom with the class. On Friday, her teacher calls again stating she is refusing to eat lunch with the class. She goes into telling me how disruptive this is for the class and she brings up the bathroom incident from earlier that week. I didnt like that her teacher was score keeping so I asked her if she asked my daughter why she didnt want to eat and she said no. I told her teacher to not focus so much on getting her to comply, but ask her why she doesnt want to eat. So her teacher asked my daughter in polite tone to sit at the table and eat while Im on the phone and she complied. Her teacher continues to explain the rules in this tone I didnt like. My next question was do they not have any kids there who are challenging or dont listen. She said "We do, but they listen when we redirect them." Not even an hour after talking to her teacher, the director calls and says that my 3 year old daughter was expelled. I drove straight there and picked up my child. My wife sent the director an email addressing our concerns of racial bias being a motive in their swift decision and how they gave our 3 year old no time to adjust. The staff is more diverse than the student population, but my daughters teacher was not a person of color. I hate dealing with biased people. I would prefer a setting where I know my daughter is safe from discrimination and racial bias. This was my fear before enrolling her and just based on how unprofessional and dismissive the director is, we are happy we dont ever have to deal with them anymore.

The staff is very pleasant and engaging. My daughter had some difficulty adjusting when she first changed to Step by Step, but the teachers were very patient and comforting. Now, she is happy, active and social. I read the unfortunate experience that one of the other parents had, and I want to say that the staff and child populations at the school are very diverse and inclusive.
